  1. have any of you ever gone through this process? my step father passed away and my mom let me go through his card collection and told me i could take any cards that stood out. i came across some pretty nice cards including 3 50s era hank aarons, a 55 jackie robinson, 2 bowman mickey mantles, among others. there's a few binders of 50's football cards too, though i don't know much about them. i also came across rookie cards of bench, gwynn, winfield, ripken, molitor, and sandberg. while looking at ebay i noticed people bid on these older cards that aren't graded, but the value isn't nearly as high as the ones that are (especially once you get into the 70's and 80's). i don't plan on selling these, but i'd like to have a better estimate of their worth. some i believe are in great condition (unfortunately the mantle second year bowman has the top layer of the card missing in one corner)... these are my main questions: so is this an expensive process? is there a place in the milwaukee area i can go, or do i ship them? can i go to a local store and have them tell me what cards they think should be graded and which ones shouldn't be? any help is greatly apprecieated!
  2. i'd go with a silver sharpie, it should be the cleanest, either that or a silver paint pen...i'd like to get nyjer to sign an SI too, but I won't be around saturday...if anyone's going that wouldn't mind getting two lemme know...i can pay you in advance, obviously.
  3. It sucked when everyone started liking Green Day. Sell outs.
  4. I have an extra 2010 Beer Vendor I'd like to trade for a 2011 one. Any takers? Please inbox me. Thanks!
  5. i saw a few people get back in line for a second one...and at the rate he was going, it wouldn't surprise me if they got him twice...it was moving right along
  6. how long did it take for you guys to make your order and recieve it? i need to get on this before my fantasy football draft.
  7. if you can, get there early and go to the right field loge level. there's about 7-10 tables right before the foul pole. they have 4 barstools each at them. i've sat there a few times and they were great. otherwise i always say that by the 4th inning if you've noticed unoccupied seats, go sit in them. worst thing that can happen is you have to move.
  8. I have a Morgan ball he signed "Tony Plush" and another one he just printed "T-Plush" on it. I'll probably go to get Axford tomorrow on my bobblehead. I'm gonna do the same thing Tristar, bring a book and a chair...
  9. nice. i dont know how many of each version there is. i think the Beermeister is supposed to be a "modern" or "futuristic" version of Bernie Brewer. I actually like that bobble a lot because it has Miller Park on it.
  10. Wednesday 8/17 from 1 to 2. Morgan's line was ridiculous last week. If you got there an hour early you were pretty much out of luck. I'm hoping K-Rod does one signing while he's in Milwaukee. These weekday summer signings are pretty awesome, I hope they do them more next season.
  11. that's a good question. i bet you can try setting up shop outside miller park grounds? near the VA or off of bluemound.
  12. I'd go 15 shipped and 12 at the park...if you get a crew to get out there and sell before gametime, you can make a killing...the cubs have tons of t-shirt vendors at wrigley, i'd imagine that you guys would do just as well...obviously the sooner the better...i think morgan will be around for a bit, but k-rod will not be in milwaukee after this season
  13. from my understanding this was a bobble given out if you signed up for a credit card during the all star break at miller park. there is actually two versions of it, one with beer bubbles coming down the barrel and over the stadium and one without. both go for about the same price of about 25 bucks. this one is pretty heavy duty. it's probably the heaviest bobble that i own. still need to get one with the bubbles, but not really on my priority list.
  14. agreed with 20fry, and agree with take off the website on the back. i might be interested in the 8th/9th shirts if they come out soon...this is only a shirt that i'll be able to wear till the end of october...
