  2. Linebrink is still on a Greyhound bus somewhere. He should be there by next weekend.
  3. Angel had such a large lead on either Palmisano or LuCroy that 50 games won't make much of a difference. He's still a top 10 prospect in the system (especially after yesterday), and those other two are more in the 20-range.
  4. Linebrink is going to help us now. No, he's going to help us in a few days, when his wife gives birth and/or his Greyhound ticket gets him there. This trade is horrible.
  5. Doug just said no decision has been made on who to send down and none would be made until Linebrink reports Friday. Now we're not even getting him for two days? This just gets better.
  6. If that's the case this becomes a huge "don't care" for me. It becomes more of a "why are they suspending him then?" for me. If he's taking something to treat a condition, why should he be punished for it? Can the Brewers challenge this?
  7. With the promotions of Gallardo, Parra and Braun, the suspension of Salome and now the trade of Inman, Thatcher and Garrison, the minor league system's depth has had its pants pulled down and whipped with a belt. Can't complain too much if it means the Brewers are winning, but it looks like we very could well be out of BA's top 10 systems by the time next spring rolls around.
  8. Padres must believe in Thatcher more than we do because it looks like he will be joining their big league team. I was actually about to pontificate that the Padres would probably be bringing up Thatcher in the near future. That future is very near.
  9. And we couldn't even pawn off Gwynn to the Padres instead of one or two of the pitchers? C'mon.
  10. Somewhere, Jack Zduriencik is crying.
  11. I can't get over how in love with minor league baseball some of you are. Well, I'd rather we not trade our top prospect for a good middle reliever (who has never closed), who is having an off year.
  12. They've been saying the search for next year's closer is on during the season. I think we've got what's behind door number two for the 2008 closer spot, and I like it. Linebrink is a FA at the end of the season. Turnbow is still the guy in '08 as of right now.
  13. Does this make Manny Parra the Brewers' #1 prospect? Hmm.
  14. Inman, Garrison and Thatcher for 2.5 months of Scott Linebrink? Really? Why?
  15. Rachel McAdams is gorgeous as a blonde (Mean Girls), brunette (Wedding Crashers) or redhead (Red Eye). Anyone who says otherwise is just wrong. This is the most correct statement ever put forth on to Brewerfan. Has anyone seen the commercials for the new Lohan movie, "I Know Who Killed Me"? The preview barely even acknowledges that she's in the film, much less the main star. And what gets lost in all this is that she's, IMO, a pretty decent actress. Tis a shame.
  16. That's not Carl Sagan, is it?
  17. This lost me somewhere after spelling Vargas' name wrong for the second time. What's up with people thinking we are going to get Jeff Clement, anyway? I could see Jenks going out west after the season. The Brewers may even be able to work out a deal where they pick up his option and trade him to a team that needs him for a year. However, trading him right now for those kinds of guys isn't gonna happen without a number of other deals also occurring.
  18. Bob Coluccio, very nice!

  20. He has to serve the suspension on an active roster, hence the demotion to Helena.
  21. In all seriousness, though, are LuCroy and Fryer now going to leapfrog him on the prospect charts? As bad as 50 games sounds, Salome still starts next year at AA anyway. (Well, he'll miss the first week.) Lucroy and Palmisano are still a step behind him, IMO. Fryer and Bouchie are on the next level.
  22. Why not DL him for two weeks, and get his legs fresh for August/September? And by fresh I mean like that fermenting plastic bag of scallions that you bought a month ago and refuse to remove from your fridge for fear of vomitting.
  23. Can only hope it is for a performance-enhancing compound that he didn't know he was taking, like as part of a larger product. That's not an excuse, but it would be more palatable. FWIW, Helena has around 43 more games in the regular season this year.
  24. Please discuss here: p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...4330.topic Milwaukee Brewers minor leaguer Angel Salome was suspended 50 games on Tuesday for violating the drug prevention and treatment program. Salome is the 18th player in the minors to be assessed the minimum penalty since the start of December. The 21-year-old catcher was hitting .318 with six homers and 53 RBI in 68 games with Brevard County of the Class A Florida State League. From sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news...&type=lgns
