  1. Wouldn't it be nice if they ever announced who was warming up in the bullpen? This seems like an issue regarding baseball broadcasts in general. Rare that they show or state who is warming up. Pretty basic information that should be shared.
  2. Going to the game tonight and just noticed on the digital tickets it gives gate entry number and time (20 Minutes prior to game time). Do you have to follow this. Can we not enter prior to 20 minutes before the game and do I have to enter at the gate shown on the digital ticket??
  3. But do you live in Wisconsin? If so, you'll be blacked out like the rest of us. Get a VPN that locates you outside the US, no blackouts. You could also listen to games on radio. Growing up in the 70s and early 80s only about 15-20 games were televised, so I listened to most games on the radio. I think it gave me a greater appreciation of the game and made games on TV and in person that much more of an event.
  4. If nothing else - this thread has at least given me comfort that I'm not the only person who assumes and obsesses that the worst possible scenario will play out in most situations. Of course, when I say "worst possible scenario" I mean relatively, like first world level worst possible scenario, which is actually not that bad at all, but in my head it's completely unreasonable and unacceptable. I have tried to be more relaxed, but I'm starting to think that its not a curable personality trait.
  5. This has always been the case for Brewers pre-sales so that wasn't surprising...unfortunately it looks like the Brewers were too lazy to change things back to the normal way once the pre sales were done. Other teams are still doing it where you can pick any seat. Oh well, I can't say the Brewers handling of everything since COVID has been overly impressive anyway. Some of this may be due to the limited amount of tickets. Only 11K fans per game and they are broken up into different "pods" of 2 seats, 3 seats, 4 seats, etc. If only want two tickets, that rules out any pods that have 3 or more seats. Your choices are limited based on the number of seats you are looking for. There may be 4,000 seats available, but only 500 of them may apply to you based on the number of seats you are looking for. Then when you narrow that down to the seat price level you are looking for, that limits even more (maybe down to 200). So I'm guessing that may be one of the reasons they didn't feel the need for people to be able to choose their exact seat location and defaulting to "best available" based on your chosen number of tickets and general location was sufficient.
  6. One issue that would effect a limited number of people with only allowing paperless tickets is that some, like my wife, have a work paid phone where they are not allowed to download non-approved apps. My wife never goes to a game with someone other than me using our tickets, so not a huge issue for us, but when we both go, I need to present both the tickets on my phone. My own (and I'm sure unreasonable) paranoia with having to use my phone to present tickets is that I'm worried that I will not be able to get a connection or my phone will freeze up or something. Btw - the video the Brewers put out regarding the protocols and what to expect at home games this year, reminded me of this quirky video from several years ago (that I only know about because of Brewerfan and someone posting it in off topic at the time).
  7. Not sure where you are located. We are in Waukesha and went online this morning to schedule an appointment on the Walgreens website. Could not find anything available in Waukesha County or western Milwaukee County. Some Walgreens in Milwaukee did seem to have an abundance of available shots. Called ProHealthcare and both my wife and I able to get appointments at Waukesha Memorial on Friday.
  8. Wow. Angel's announcer. Yawn! If they have an opening I think Augie would have a decent chance of getting it.
  9. So, if hitters are not going to adjust whether there is a shift of not, then what's the need for a significant rule change? Manfred clearly believes that the shift dampens offense and we can't have that. Gotta please the casual fan who, for some reason, equates more offense to being more enjoyable game to watch. Oh...and we also need to shorten the game at the same time. Does not make any sense.
  10. This is probably the one I loath the most. Not sure I agree with you in regards to not increasing stolen bases. Pitchers will be less comfortable about attempting pick-offs, especially after the first or second attempt, so runners will get bigger leads, leading to more stolen bases. "Fans" who don't have patience for pick-off moves need to get over it. Keeping runners close is a part of the game. Artificially increasing stolen bases, balks, and offense in general through rule changes is not. The shift ban is also something I really hate. The shift is not new. How about combating the shift by changing your approach at the plate (ah...maybe try to be a little less of a 3TO hitter). That would organically reduce the occurrences of the shift without having to change the basic rules of baseball. About the only change I can get behind is the automated strike zone. Only because MLB refuses to hold some of the consistently horrible umpires accountable. Instead, they reward them with post-season assignments.
