  1. If this is true, as long as we're trying to re-assemble the 2006 Minnesota Twins pitching staff, the Brewers may as well just sign Johan Santana too. Willie Eyre anyone?
  2. If the minor league assignment is under 20 days, no option is used.
  3. Betemit is a great idea, though I'd like to know if he could also fill in in the OF as well before signing him.
  4. It's a shame the WWE didn't sign the American Pitbulls, erm, Wolves, but then again they would have just gotten lost in the quagmire that is the WWE's refusal to invest in the tag division. Doubt Richards' attitude would have stayed positive very long anyway. Hey, at least when TNA runs out of money, Edwards can always go back to ROH and Richards has... Evolve?
  5. I like the signing, except for the part where he fills in at third base. He played 9 innings at 2B last year... yikes. I might have to track down that video.
  6. I'm impressed that Hunter Morris owns a fax machine.
  7. WWE has a FAQ on the new network here. It's kind of hard to pass up for $9.99 a month. I was imagining something closer to $29.95 a month. As for last night's Raw, the moment at the end with Daniel Bryan was really great (JR called it "Austin-esque"), but I found it bizarre to see them end the Bryan-Wyatt story so quickly. I thought there was great potential there, and if they could have made it last to the Rumble, the moment that occurred last night could have been that much better in PPV environment, with the added benefit of giving the Usos even more rub. Ah, well. I just hope this isn't a bad sign for the Wyatts.
  8. I'd rather take a flyer on Lonnie Chisenhall. The Indians are trying to move Carlos Santana to third base.
  9. Yah, it's not brain surgery. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  10. This is the first time I can recall someone being suspended while they were already suspended, so that's new.
  11. I ran the ESPN draft simulator about 50 times and every time, regardless of whether they picked 1, 2, 3, or 4, the Bucks took either Parker or Randle. It was about split down the middle which one they ended up with. They got Parker as low as 3 and Randle as high as 2.
  12. And it's not much of a break for Burgos anyway. Players are already starting to trickle into Maryvale, and pitchers have to report in 5 weeks.
  13. From the D'Vo piece: Exceptional... is perhaps more than a tad hyperbolic.
  14. Caleb Gindl should not be viewed as a center fielder. He can fill in there, but he doesn't have the speed to chase down anything hit in the gaps without playing back too far. Maybe not Kotsay-bad, but not that far off. I sincerely doubt any MLB team views Logan Schafer as a candidate to start in CF. He was given 337 PA and just barely managed to keep his OPS over 600, and it's not like he's a burner on the basepaths. He plays good defense, but for the most part there are two different kinds of backup outfielders: those who can hit but not play defense, and those who can play defense but can't hit. Schafer would be the latter.
  15. His performance in Baltimore makes it more likely that the Brewers would have some interest, wouldn't it? As JB12 noted, he had a good season, and if he wanted to come back to Milwaukee on a very cheap deal (as in 1 year, not much more than $1 mil), I'd take him. Why not? Decent pitchers that seem to like to pitch for the Brewers is something we should embrace.
  16. Blair won a Gold Glove with an OPS of 626 in 1972 and earned his final Gold Glove in 1975 with an OPS of 557. Doubt we'll ever see something like that again. In fact, I wonder if that's the lowest OPS ever by a non-pitcher Gold Glove winner. Has to be pretty close. Hegan played before my time and I only very vaguely remember him as a broadcaster, but I do remember a Brewers' game program from the early 90's that had a story about the four Brewers players who had hit for the cycle at that point. Hegan and Moore obviously stood out from Molitor and Yount a little bit.
  17. The Brewers would be stupid not to bid the max $20 mil, just like just about every team would be stupid not to bid $20 mil. There's about a zero percent chance they'd take Milwaukee's offer, but if for some reason they did, I'm sure the Brewers would figure out how to marshal the resources. Attanasio always talks about stretching the budget for the right player, and I assume Tanaka would be one of those players.
  18. I don't get the uproar, seems completely harmless to me. As Casey mentioned, they have the space, so why not? It's not like they are unveiling a 30 foot high bronze statue of Bill Wegman. Not that that wouldn't be awesome in its own special way.
  19. Catricala posted a 1000+ OPS as a 22 year old in 2011, splitting time between high-A and AA. But after that, nothing much. Wonder what happened.

  21. They would be extremely foolish to count on either Morrison's health or ability.
  22. Ok, but what is the harm in bringing in competition?
  23. Honestly, I'd rather sign Gamel than give up anything of value for Morrison. I like Morrison and think he might have a good year or two left, but he can't stay healthy and he hasn't hit in three years. Not someone I'd trade for, unless he was basically free.
