  1. I dunno, just eyeballing it, it looks like the Cubs have the easier schedule than the Cards, not to mention the Cards aren't actually that good. I could see the Cardinals winning as few as 10-12 games. If they went 12-15 and we win 16 games, we're ahead by one game. I think that's just about the best we can hope for realistically, though baseball is a strange game. I think the Cubs win about 14 games, maybe a few more.
  2. If Cleveland wants a starter back, Villanueva is a possibility, but trading a guy who is a big part of your winning for a different guy doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.
  3. Mike Matheny Jr. He's gritty!
  4. Home Pirates: 3 Rockies: 4 Reds: 3 Astros: 3 Cubs: 4 Away Diamondbacks: 3 Giants: 3 Cardinals: 4 IMO, this is the month to make our big move. We play only 10 games on the road all month and those 10 games are splittable. Of our 17 home games, all but 4 are against a divisional opponent and 13 of them are against what I don't have a problem calling inferior competition. I say 16-11, although another win or two is doable if we're playing well and make some moves towards the end of the month. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Congratulations to the people who guessed 16 wins. Pat yourselves on the back!
  6. Eggs Odorizzi. (Eggs over easy.)
  7. My contact rolled back in my eye like an hour and a half ago and still hasn't popped out. I'm getting a bit frustrated. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=30587
  8. I really think this draft will benefit the Brewers long term, but yes, this is not the pretty Helena squad we're used to.

  10. The whole drive on Highway 61 from the Twin Cities to La Crosse is super pretty, so is the drive on WI-35 south out of Hudson to La Crosse.

  12. No, Prince is a vegetarian! How about a dead carrot? http://toons.artie.com/easter/20050315/arg-dead-carrot-n-bunny-greenbg-url.gif
  13. Arias has been on the Power 50 in the past and should be back again soon if he produces at all. If Garcia keeps up his start, he'll be there soon too. It's just tough to put those raw, young kids on the list when we know so little about how they are progressing. Shawn Zarraga (although he's not in the same situation) has been close since the beginning of the season too, but it's the same thing with him... raw and little information. Edit: Nieves, Pascual, Arias and Luis Guerrero all received votes this time.
  14. I wonder why DiFelice's last name always gets the Branyon treatment? Anyway... The NL average ERA is 4.23, so if you want to get technical about it, DiFelice's 3.95 ERA was above average in that department. He also struck out 16 guys and walked 0 guys in 13.2 IP. That is an above average K:BB ratio, I'd have to imagine. I don't claim that DiFelice is anything special (especially against lefties) and maybe Gagne deserves another chance, but I think it's crappy that a guy who has worked so hard to get to the bigs, gets there, has success, and then gets dumped back to AAA because some ex-roid guy is making $10 mil and the team feels a need to legitimize that expenditure and maybe get some sort of production out of him.
  15. Actually, I asked him, and he's not a big fan. Does that mean we have to stop calling him that? Absolutely not. Sometimes acceptance just comes with time and repetition!
  16. If they would have signed, Lawrie would have been in the top 10 and Lintz would have been in the top 30 (though not in the top 10).
  17. It'll be up at 2 pm central time.
  18. Helena is just short on position players and needs Romanski at the plate until people get back from injury and/or reinforcements arrive. His future with the organization is as a pitcher as far as I'm aware.
  19. Past history doesn't necessarily dictate a future result. You have to keep trying with these young power arms... you hit on one of them, and you're set for a long time at the top of the rotation. I'm not sure the comparison works between those two and Jeffress anyway... Capellan lost his velocity and Neugebauer had more than 330 IP with big control problems after his third season with the organization. Jeffress still has his velocity and will have logged around 230 IP by the end of the year, with many fewer control issues than Neugie. And in a more practical sense, Jeffress is not at his maximum trade value right now, just 47.2 innings into a season shortened by a suspension.
  20. If there wasn't a dearth of OFers between Arizona and Helena, Komatsu might be considered for a promotion pretty quickly. There isn't anyone to replace him with at the moment however. And yes... that was the best performance of Mercedes' career.
  21. I'll ease some tension for you... Santo Manzanillo is NOT in the Power 50.
  22. I should also note that if Seth Lintz and/or Brett Lawrie sign before the Power 50 is posted, they will be included. Lintz is a possibility, but as we all know, Lawrie is unlikely.
  23. Escobar and Jeffress both received at least one vote ahead of the other from the Power 50 staff.
  24. You won't be seeing anything when you get banned from the site before tomorrow. Believe that!