  11. Did get an email last night regarding our 20 game pack. Same row - two sections over. Actually a slightly better angle, but just not in the family section. However, with only 25% capacity, that's not a big deal and actually I occasionally like to have a beer or two before or during the game. I just don't like sitting among those who prefer to have a lot more, so that's why I normally sit in the family section. So, overall, pretty happy with what I got. I was not sure I would get access to all 20 games in the package. I'm excited about going back to the ball park again! Can't wait!
  12. Are you saying you received something from your rep? I got an email today from the Brewers just talking about the single games tickets sale date, but nothing about my specific ticket plan or seat location yet. I chose option 1 because I was concerned tickets would be pretty limited (especially as long as capacity is limited to 25%). I didn't want to take a credit and not be able to use it or possibly only for weekday nose bleed seats.
  13. People thought Bud Selig was a bad commissioner. Rob Manfred is unbearable. My son and I were at a game a few years ago and after multiple pick-off attempts by the visiting pitcher and fans booing (never understood the boos for that), some simpletons in front of us said they should limit the number of pick-off attempts you can make. We both just rolled our eyes but did not bother trying to explain to them all the issues that would raise and why that is a horrible idea. Well, guess what, this Bozo of a commission is actually testing this out in the minors!! What? Also wants to ban the shift. He constantly talks about wanting to shorten the game, but then proposes these idiotic, dumbed down rules that will do nothing but lengthen the time it takes to play a game. https://twitter.com/MLB_PR/status/1370122064921829380/photo/1
  14. Yes, yes you will. Total trash show. Sure, I'll agree, pretty simple humor and plots and didn't really age well. Not up there with other award winning and ground breaking shows of the era like All in the Family or MASH. However, I completely get the warm, nostalgic, happy feeling of watching some of those old shows. Was flipping around channels the other day and stopped on an old Starsky and Hutch episode. One of my favorite shows growing up. Had a poster on my wall with the car. The over the top close ups and drama are humorous now, but it still brought back some memories. I will also agree that there are some great things to watch now and so much selection. Also, being able to watch whenever or binge watch several episodes is convenient. However, I do miss many things about the Network TV era. What I miss most were the shows that everyone watched at the same time. The "water cooler" talk the next day. I still have pretty clear memories about the day after the original airing of Seinfeld's "The Contest". I remember talking about it with people I work closely with as well as overhearing other people talking about it on the elevator and in the cafeteria. My work is having a virtual "happy hour" later this afternoon. Most likely there will be conversations regarding shows that people are binge watching. But for most of the shows it will be 2-4 people (out of 8), that have watched it, are currently watching it, or plan on watching it. But none watching the same episodes at the same time. No "did you see 'name of show' last night?!" Those days are over. Outside of reality shows, I feel like maybe "The Office" was the last show like that? Maybe "Lost" (never watched) ?
  15. An update on my unemployment fraud situation. About a week after submitting paperwork as an employer (As I stated, not only am I the one who's ID was stolen, I also handle HR at the small company I work for), we receive a letter from Unemployment detailing the payments that the "ex-employee" (me!) is eligible for, etc. So, I call back as the employer to confirm they received our paperwork, which was submitted with the deadline stated on the letter, and that the claim has been stopped. They did verify that the claim was stopped, but that unfortunately one payment had gone out. Then they tell me that the claim was made online on January 24th and the payment went out on the 26th!!?!. Huh? I did not receive a letter at home until the 27th and I believe we received the letter at work to verify the employee information on the 28th. The letter stated to return it no later than February 5th, I faxed it to them on the 3rd. Why would they pay anything out before confirming information with the employer??! It's just unbelievable to me how careless they are. Obviously the person I spoke with was unable to give me this information, but told me these were questions that I could ask the fraud investigator when they get back to me. When I asked when that would be, I was told the normal time is 14-21 days, but currently they are backed up and it could be twice as long as normal until I hear from someone. So, they can send out benefits for an online claim within 2 days, but it takes them 6 weeks to get back to someone who's ID is being used to commit unemployment fraud - Brilliant!!
