“Not so weird for guys like Smoak, Healy, and Morrrison, who pretty much just suck anyway. Is it a slump if they are just bad baseball players” The point is none of them are nearly as bad as they’ve shown over these first 12 games.
I know the lineup has come under heavy criticism.......and rightly so....they have performed very poorly. But It’s just a wierd thing when every one of the position players has started out in a slump to start the season with the exception of Arcia who has been average for him......(which we all know is still bad) Gamel and Sogard have been ok too but nothing special. Everyone else is well below what would have been expected coming into the season........including this guy....
Maybe things will even out a bit going forward.......we can only hope.
2 days ago CC was talking about all the hard work that Hiura has put in to,improve himself defensively and how great it was for him to see the results. Fast forward after 2 bad games and here we are........good times.
Some pre-game notes from Craig Counsell: - Ryan Braun needs to get at-bats vs. live pitching, so he won't be activated tomorrow. - Garcia will be back in the lineup today. Sogard's foot has been bothering him a bit so it was unclear if he would be playing today
So when does it get to the point where the Cardinals just have too many games to make up for it to be feasible? If they can’t play it becomes just a mess as to how to handle the games they had scheduled. I suppose you could just wipe the slate clean and not count any of their games and then go by winning percentage for playoff spots?
Trevor Bauer's 11 strikeouts through 5 innings tonight vs the Brewers are his most through 5 IP in any game of his career. The last Reds pitcher with that many strikeouts through 5 IP was Tyler Mahle had 12 through 5 IP on June 30, 2018 -- ALSO against the Brewers.
