  1. I'd rather see Peterson and Long before Reed. He's a couple years younger than Wagner, so it's not really the same thing to jump Reed up to Milwaukee.
  2. So pretty much if you are alive in Latin America and know what a baseball is... welcome to the Brewers' organization!
  3. I probably would have gone with the Cravy Tyler instead, but I can see the logic in bypassing AAA. Wagner is 24, so it's not exactly like he's hitting the majors particularly early. I look forward to watching on Sunday. I'm worried he's not going to miss enough bats in the big leagues - hopefully he'll pick up enough grounders to make up for that.
  4. This. I listen to a fair amount of announcing from other teams and BA is better than anyone else (except Vin Scully a few years ago), and by some measure.
  5. AAA uses the DH a lot, and it wouldn't hurt either Ramirez or Clark to take a stab at playing in the OF. Ramirez even has a pretty good arm. They also have more than enough middle infield coverage without Murphy. Ramirez is not blocked. The Brewers just have an odd obsession with the Pete Orrs and Donnie Murphys of the world.
  6. The Brewers currently have Donnie Wahlburg Murphy starting at 1B in Colorado Springs. Nick Ramirez isn't there why? Ridiculous.
  7. Clicked on this, clicked on the embedded Tucker Neuhaus video, at the end of which I was shown a potential Chris Smith video (yay random former Brewers), which I didn't watch, but was intrigued that he was still pitching, so I found him on the El Paso Chihuahuas' roster, and do you know who his pitching coach is? Bronswell Patrick. That's randomly awesome.
  8. Luis Aviles has a 208 OPS. Holy smokes.
  9. Too bad Spurlin and Linehan aren't also starting today. Tyler Tyler Tyler Tyler.
  10. The 2014 Packers wish to argue.
  11. He likes the Spurs - who cares why? Yikes.
  12. That's an interesting observation. The Brewers have no great options for CF other than Garcia in Brevard. They obviously aren't going to bump up Harrison, and Diaz is hurt along with Davis. Maybe Mitch Meyer goes to Brevard as an emergency CFer, with Carlos Belonis going to Appleton? Francisco Castillo used to play CF - maybe him?
  13. That's probably fair value, maybe a bit high for Peralta, probably a bit low for Lucroy. However, and this is a big however, you obviously would never get that combination of people in real life. Looking at value is fine, but in reality, you not only have to find a team that has a need for a Lucroy, or a Gomez, or a Peralta, or a Lind, etc., but they have to have and be willing to give up commensurate value. So which team would trade for Lucroy and have and be prepared to part with two top 50 prospects? Same question for Gomez and Peralta and Lind and whomever (adjusting for return value, of course). That narrows the field of potential trade matches by quite a bit. So while Lucroy may be worth Swihart and Nola and then some, Boston doesn't have Nola, and their other top 100 prospects are Yoan Moncada (9), Henry Owens (20), and Eduardo Rodriguez (87). Does Boston value Lucroy enough over Ryan Hanigan to include Moncada and Swihart, or Owens and Swihart? Is Swihart and Rodriguez plus some lower level guys enough? Would they even part with Swihart or Moncada in the first place (I've read no)? The difficulty in getting the right kind of value back is one reason I am almost positive that Attanasio is not going to go through with a total rebuild, even if that's not a great reason.
  14. I don't think anyone is/should be untouchable. I really like Nelson and Peralta, but if someone else blew the Brewers away with a great deal, they should be traded. To your point, I really don't think this team has a core of guys to build around. At least in the big leagues. Gomez and Lucroy are playing their 29 year old seasons and both should probably be traded just for the prospect value the Brewers would get in return. Braun is 31, though untradeable. I am extremely dubious about Segura's long term prospects. Gennett and David are both "meh" players. Nelson/Peralta are definitely potential long term solutions for depth in the rotation, but is either good enough to anchor a rotation? I tend to doubt it. I think it's painfully obvious that the Brewers need to tear down and retool.
  15. Roache is still striking out a ton. It has yet to be seen if he can sustain (ie for more than a month or two) an adequate batting average with the high strike out totals, or if cutting down on the strike outs will lead to less power. Echoing TheCrew, I'm not convinced it's anything more than a hot streak at the plate. Give him 3 months there - if he's still raking then, promote him. Pitching gets a lot more difficult going from A+ to AA, so no need to rush him and potentially break his confidence. And at 23, he's just about average age for A+. I don't think age is a strong argument for moving him up at this point.
  16. When you're thinking about giving someone a more challenging work assignment, you should absolutely not be asking the question, "What's the worst that could happen?"
  17. This sensation will dissipate shortly.
  18. Strong has had problems walking people in the past and he's walked 5 guys in his first 10 1/13 IP this year, so I would be careful with promoting him until he shows he is able to repeat the command improvements he exhibited last year. I'd guess that Obispo, Chapman, and maybe Ross have a leg up on promotion to AAA should the need arise, at least in the near term. I'm also somewhat concerned by Wagner's lack of strikeouts. I know it's a small sample early in the season but his K rate hasn't exactly been great the past few years and he needs to start missing more bats if he's going to be successful at AAA and beyond. Especially if his groundball rate doesn't bounce back from last year.
  19. Pete Orr was the only member of the Sky Sox' lineup that was in the organization last year at this time. And he's Pete Orr, so that doesn't even really count. Go depth go. Gross.
  20. Put a GoPro camera on Livan Hernandez and live stream whatever the hell it is that Livan Hernandez does now.
  21. Brooks Hall now has an many home runs on the year as Ryan Braun, and Clint Coulter has as many as all the Brewers combined.
  22. I noticed this last night. Hard to believe he's still just 22, seems like he's been around forever. Also surprising he hasn't been seeing a lot more time at third base, given the Brewers' glaring hole there in the upper minors. No offense to Jason Rogers, Nate Orf, Taylor Green, or Luis Jimenez.
  23. Medeiros' GB:FB is even more impressive so far.
