  1. Probably about as many United States NBA fans remain Cavaliers fans after LeBron's tenure there.
  2. And I'm aware that most people don't collect "as an investment" but let's be honest, at some point you'll wanna pass these on to someone, who will either keep them or sell them...or have something to fall back on when push comes to shove...I don't see bobbles losing all values like beanie babies, but I don't know how much value a lot of them will hold up 25 years from now either...
  3. I really didn't have any problem with collecting retros or shelling out 30 bucks for one, and if people want to that's totally fine. My beef is the number of bobbles put out each year. If they kept it to four and still had retros, great. They put out 10 a year now and throw in retros, it's overkill. To keep collecting to keep up with a "complete set" is silly, so I got out. Its something I started debating a few years ago, removed myself for the most part last year, and really don't care to get more than a few this year. It's really not much of a chase these days as much as an OCD type mentality, so it's not worth it. To get the Kent, Hall, or Mark A isn't worth it to me. I'd rather put that money towards a nice looking Hank Aaron or Jackie Robinson card. Those are likely to go up in value over time and and have demand by people everywhere vs Wisconsin. In 2003 the Brewers NEEDED bobbleheads to fill the seats. Now they playoff contention teams put people in seats. I would imagine that the attendance on a Sunday with or without a Doug Melvin bobblehead would probably be pretty close. Just my two cents.
  4. I've tried telling this to Brewers officials but it's really annoying and stupid to have either white or retro. Do a retro regular, navy alternate. A gray home and a navy away alternate. Do a Navy home and a white alternate. Don't even announce what the regulars and alternates are. That would really cause havok on ebay and make people freak out.
  5. Yah, I showed him some quick eBay current and completed listings, and he quickly changed his tune.
  6. Got an Ed Kirkpatrick signed 77 Brewers card off the Bay tonight. I'm jumping into my first Brewers card signed project...and not sure how much something like that would/should sell for...it was 13 and shipping. Figured it was worth it as I don't really know how many Brewers cards he signed. The sig was post accident I'm assuming. Also picked up 10 signed rookie cards for 17 from a board member. Pretty soon I'll get going on the TTM route, but if I can pick up cards for a buck or two, I'll save myself the time and just pick it up.
  7. I just found this thread as I was looking to contact him as well. If anyone knows of an email to reach him please let me know. He's a great guy!
  8. Of course they added a new one. I'm guessing he's pitching in A? I'd assume A or C wins. B is pretty boring.
  9. PM Sent.
  10. Yah, I think I got a little excited about the scans on the Topps page. I'm sure I wouldn't hit anything like what they are showing. I was looking at it more for a buy-thrill-flip type thing, but I'm just gonna hold off. I did love the Turkey Reds. If they run those again next year I'm gonna go all out for em on the pre-order
  11. A guy at work with was trying to tell me these might end up going for well over 100 for the regulars and 250 for the retros because people in Japan love Aoki so much. LOLZ.
  12. Are any of you thinking about diving in on the Topps Tribute cards? They go on sale on the 10th I believe. I dunno what they go for, but it looks like it won't be cheap. 350 a box? But each card will only have 250 made....and 30 cards a box.... 3 relics and 3 autos a box... weighing my options here. It's a lot of money...
  13. At the On Deck rummage sale I believe I saw a Cerveceros jersey, but it was for a coach...Iorg or Sedar, can't remember which.
  14. I've been thinking about this for awhile now, and pulled the trigger last night. I bought a lot of 15 raw Griffey Jr rookies. I plan on going through and sending in the ones that can at least get 9's. If 2 can get 10's I'm up 150ish. It's a calculated risk, but Upper Deck cut everything really well, so the main thing is the centering. Worst case scenerio is selling the rest off in smaller lots and taking a minimal loss or breaking even.
  15. lilrebel. love it. makes me feel a little better about dropped 340 on 15 Griffey Jr Upper Deck rookies last night (which I'll get graded, the ones that can hit 9 or 10, keep one and resell the rest)
  16. Yeah, I'm guessing at least 250. But it is also spring training, so it could be closer to 150... Either way, nice find. (And I too am curious how much that went for)
  17. wow. nice pulls. how much does a case run?
  18. That's a great point. I could make a stab at contacting someone in the Brewers office via email tomorrow, unless someone else is interested.
  19. With this recent update I'm gonna get a handful of these and the minor league ones and that'll be it. 10 years of collecting and trying to get everyone that's come out has run it's course. Don't have the space for em currently and i know I can always find em if I change my mind later. This is part of the reason I got out of baseball cards 20 some years ago, and the same reason I've lost interest in bobbleheads now. When things begin to be marketed as "limited edition, collectable, and rare" it becomes the opposite of that.
  20. Some nice cards JRod. Did you collect the Turkey Red this year? I'm missing about 7 from getting the whole set. Also, Jean Segura has one of the worst signatures I've seen in awhile.
  21. Apparently there's 50,000 copies of the first pressing in 1992, would it be that impossible to find with those numbers?
  22. I've been trying to find Uecker's other book ever since I finished Catcher in the Wry to no avail. I believe it exists, but cannot find it for the life of me. Was it a limited print? Did it never make the shelves? I've looked on Barnes and Nobles site and Amazon and can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.
  23. I know she's a minor celebrity for her looks and I've seen guys getting their picture taken with her, but as Outlander said she keeps to herself during the game. Who is front row andy?
  24. The first time I went into Miller Park for their Open House I went in at the left field and walked to center field for my first view and I was floored. I recommend doing that. Take a lap around the concourse and show off the Braves area, and the Wisconsin Born area. I get a kick out of all the signed baseballs from players and familes near left field entrance. Look on Stubhub or eBay and see if anyone is selling tickets to the nyce club (or whatever its called). that's a lot of fun. Then I'd watch the game as you normally do. I mean, unless they absolutely hate the game they should be there to take it all in. There's a lot of great stuff at Miller Park, but obviously thats what your there for. Hope you all have fun!
  25. That's awesome Doc. I plan on doing that too. I was gonna start this week while I was on spring break. I wanted to get each players first Brewers card signed. Trying to keep it to Topps if possible. The first thing I was gonna do was just make a list to see which cards I'd be searching for. Aaron will be the most expensive one... I'm hoping the rest I can get through the mail...
