  1. WHOA WHOA WHOA!!! 33 RUTH GOUDEY!!!! Lemme rephrase that...WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!!!!
  2. Who's on it this year? Found out my in-laws no longer get the Sunday paper. I always get the poster from them Easter Sunday. And then it just sits with the other pile of posters.
  3. I never figured out why someone would want to buy a complete set of the Brewers bobbleheads. The chase is part of the fun of collecting anything. There really isn't any motivation to keep collecting if its all at your disposal at once. Even if this collection seemed reasonably priced I wouldn't find it very enjoyable to just buy up everything in site just because I had the money to do so.
  4. Thanks Stache! You have some beauties too!!! I don't really know where to start with modern. I'd like to get some higher end Braun, Fielder and Yo cards, but just don't know where to begin. I might be hitting you up in the PM for some info. Do you go to the Gonzaga shows? You going to the National this summer? I inherited 95% of those from my step dad after he passed away. My mom let me cherry pick through all his sets before my step sister foolishly up and sold them (and got completely hosed, also didn't give me a chance to counter offer...at least I got the good ones!) He didn't have any complete sets, but I still kick myself for not taking all his 52s, 53's or 54's as I'm sure she wouldn't have known, but I was trying to be respectful to my mom's wishes. So after I had those 100 or so slabbed I couldn't just stop and I began collecting the Milwaukee Braves. My goal is to get each set in the PSA registry sitting between a 6 and a 7. Those 8 commons go for a ridiculous amount of money so you can forget about the stars. I'm trying to acquire the knack for grading on my own since it's cheaper to buy raw and send them in, what I thought were 6 or 7's have a lot of time come back 5's. Yet I've had also nabbed a few 7s. The later vintage commons are cheaper to buy them graded then to send in as the technology to cut was better, and cards became more popular. Unless you REALLY can spot a 9 or something, which I can't do. After I get these Braves sets completed I wouldn't mind getting into a 53 Topps raw set, or the 53 Bowman colors. Those cards are just gorgeous. The 52 Topps are too of course, but Mantle will kill yer budget before you can even get to Robinson, Mays, and the others. I also would love to get my hands on all of Jackie Robinsons cards, each one is just beautiful.
  5. they ran a story on this on cbs 58 on Friday night. they showed me and some friends tailgating from last year during it. i've been trying to find the link to the story on their webpage but cant. if someone who knows more about using a search engine or archiving than i do wants to find this for me, that'd rule.
  6. bacon, have you ever realized you had to go, but then once you REALLY have to go you have to wait around for 20-30 minutes before you can? A) it's terribly hard to do B) it's terribly unhealthy
  7. Here are the highlights of my collection: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0012_zps26412d00.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0008_zps60520d81.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0009_zps9de8e825.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0010_zpsc08cd664.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0011_zpsf3f0984b.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0013_zps8d9428d0.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0014_zpse2489238.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0015_zps022a4b28.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/bikeage77/Graded/Scan0016_zps9dc752f7.jpg
  8. I don't trade cards either but that's usually where a lot of the collectors BS with each other.
  9. Why don't some of you guys ever post over in the trading post?! We'd love to have you over there!!!! For a long time all I collected was signed baseballs from HOFers and Brewers. Then I got really big into bobbleheads (which I'm starting to lose interest in). Got back into collecting cards about 18 months ago. I'm working on collecting all the Milwaukee Braves in a PSA 6 or 7. I was buying raw and submitting, though I think it's probably cheaper to buy them already graded at this point. I've completed 1954 Bowman, 1955 Bowman, 1955 Topps, and am one card short of 1953 Topps and 1954 Topps. I'll let you guess which card I'm short in the 54 set I've been buying Brewers team sets as they pop up, but I haven't gone all out in finding them. I bought two boxes of 2013 Topps and they were pretty fun to rip, I got a few good cards, but I probably didn't break even on them. At about the same time I got 10 packs of the 2013 Topps Turkey, and those were a BLAST to rip. I pulled a 1/10 Weeks signed card and two 1/630 (?) Fiers signed. I'm a few cards short of completing that set and I've really enjoyed getting those. After that though, the Heritage set came out, and that's just a whole new thing (and those cards look pretty ugly anyway). What I plan on starting to do is getting every Brewers player signed on their first true Brewers card through the mail. Hoping for mostly Topps, but there's some guys that played 12 games in their career that have a card out, and it's Fleer or Donruss. It'd be great to have a Yount 2008 1/1 refractor game used patch/bat signed something or other, but it'd be even better to have his signature on his rookie card. Even if the card would grade at a 4. This will project will take a long time, as there's close to 700 guys, but I think it'll be relatively cheap and a lot of fun. I'll post some scans of my favorite cards soon.
