  1. Oh, lordy the end is nigh for the Brewers rotation how will they ever survive it's the apocalypse now they have to rely on the worst pitchers in the world that no one wants and ew Miley things could not be going worse fire people worst team ever they never had a plan this offseason what a joke bring back Doug Melvin something something Brad Woodall. EDIT OMG JUNIOR GUERRA RIGHT NOW DOING REALLY BAD OH MAN
  2. Yadi already left. He signed with the Marlins this offseason.
  3. Granting that baserunning stats are pretty wonky, I don't think there's agreement that he is definitely a positive value baserunner. Over the past three years, BPro has him at negative value twice and positive value once, Fangraphs gives him a positive value three times, and B-R has him negative twice and neutral once. That's 4 negative, one neutral, and 4 positive. Tough to be more nebulous than that. There is so much action revolving around Villar on the bases that I think it's difficult to give him a solid observational grade spanning the course of the year either. Some people obviously feel pretty strongly about him, in both directions. I honestly don't have a strong handle on who is right.
  4. Don't read too much into spring training lineups. I'd be quite surprised if Orimoloye didn't return to Wisconsin. He still has lots of work to do.
  5. The first 1500ish posts from the thread have been split off so as not to tax the board's software. Everyone's posts are still accessible, it's just when someone goes back and assembles all of the Alex Cobb thread into an Illyiad-like epic poem, they'll have to do a little digging.
  6. The previous two parts of the Alex Cobb thread can be found here and here.
  7. They didn’t matter at all at some point? News to me. Shrug. BPro has the Brewers at 84 wins and a game out of the playoffs. Zips has the Brewers at 84 wins and in the playoffs.
  8. This is brilliantly stated. Well done.
  9. Relying on one year of data and making no mention of underlying talent often leads people to make these kinds of hyperbolic assumptions. Most projections I've seen have Miley as a 1-2 WAR pitcher if he pitches 150 innings. That's perfectly fine for a back end starter.
  10. Assuming Miley and/or Woodruff end up in Milwaukee, I think that means Burnes and/or Peralta end up in Colorado Springs, and Medieros looks to end up in Biloxi. Guessing Houser gets the Taylor Williams treatment this year, which opens up a pseudo-starter spot. So between Houser's innings being limited early on and a spot or two opening up in CS, I think all of those guys fit between the two/three levels.
  11. Garrett Richards has the most raw talent of anyone on those lists, but can't stay healthy. Ryu is interesting if healthy, but more interesting if he can get his fastball back (velocity+movement).
  12. Are we assuming someone scoops him up or that he would decide not to stay in Milwaukee's system? Question was simply on how many catchers would be on the 40-man roster. He could certainly sign a minor league deal with the Brewers, but then he would no longer be on the 40-man. If Bandy is outrighted off of the 40-man (goes unclaimed on waivers), he would remain Brewers' property. He doesn't have the service time or a previous outright to allow him to become a free agent.
  13. I guess it depends on how you define lengthy, but Gallardo and Miley both had really good 2015s. Chacin was really good last year, and pretty good the year before that as well. I know it's not the be-all-end-all, but comparing the combined WARs of those three guys from the previous three seasons: [pre]Pitcher 2015 2016 2017 Jhoulys Chacin 0.00 1.10 2.53 Yovani Gallardo 2.57 -0.17 -0.13 Wade Miley 2.73 0.87 0.37[/pre] As for injury, which is naturally built into WAR, over the past three years Miley has averaged 172 IP, Gallardo 144.3, Chacin 117. Chacin's 2015 is really the only season in that group that was mostly lost due to injury.
  14. 3/43. Is this the Price is Right? (Price is Righthander?) What happens if I get within $100?
  15. Yikes. You might want to rephrase that.
  16. At what point does "stuck us with" actually mean "worked with the pitching coach to acquire guys that he thinks he can work with to make better"? Because that's what happened last year.
  17. And it was really over when Guerra was DL'd after his first start.
  18. Gamel is missing a couple of weeks. Playing Ichiro for a few weeks will be great marketing for them.