  15. If anyone can help me with the following that'd be great. I have an extra Bob Uecker admirals, and a Manny Manatee with no box, otherwise the only other stuff I have left is pretty common...shoot me an offer. I'd prefer to buy the commons and trade for the minors or the retro, as they are closer in value. the regulars can be found, in time for much less than the Uecker or Manny. 2011 Casey McGehee (regular) (got for 3.79 plus shipping on ebay) 2011 Zack Greinke (retro) 2011 Beer Vendor 2011 Brendan Katin (Nashville) 2011 Don Money (Nashville) Thanks! Corey
  16. I posted this same thing for another visitor coming up from Cincy not too long ago... Some of if probably isn't your style, but take what you can from it. Like others said, if you want to be near the action, stay in Milwaukee or at the very furthest, Wauwatosa or West Allis. Delafield is pretty far from Milwaukee and Brookfield is also a bit out there. Check priceline for hotel rates, you can probably get them better than if you call. Lowball them by a ton. They give you a counteroffer which usually works. First off, you HAVE to tailgate. You can get a disposable grill for cheap at most hardware stores, but if you are driving up, you may want to bring a small weber. These are my recommendations to you: *Lakefront brewery is hands down the best brewery tour in the state, and I'd dare say country. One magazine stated "If Miller Brewery is the Harvard of beer tours, than Lakefront would be it's Animal House" take that for what you will. They do tours early in the afternoon during the summer as well, so you'll have plenty of time to get to the game. *Sobelman's has the best burgers in town. It's located on St Paul which is fairly close to where you're staying. They also have a second location that uses grassfed beef on the east side of town. Both are about the same distance. Tallgrass is healthier, yet I prefer the St Paul location. *My favorite italian in town is a little hole in the wall place called Cafe Centro in the Riverwest neighborhood. They open at 4 or 5 so you should be able to get in there and eat before the game. *Oakland Gyro's is the bar time place of choice around here. Your basic gyro/burger joint. *Blue Egg has great breakfast on the west side of town if you feel the need to explore over there. *My favorite Mexican place is called Guanajuato (or GTO's) in Bay View. They give you way too much food for a very reasonable price. The margarita's are also pretty strong. *Right across the street from there is the Sugar Maple bar with 60 craft/microbrews on tap. They start at about 5 bucks a pint, kinda pricey, but lots to choose from. *Another great Mexican place to check out is Conejito's which is very close to the park, cheap and great mexican food served on paper plates. Margarita's are also pretty good. People buy the salsa by the pint. There is generally some characters in there, well worth the experience. *Someone mentioned going to Comet Cafe, however, I'd say their counter part Honeypie is WAY better. Also in Bay View, they also carry a lot of great bottled microbrews. *The Old German Beer hall is also excellent, go in and get a liter of beer for 10 bucks, try their giant pretzels, and while your at it, make some friends and do a shot-ski. Right next door is the Milwaukee Brat House which generally has ridiculous deals, like 3 for 1's on taps. *If you're coming in on a Thursday, check out Stubby's between the lower east side and Riverwest. They have 2 dollar off pints Thursdays, and there's probably 50 to choose from. They carry tons of local beers, along with other nationally known micros. I've been told the food is pretty great too, and they give you huge portions. *While I absolutely hate the area, many love Water street, I'd imagine it'll be nuts after 11 or so because Summerfest is going on. Stay with the 3rd street theme, or you can barhop around Brady Street which isn't too much further. If you want to get into the hole-in-the-wall bar scene then go check out the Riverwest neighborhood (the punk rock/alternative/artsy part of town). Inbox me if that interests you at all, I don't know what you're into so I don't wanna type it all that out for nothing. *Down on the lakefront is Discovery World, which is essentially right next to the art museum. I haven't actually been in it since they relocated, but there's a lot of fun and interesting stuff in there, though it's probably more kid oriented. (Can someone verify that?) Any other questions, feel free to contact me, I'd be glad to help!
  17. I'm not gonna think about the 2012 ones yet...I do think it'd be worth it to write to the Brewers and tell them to mix it up and upgrade the quality a bit...I really don't wanna see another retro bobblehead ever...I liked the alternate navy jersesys way more...
  18. I print the shirts for our schools end of the year picnic. I enjoy it, but don't really know how to make a screen. I always have a friend do it for me. It's a fun process, but if you do it solo without any machines, it can be a long one as well.
  19. I'm gonna save you the trouble man. Nobody here wants yer Blue Jays stuff...many here, including myself have been pulling yer chain for the past few months...nobody here is interested in Blue Jays stuff...you should probably create Bluejayfan.net, you might have some success. PS. See ya in the Drunk Thread everyone else!
  20. Brian, are you getting out of collecting? seems like the only time you post anymore is when yer selling stuff
  21. If you can find the promotion free tickets (they look like real tickets, not the two drink ones) get those...they have em all over the east side. Do yerself a favor and grab a bunch. Drink before you go, and between bands, drink more, you have a ton of extra free tickets to get back in. OR...skip the garbage opening bands (there's exceptions to this rule), and just call the rave and ask what time the band you wanna see is going on. That way you don't have to sit through 2 or 3 bands that are terrible while sobering up. Get there jacked up on whatever and see who you paid to see. On that note, I saw Social Distortion there a few months ago and got free tickets for a me, my fiance, and another couple. My buddy bought me a 8 dollar 12oz bottle of high life and at that point I knew it was gonna be a sober night.
  22. good lineup today at the block party: Braun, Weeks, Greinke, Saito, Gomez, Kottaras, Roenike, Wilson, Narron. sadly I struck out and got Gomez. I probably coulda traded with someone to get Saito, but didn't think of it till it was too late.
  23. I used to like Rome a lot, but the only time I really wanna listen now is when Jay Mohr or the Sklaar brother are hosting. That said, I guess if they are gonna replace anything, I'd rather it be Rome than Dan Patrick. I'm also glad they aren't doing a show after the Big Show. I really really like Petros and Money, even though they're kinda all over the place and sports just get thrown into the mix at times.
  24. yah, i'd like a towel!
  25. let's put some guesses out ther for Ortiz as well. Bautista, Teixeria, and Hamilton.
