  1. Like, I know! At the end of the day, we may only be 11 games over .500 going into August! How terrible! http://images.cafepress.com/image/17881926_400x400.jpg
  2. I wonder why you're still watching/paying attention to it, if the outcome has already been determined?
  3. Everyone has the right to freak out whenever they want, but saying a game is over in the top of the third inning, down by a run, is taking a freak out to an extreme even Frank Zappa would not have recommended. http://xbf.xanga.com/42fc7b7b02532188438751/z144832811.jpg
  4. No, it hasn't. OMG! THE BREWERS GAVE UP ONE RUN!!!! http://images.cafepress.com/image/17881926_400x400.jpg
  5. It's just the third inning actually.
  6. It's much easier to average 200 hits a season than it is to get 200 hits per year over the course of a number of seasons. That's where the average argument falls down, IMO. For instance, a player enters the league and in his first five seasons, has 180, 185, 190, 185, 195 hits. Pretty good. Then, in his sixth and seventh seasons, he breaks out for 240 and 225 hits. He's now averaging 200 hits a season but has only done it two out of seven times.
  7. The best first date I ever went on was to the zoo. Lots to talk about and you get to move around, as opposed to the sometimes-awkwardness of sitting across a table.
  8. If the Summer Olympics had its own version of the biathlon, I'd be more inclined to watch it. Instead of skis and guns... roller blades and guns maybe? That and the bobsled/luge are the only reason I watch the Winter Olympics, so barring any sudden (and awesome) change of event scheduling for Beijing, I'll catch some overnight water polo action but that's about it. Or maybe if they get Tiesto to do the DJing for the opening ceremony again.
  9. It's devastating like Junior Spivey.
  10. I just got home... what did I miss?
  11. Yah, I think almost any outgoing person of average or greater intelligence with a desire to manage in baseball could be taught the requisite skills to do the job. No mystical powers are required to do the job. Just a highish level of baseball knowledge and people management ability. Could anyone just walk off the street and step into an MLB manager's role with no prior training? Of course not. People can't just walk of the street to be an accountant, CEO, studio musician, professor or electrical engineer either. Cuil

I think too many people are trying Cuil right now, because anything on the site, even the site itself, is only working intermittently. I imagine they're getting far more traffic than they expected to - the flipside of that is, of course, if they want to be the #1 search engine on the web, they need to be able to handle the traffic. I can imagine many things, including this, being better than Google, but maybe I just have a vivid imagination.
  13. Please keep comments about other games in the Non-Brewers IGT. Nice hit by Rivera, but why is he running to third?
  14. I am going to throw a party the day Geoff Blum announces his retirement. If the Cubs were smart, they'd trade for him now just to get him on the field the next four days.
  15. Here's my scouting report today on Suppan: -Gazpacho -Consommé -42x+1
  16. Sorry, when I saw the title, the first thing I thought of was: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/6304604572.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
  17. It should be an interesting rest of the season in the AL East, if the Yankees can muster a charge.
  18. Brewers ain't talkin' Marte no more. Marte and Nady to Yankees.
  19. STL, probably. New York has a better shot at the playoffs. And besides, we've shown we can beat the Cards. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Estrada's OPS+ with the Nats this year was -1 and he walked once in 53 ABs. Oofda. Maybe this'll be his wakeup call about getting in shape and being a good guy, but probably not.
  21. Games of interest, centrally timed: 1:20 - Florida @ Cubs - J. Johnson (0-0, 3.86) vs. R. Dempster (11-4, 3.05) 6:05 - Atlanta @ Philadelphia - J. Jurrjens (9-5, 3.22) vs. K. Kendrick (8-4, 4.87) 6:10 - Colorado @ Cincinnati - A. Cook (12-6, 3.58) vs. E. Volquez (12-3, 2.49) 6:10 - St. Louis @ Mets - M. Boggs (3-1, 6.59) vs. M. Pelfrey (8-6, 3.81)
  22. Okay, but much like the Wild Card Speculation thread, it doesn't need to be bumped with information easily attainable elsewhere. That this thread hasn't had a post in more than nine days tells me that barring some new discussion/analysis, the thread may have run its course. Please do not re-bump with Twins results.
  23. How does this help prove the point that the Twins are the luckiest team in baseball? Or is this your Twins thread?
  24. Motorcyclists also tend to forget lane laws apply to them. Just because you're small, it does not mean you can create your own third lane.
  25. One other big pet peeve of mine is... When you come to an intersection that has dual left or right turn lanes, people act like it's the first time in their lives they've ever had the option to choose from two different turn lanes that go the same direction. And it being the first time in their lives they've ever had the option, confusion invariably sets in once the turning commences and they have no idea what lane they are supposed to end up in. If you're in the left left-turn lane, you are supposed to turn into the nearest non-turn-only lane. If you're in the right left-turn lane, you are supposed to turn into the second nearest non-turn-only lane. And usually there are even lines! Is this really difficult? And then even when they figure out which lane they are supposed to turn into, they realize they are not in the lane they want to be in. So they swerve, usually without a turn signal, into their preferred lane. An addendum to this is the right turn variation at a stop light when there is a sign that clearly states "DO NOT TURN RIGHT ON RED FROM THE LEFT-HAND RIGHT TURN LANE" and people do it anyway.
