  1. With a pretty affordable contract, would it be worth trading K-Rod and Gamel for Trumbo? He hits for power and his OBP probably come up with more time. I don't know how high LAA is on him though. The Angels have other players to fill in that DH role and there's obviously no use for him at 1B anymore.
  2. miggs like anything with a barcode, i don't think it's possible to scan something twice...besides, you'd have to leave and come back to get one ticket...doesn't seem worth it to try...
  3. You can't honestly think that the Rangers are concerned that Hamilton is gonna go back to being addicted to heavy drugs do you?
  4. It's all lottery. I can't remember the number that each guy does. When you get there, there'll be staff that asks you which player you'd like to enter the lottery for. You'll get that ticket, and then they do the drawing later on and put it on the jumbo screens throughout the convention center. As said though, you don't need to get there at an ungodly hour, which I love.
  5. I'd much rather read nonfiction as well. I have never seen Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura, or Austin Powers. Otherwise, I've pretty much done it all!
  6. There is a couple that is close friends of ours that had a puppy get loose and hit by a car at 10 months, and their replacement dog ended up with a type of lung cancer as a puppy and had to be put down at just over a year old. It's so tragic to see pets not make it a full life. I've been very fortunate with every pet I've owned to live well past expectancy, but I always tear up (as I am now) when I hear about others animals. My prayers to you and your family, I hope Cleo can outlast lymphoma. And as someone said, Cleo probably can't thank you enough for getting her out of the situation she was in before she met you guys.
  7. theavrock, tickets have gone on sale, but i'm sure they are still available...they're right around 20. Justin, are the Lemonheads playing It's A Shame About Ray at every show on their tour?! if that's the case, I'm going. That's among my top 50 albums ever (probably in the high 30's low 40's somewhere)
  8. Sounds like I need to check that game out! We have people over for game night here and there and usually play Loaded Questions. We just turn everything into inappropriate topics. Which sounds like something similar.
  9. MLB: Brewers and A's - Like Brettac1 I grew up loving the Bash Brothers and Ricky Henderson. Then became interested in them again when the Big 3 showed up and when Moneyball became a big deal. I haven't followed them very closely the past two seasons (outside of Jamile Weeks), but they're a team I root for. NFL: Packers there's really no team I root for all that much, but because of fantasy football I know a lot about individual players. NBA: No interest NHL: I don't follow hockey enough because we don't have a team. I wish we did, but that probably won't ever happen. I always root for a Canadian team in the Stanley Cup though. I despise southern hockey teams since they don't get snow. I don't follow much college sports either.
  10. Oh man Hawning...we had a pretty good new years...but I was trying to come up with other stuff to do since the past two years we've ended up at the same house. While it's fun, I thought maybe there was some different options of stuff to do...this thread did not help much.
  11. i hear ya jason...i like having the higher end ones more so than the regulars...it's cool to have them all, but i'm actually more interested in the retros/alternates...obviously thouse are harder to come by, which is why i'd be happy with just one giveaway, just to avoid ebay or trying to trade with someone at the game
  12. it's a nice sig, but it looks like the ball has some yellowing/brown spots on the stitching and a small one on the sweetspot...lemme know if that's the case or not.
  13. great. 5 more bobbleheads to get. can't wait. I'm kinda losing interest in bobbleheads. I have no more room for em, and by teams making them "collectable" or "rare" the same thing that killed my love for baseball cards and comics is happening now.
  14. Ask them to sweetspot the ball too (in the center, between the seams). Most will probably do it anyway, but I always ask just to be sure. I always ask for them to put their number down too, again, most will. Certain guys will inscribe something else too by request (ie Nyjer Morgan will put T-Plush if you ask him, or Axford will put Axe Man. A few years ago Mike Cameron would put 3xGG for his Gold Glove wins). Braun may or may not put MVP. He was under contract with Mikita and wouldn't sign ROY a few years ago because of that. If you do ebay, look on there to see if you can get ROMLB from there. At most sporting good stores they're usually 15 a ball, depending on shipping costs you could save a few bucks going through this route. Most vendors at Fan Fest will have the UV protected cubes for a couple bucks each.
  15. Many people have traditions, some very simple, others elaborate. I'm kinda in between. My fiance, myself, and a group of friends went out for sushi last year and will be doing that again. Except this year it'll be for lunch. Then there's gonna be 4 bands playing in my friends basement, followed by a boxing match at the Riverwest Public House. Then to a friends house to bring in the new year. Then stumble home at a reasonable enough time so I can watch the Packers on Sunday. Should be a good time. Wecontemplated doing one of those fancy pants dinner deals with wine tasting, but decided maybe next year. Has anyone done one of those? What do you do for New Years?
  16. Hawning, You've waited long enough and made a pretty solid effort to locate the owner. I say it's all yers. I don't think you should worry about donating it either. The only reason you may want to is if others in the library think you should, you can always have it in the back to listen before or after you close. One question though, how many GB?
  17. It's not too often I go to "big" shows, but I saw Ted Leo and The Pharmacists last spring, and that was fantastic. Best pop band going in my opinion. In February The Promise Ring will be playing a reunion show at Turner Hall and I'd imagine that will be a can't miss. Nothing Feels Good and Very Emergency are two of my favorite albums to come out of the late 90's early 00's, and I'm gonna assume they'll play a ton of those songs. Can't wait.
  18. Tell ya what, I'll give ya 125 and we'll call it a day.
  19. While this is all speculation from 1250 and Daily Dish, the timing based on the weekend is mind boggling. We know Greinke is emotional, and it could very well be to make a push for an extension, but who knows what's going through his head.
  20. As reported by Jerry Crasnik and MLB Daily Dish. AM 1250 also has reported he wants a trade. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/3796/zack-greinke http://mobile.mlbdailydish.com/2011/12/12/2630199/zack-greinke-leaves-caa-signals-intention-to-request-trade Great.

  22. Awhile back I posted that I inherited some cards from the 50's: I got the best of the best graded and returned yesterday. I decided that while I'm going to hang onto what I have so far, my best fincancial interest of collecting is going to be target each Milwaukee Braves set. Anyone else working on anything like this? I'm going to start by focusing the 1953 Topps set, 1955 Bowman set, and 1955 Topps Set due to their size (and that I have Aaron in the '55 sets already). Just comparing prices on eBay and the PSA site dealers, I think it's more affordable to go through eBay and future card shows. Anybody got any tips? Should I hunt out nongraded commons and submit them? I'm aiming at getting 6-7's or better. Thanks.
  23. I guess this is as good of place as any to post this since I don't wanna start a new thread for it, but did anyone get that catchers gear that was listed last week? I was outbid by a dollar. Which is probably for the better, but I missed out on the Surhoff ones that popped up about a year ago. Neat item. Unfortunately I wasn't at home to watch the bidding last minute. 100 was all I could go up to.
  24. i got myself an onfield hoodie, a k-rod tee, a counsell tee for my fiance, the county stadium book, 5 records, and a miller park 10th anniversary pint glass. they had the shot glasses for 5...all and all it was pretty crowded...last year i got a mike cameron bat for 75, this year i saw dave bush bats for 125. prices did go up on game used stuff. they had one fitted hat I liked for 10 or 15, but i have enough brewers hats so i passed. Did anyone see any pennants or playoff programs? I was hoping to come across those as in 2008 they were a buck. But didn't see any. It's funny someone bought 40-50 records. I mean, if the Brewers can't sell em... but I'm sure he can get 3-5 for each of them. I just don't have that kinda patience.
  25. I bet you can Brian. Just say you put both tickets on one bill.
