  1. Agreed. Nobody is being overpaid on this team. I don't like Garza's contract, but he woulda got the same deal from some other team. Unfortunately in pro sports, you get paid on previous performance, not on what you will do.
  2. In the past I've seen them at the Brewers On Deck selling for $10 each. I bought one at a Miller Park rummage sale, and got my grandpas when he passed away. They are neat to have, but are heavy and it is difficult to display a brick to make it stand out. I have both of mine stacked in my display case underneath the Bernie Chalet bank, I used them as a riser. I'm sure you could bring em to Gonzaga or the Clarion (They have a show Saturday, 5311 S. Howell) and someone would probably take them off your hands if you wanted to get rid of them fast. Another thing to consider is that County Stadium was huge, and there were plenty of bricks to hold it up.
  3. reillymcshane, where was Stormin' and Vuks located?
  4. Would be cool if the fans at games would chant: FEAR THE BEARD I guess I'd be fine with that, though it seems so cliche by now. Seems like 2/3 of MLB has beards now. My favorite cult players for the Brewers are as follows: 1. Derrick Turnbow 2. Nyjer Morgan 3. Russell Branyan 4. Gorman Thomas 5. Todd Coffey
  5. Do they make custom shirzeys? That could also be an option if they don't offer the retro logo online.
  6. Probably to no surprise, but I had wrote Mary Burns, Bob Uecker's assistant, and he will not be signing autographs again this season. Looks like he is done with all signings except the 5x7 cards at On Deck. I had just missed him last year as I sent him a rookie card (when I logged on SportsCollectors, the guy who sent the day before me got his back, I didn't get mine signed). I was attempting to get all of his cards signed eventually, and was also hoping to get the hardcover edition of his book Catcher In The Wry signed at some point. My wife worked at the UWM Library for years, and she said she has never heard of an author who didn't want to sign their book. I am going to attempt to ask her if he will do autographs for a donation, I think getting his book signed would be a very neat piece as I don't know how many hardcover editions of his book exist, but they go for a good chunk of money through amazon (a beat up hardcover copy is $40, some as high as $500.) Update: I wrote and asked if I included a donation to Brewers Charities if he would sign, and she replied "No – he would not. That will not make a difference. So sorry." Oh well, guess I better start shopping eBay, and forget about getting the book signed.
  7. And another novelty one at that. I was thinking about the Game of Thrones one, but I'm all set. If it ends up at $500 bucks a pop, so be it.
  8. My guess is that the signature is of the photographer.
  9. THIS. I don't smoke, I have no intention to if/when Wisconsin legalizes it, but what Tmwiesse55 said, and the sooner the better.
  10. Taker Vs Reigns was, in my opinion, a terrible match. Hopefully Taker is officially done. He was incredible for so long, but he just can't take the bumps anymore. I was pretty disappointed in all of WM33, Hardys were good. Nothing else really stood out.
  11. I read the rest of the replies after reading this one, and I'm still laughing. Thanks for that!
  12. I read somewhere that the Bucks are thinking about putting in a brewery in that area that's designated to hang out in before games. The Brewers could (and should have already) done the same thing. Put a brewery up, maybe expand the sausage house? They could do a pilnser, IPA, and maybe an amber. I'm sure that some parking lot space would be lost, but I don't think it would take away enough to really matter.
  13. They age em for a year in bourbon barrels. I think the amount of space they have at the brewery plays a part of it. Or maybe the supply of bourbon barrels they can get. I really can't answer that.
  14. I think they are my new favorite brewery in town. That Happy Place, Happy Happy, and the new double IPA they have is absolutely incredible. And yeah, they are super nice guys. A few weekends ago they let us stay after close for a little bit, and the head guy broke out a 22oz Barleywine from 2012, that was made at the brewery he worked at previously. I'm yet to be disappointed by their beers. Definitely check em out, and its a few blocks east from the St Paul Sobelman's If you haven't tried Urban Harvest, I highly recommend them. They usually have 8-10 beers on tap and I have loved each one, even the styles I normally don't like. I've been there too, but it was right after it first opened. There wasn't any I disliked, and they had just opened, but I thought they shoulda really just put all their energy into 4-5 beers and make them excellent instead of 8-10 that were somewhere between okay and good. However, they've been open for awhile now so maybe they've improved.
