    MLB has to get tougher with the union during next round of negotiations……….there has to be an objective criteria that they can both agree on to judge if an umpires performance is acceptable………. like every other business. Otherwise mlb is just at the mercy of the union as they protect incompetent umpires because they can. I’d rather put up with replacement umps for awhile if I had to in order to get some control over the process. its just ridiculous that everyone knows who the worst offenders are yet nothing is ever done about it.

    The bad……sucks to lose the last one of the road trip…….not much offense and no love from Buckner as usual. the good……a 500 road trip is just fine at this stage and Ashby looked good Day off and back home to face the Giants

    Your intuition was correct……Murphy said after the game that he may have slept wrong or something but he had a little left shoulder discomfort…….said they didn’t want to risk anything…….so he was down today. will be something to monitor but left shoulder is certainly better than right shoulder.

    I know you said you not in favor of dfa “ just yet” but in reality it’s not even remotely in the possibility of happening. They liked his stuff enough to trade for him a month ago…….there is no chance of that happening this year. Now the phantom injury could be interesting but I’ve always thought fans believe this happens far more frequently than it actually does………Milner situation more the exception to the rule……assuming that is what is going on now.

    I’m sure he will pitch soon……they had a rested pen to work with so I’m sure Murphy would like to get him in a non high leverage spot for his first outing back
