  1. Exciting new prospects! Exciting old prospects! Exciting! Exciting! Exciting! Exciting! It'll be up by sometime tomorrow (6/30) evening, a day earlier than promised.
  2. Unless the Twins keep overperforming or a few guys break out, they'll be lucky to win 80 games. This team always drives me nuts because they have a crappy offense that manages to score just enough runs to win most of the time.
  3. DiFelice looked good and did nothing to get sent down, Gagne had a horrible second game in rehab not to mention his 19.1 IP in the bigs. Crappy how baseball works sometimes. Get after it Mark, you'll be back.
  4. The Wild have sold out every game in their history.
  5. He was born in NYC. Edit: I always forget this... he was born in the DR but went to HS in NYC, so I think he's not eligible for the World roster.
  6. That's a misprint... Fielder will be playing rover today.
  7. The Royals might want Braddock or Jeffress back, and at least in Jeffress' case, that would be a deal breaker for me. I don't know if they'd take LaPorta, Salome, Hammond and Dillard but if they would I'd seriously consider it.
  8. I got the feeling he was a little bit of a reach and would be one of the guys to help balance the Brewers' draft budget.
  9. I'm kind of surprised Fredrickson signed for so much.
  10. Taylor Green is a second baseman by trade and a good one at that. He'll be moved back to second if and when Gamel figures out third. Even if Gamel doesn't stick at the hot corner, Green is a very viable 2B option, albeit two years away.
  11. Matt Garza pitched a 1-hitter today (the hit was a Hanley Ramirez jack) and the Rays currently hold a 4 game WC lead over the Yanks, pending their game tonight. BP gives the Rays an 81% shot at the playoffs and an average win total of 96(!) games, so it's good to be a Rays fan. (I'm a secret Rays fan, shh.)
  12. It is certainly an interesting idea and if the Brewers didn't have LaPorta and Gamel in AA I'd look at it more closely. But I think Corey Hart is going to be a fine CF for a long time in Milwaukee with Braun and someone else (LaPorta, Gamel, Gillespie, Brantley, Nelson, Errecart and on and on) beside him. OF (or guys who may end up playing OF) is the strength of a strong minor league system. I'd rather trade Fielder in a deal for a very good pitcher, say Linecum or Halladay.
  13. I think it's a good thing that McClung entered the rotation and has done as well as he has. I also think it's a good thing McClung entered the rotation when he did because by the trading deadline he'll have been given adequate time for the wheels to fall off, IMO. If things are still copacetic in late July, great... if not, then you do a trade to replace him with someone like Maddux or greater if necessary.
  14. I've been a big fan of Fuentes' for awhile now and while it would be nice to get picks for him, I wouldn't be averse to trying to get an extension signed with him either. Colorado needs pitching more than bats, so I'd see if they were interested in maybe Pena and Brae Wright as a starting point. And Briggs, acquiring Fuentes wouldn't preclude the Brewers from trading for Sabathia (or Greinke or Bedard).
  15. The Twins have now won nine in a row... this actually makes it seem to me like the odds could be in our favor to take 2 of 3 from them because they're really due to lose soon, and we have Sheeter going on Sunday.
  16. Free promotion for the BPS!!! Woo. Ahem, yes please head over there.
  17. The Jose R. Garcia with the best game of his young career, 3-5 with a double and triple... he's almost right there with Hitaniel Arias in terms of potential in the Baby Brewers' outfield. Zarraga on base a couple more times too. I'm still a bit surprised he wasn't started in Helena. Chris George is making quite the early impression as well in Arizona.
  18. So, back to brewers19's original point, if the only credit Yost can be given for the team's record in 1-run games is some sort of nebulous/indirect/quasi-credit based solely on your opinion of Yost, why bring it up in the first place? I'm pretty sure that that by this point 99% of the board knows what your opinions on Yost are. So there is no need to keep dovetailing them into discussions.
  19. Then you can't really give Yost any direct credit.
  20. You just made the opposite point you were trying to make... there is indeed no direct correlation between Yost's strategy and the team's record in 1-run victories.
  21. Is this a wise thing to type on another message board?
  22. In a similar vein, after thinking about Carlin's death for a few days the only thing I can think about is... why couldn't he have outlived Carrot Top?
  23. Are we now into to day three of information gathering, or is there just no information to gather? If problems "are now almost solely done by 2-3 posters...and all are mods themselves" I would think it shouldn't be this difficult to narrow down the examples if there are any. Anything? Bueller?
  24. I imagine Ramlow was only in the pen for a time to limit his innings. Bryson should be cycled back into the rotation sometime soon as well.
  25. Adrian Rosario is the starter for the Baby Brewers this afternoon. Rosario is a big 18 year old righty in his second season with the club.