  10. i really hope that they figured out they need more than 6 toilets per parking section this year...i always go to the brat house, the line is long for that too, but there is also 20+ urinals/stalls to choose from so it goes relatively quick.
  11. Just got back from there, got 4 for 35 each in Terrace. I had forgotten about the demand pricing. But still 20 cheaper than stubhub before fees. Thanks for everyone's help!!!
  12. I like that it's a powder blue uni. I liked the 07 mini of him with the lineup card better, but you really can't duplicate that pose and there's not much else you can do with a manager.
  13. I'm assuming it's a promotional thing because of the sponsorship. Too bad the Miller Lite logo is on there.
  14. Two guys pulled the trigger and got theirs. Now the other two are gonna have to find theirs one way or another. Thanks for the input!
  15. I have 4 friends that are weighing their options on getting opening day tickets from stubhub or holding out until Monday and trying to find some in the lot. Has anyone ever done this? I could see how waiting could have its perks, as you can find drunks that will sell their tickets because there is no way they'll make it into the game, but it's quite the gamble. Also, it might be tough to get pairs and much more difficult to find four. How are the scalper prices, is it worth it to risk going through them? Thanks in advance!
  16. What's bugging me right now is how some of my friends manage their money. I have a few friends that used to get 10 packs with us, and now they don't be cause they can never afford it for one reason or another. It's not a ton of money considering you get 11 games. The tough part is that we always renew at Christmas time (which makes sense for the Brewers to do renewals a few months after the season ends, and far enough in advance before the season starts). He wants to go to opening day but can't believe tickets are 50-ish each for the Terrace Reserve. However, he knows it's the hottest ticekt in town. I try to tell him every year to put 5 bucks aside, it's a minimal deposit, as much as a beer at the bar, and when December comes up they'll have enough, and then some. So any rate, I'm scouring Stubhub for my buddies, two guys wanna get their tickets, and one guy now doesn't wanna spend the extra money, and wants to hold out. Yet he will go out to dinner, to an admirals game, and maybe a bar after, and that's 50 bucks in a night. Drives me mad.
  17. I agree there are more, just 2000 given out...go down, get 20 tickets, pay for yer trip.
  18. Hope you guys like "Gangnam Style!"
  19. That'll continue until everyone who wants one gets one and then the price drops. I know there is only 2000 of these, but that's the trend on all these. Sell em while they're hot.
  20. Personally I like the east lots (Yount/Uecker). It's easy to access since it's right off the freeway, but again, get there early. You can also access this lot from Canal Street. Depending on where your friends live and where you are staying, that may or may not be a good option. All the lots will be packed, and all will be partying. Whatever your friends preference is, you probably can't go wrong. A few other tips, unless you can find a median, this isn't the game to bring yer glove or a football to throw around. Also, at first notice you might have to use the rest room, grab a beer and walk over to the port-a-lets, the lines can get pretty long. You don't wanna be dancing in line.
  21. If you plan on tailgating (which you should), be prepared to either get to the lot super early (like 8am) or get there later. Either way you'll be waiting for either the lot to open or the cars ahead of you to get in. Bring a grill, get some brats going and have some beers with friends. Opening Day at Miller Park can be like St. Patrick's day or New Years. Be prepared for people completely hammered. Most people you'll be around should be super friendly, as long as your not talking trash about the Crew that's not to say people won't be hassling you for wearing Rockies gear, because to some extent they prolly will.
  22. Turbo, during the playoffs a few years ago there was a ticket mixup (one of our guys had to sit a row behind us), I believe we got 25 for concessions. Worked out pretty well. Once you recieve everything, ask them if there will be any sort of compensation for the hassle. They don't wanna lose any costumers, they'll treat you right, but you might have to request it.
  23. Went through my ticket rep. Got my four tickets, they'll be in the mail soon enough. Done.
  24. BrewersSuperCollector knows the numbers on the Attanasio and the Hall. He's told them to me, but I don't wanna misqoute him.