  15. SABERMETRICS?!?! NO THANKS!!!! WINS AND LOSSES IS THE ONLY WAY TO ANALYZE A PITCHER!!!! Times change. 21 year olds are now legally able to drink during this boom, and the beer culture is definitely spreading. 5 years ago I could go and buy a case of some beers after its release date. Today it's gone immediately because people camp out for it. (I'm not that silly). I doubt we'll ever see a time where yellow beers dominate the market again. Micro breweries are popping up all the time. Including brew pubs, Milwaukee has over 30 different breweries in the area, and I'm sure more will be opening up by the end of the year.

  17. Fox already has their guys in place so by contract, I doubt this can happen. Didn't Dodgers fans petition for Scully to call the World Series last year?
  18. I graduated from UWM, my Dad went to school at Wisconsin, then went to dental school at Marquette and was a longtime season ticket holder. I lean more towards Wisconsin because it's a public school, and will root for them over Marquette. However, I still cheer for Marquette in the tournament. I just enjoy being able to have some rooting interest in local sports.
  19. I would think it'd be very difficult to try to get your kids to become Brewers fans while living in a town like St Louis, or Chicago. If I were a parent, I don't think I would stop them either. It's their hometown team even if it's not your own, so kudos to buying em gear that all their friends wear. If I lived there I don't think I could swing my allegiance, but if I moved to San Francisco, Boston, or even Minneapolis, I would probably have rooting interest.
  20. I primarily wear my Brewers hats, but I have no problem wearing another teams hats. When I was in high school my dad would travel to a different convention once a year, and if it was a baseball town, he'd bring me back a fitted hat. I have a bunch of them and wear them all from time to time. I primarily wear my Brewers hats, but I try to keep those hats looking clean. If I'm working in the yard, I'll wear my Twins hat, or if it's raining, I'll wear my Pirates hat. I tend to wear my non Brewers hats a lot during the playoffs as I find some rooting interest. Wear whatever, who cares. It bothers me more when my students wear hats to match some outfit, and they can't tell me a single player of the team and just bought the hat to have it. It's especially cringing when they can't give me one Yankee, not Jeter, not A-Rod, not Sabathia, or even Mantle or Ruth. C'mon.
  21. It was nice to see USA win, and those guys bought into it. I think Leyland was a great manager choice as he played the guys who stuck with the team the entire time instead of those that were goin back and forth to their teams. Hopefully this experience will help down the line in recruiting for the US. yfinn6, I can't confirm anything, but the announcers though Arenado might have bunted just to see the ball hit the bat since his hitting had been so poor. Next at bat he got a base knock, so maybe that helped. My buddies and I jokingly asked if there would be a parade through LA tomorrow.
  22. That Italy/Mexico game was a great finish! Australia was threatening Cuba at the end too, I thought they were gonna pull it off. It was a lot of fun watching both those games last night, and I'm sure Kalle8 was doing cartwheels. Great comeback!
  23. While I was watching the US vs Twins that was happening, and later on with the Netherlands Vs Israel it happened too. It took me about 5 minutes to get the late game back on. To some degree I'm relieved I wasn't the only one. I'm hosting a WBC triple header on Saturday and I don't wanna be the guy whose app doesn't work when it matters most. Hopefully all bugs will be fixed, because I'd guess the USA/Dominican game will probably be the most viewed of this pool. The game has been sold out for awhile I guess.
  24. So if I have the MLB.TV package, am I able to watch these games that are on MLB Network?
  25. Hoffman was also an All Star closer for Milwaukee, and the Padres had wrote him off for being at the end of his career. He's more deserving than a lot of those guys on that wall, IMO