  16. Are Pecota projections (linked in the Brewer optimism thread) and Baseball prospectus projections the same thing? Pecota projections are on the baseball prospectus site and I do not see any other standings projections on the site. The standing posted in post#1 appear to be the exact same as Pecota only rounded.
  17. About a week ago my wife and I both received letters from WI Unemployment Insurance indicating that we had filed unemployment claims. We had not. We called WI unemployment to report the issue. They basically took our information, stated they put a hold on the claim, forward to the fraud division, and someone would call us back. Has been over a week now - still no call back. I called today and was told that the investigation takes time and that once that is through, they will call us. Shouldn't talking to me be part of the investigation? To complicate things a bit more, I handle employee payroll and HR where I work. So, also got a notice about this at work and had to call and fill out paperwork to report it as the employer - nothing back on that end either. In the meantime we have done the things that were suggested including downloading our credit report from all three reporting agencies and freezing our credit information at all three so that no one can open any credit lines under our names. However, that would not prevent someone from doing something like filing a bogus tax return in our names. What I'm gathering from the IRS is that they have no interest in talking to you until someone actually does that. They have no interest in trying to prevent it before it happens.
  18. My questions are - if I use the 1st option and do not like the seat option presented to me, can I switch to option 2? Also - is option 2 only for single games? It states 2021 and 2022 season - but I'm assuming that you can't use any remaining balance at the end of the year to offset the cost of my season ticket package for 2022. My concern with the option 2 credit is how many seats will be available for each game. I have a Saturday package and prefer to attend weekend games. I'm concerned, depending on how much limitation there is to crowd size, that tickets will not be available for games I want to attend on Saturdays or the available seats will not be in locations where I care to sit. Also, if I choose package one, can I still exchange for other games like I always could? edit: Just re-read and saw last line of option 1, so I assume that means "Yes", I can opt to option 2 if I don't like the seat location they give me.
  19. Very Sad! Just saw him on the news with the last week or so getting his COVID vaccine shot. Edit: Sorry - just realized that may have come across as an anti-vax comment. Was not intended that way at all and not trying to stir up any discussion in that direction.
  20. Just looked at what you are describing...believe it was the CDC website. It is outdated by a few days. Is this what you are talking about? Still does not provide a breakdown of the results of each test. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/testing-in-us.html Edit: Although I guess you could take the number of US cases on the JH site (1,323) and divide by number of tests on the CDC site (11,079) and come up with a rough estimate of percentage of positive results (approx 12%). Not sure if that is entirely accurate though.
  21. I'm aware of the popular coronavirus tracking map put out there by John Hopkins U. However, is anyone aware of any site that has stats in regards to the breakdown of positive vs. negative results for all tests given so far. Possibly doesn't exist since I'm hearing that the government does not even have clear data on just the total number of tests administered to date (which seems crazy).
  22. Wow, people are young. Buster Poindexter had a small run of success in the 80's (or early 90s?). He was one of the ghosts (I think ghost of Christmas past) in 'Scrooged'. I'm guessing this is not the guy that Turborickey was talking about. If he's old enough to have been watching premium cable in the 80s, he would probably know who Buster Poindexter is.
  23. I would be curious to see how this whole situation would have played out in the world and in the U.S. prior to the internet and around-the-clock news cycle era.
  24. Oddly enough, I always think of 'Hannah and Her Sisters' when I think of Max Van Sydow.
