  1. Interesting comment by Melvin. Perhaps there should be some Lucroy vs. Salome discussion. Is Lucroy the better catching prospect of the two? If so, shouldn't he be at AAA? (In my opinion, both questions should be answered in the affirmative.)
  2. Planning to go to both Friday and Saturday games. [Got this Sunday morning gig with work. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif] Metro is the way to go, but make sure you do have enough return fare. [Good reminder, djoctagone!] April weather should be more enjoyable than August. Tickets should be plentiful, unless Stephen Strasburg makes the rotation out of Spring Training. Can't add much more to the other posters' tips.
  3. I'm a Brewer fan in the Harrisburg, PA metro area (about 70 miles north). Not exactly Baltimore suburbs, but probably closer than most other places with Brewer fans.
  4. Per the NY Times, Chip Caray will no longer be broadcasting baseball games on TBS. Chip Caray and TBS Part Ways In my mind, it's about time. Now if Tim McCarver would also be shown the door by Fox....... Any thoughts if Brian Anderson would be a possible contender for the TBS booth?
  5. Pitch count efficiency is looking pretty good for Gallardo. Need to keep it around that 15 P/I average. Hopefully, Bosio can help him with that going forward.
  6. Cameron's the new JJ Hardy. Edit: TRWI7 - Great minds must think alike. (See preceding post.)
  7. It's not clear they won't have a replacement either. Unless he comes very cheaply, I'd rather not spend on an aging CF who has trouble making contact. His offense is likely to decline and it's not all that great now. Defensively he's still very good although not spectacularly any more and he's liable to lose a step at 37.If the talk about moving either McGehee or Gamel to the outfield (RF or LF, if Braun is shifted over) materializes--based on the idea of trading Hardy and Hart for pitching--then an excellent fielding CF will be important for 2010. Not saying it has to be Cameron, but a CF who can easily cover gap-to-gap on defense will be needed to compensate for the other two players learning their positions, especially if Braun is moved to RF. The lineup could absorb Cameron's declining offensive production (or another defensive-minded CF) if there is a boost to the offense coming out of the Catcher position. Having Cameron and Kendall in the regular lineup really shouldn't be an option for next year. Carl Crawford would be a good target for 2010. Having Crawford and Braun in the corner OF positions might even make an experiment of moving Weeks to CF a possibility.
  8. Guess the players want to get on the bus as soon as possible: so much for trying to work the count.
  9. I would have left Stetter in to drill Cuddyer, or call the old ole from Rivera right into old blue behind the plate. Steve Phillips is right, Macha should have gone off like an A-bomb.
  10. Interesting how that works out. Great break to have Hoffman fully available after last night's washout. Didn't get to hear the whole WTMJ broadcast, so I'll ask: Is YoGa slated for Monday's rescheduled game?
  11. Tristar: You could try the Metrolink-Fairview Heights stop. It's on the Illinois side not too far from the I-255/I-64 interchange, but I don't know how close it is to where you're staying. Its address is: 9200 St. Clair Ave - Fairview Heights, IL 62208. I stayed on the Illinois side before and used the Metrolink from there to get back and forth from the Convention Center, which is two stops away from Busch. The ride wasn't terribly long. Nothing seemed questionable. There was a nice, big parking lot. And it seemed safe, even when getting back late at night. Maybe someone else from the STL area has another idea, but that's my best guess based on previous experiences and having relatives down there.
  12. A little Slim Whitman will drive the neighbors crazy. I bet their dog left at home will love the yodeling in "Indian Love Call". Plus, any Martian problem will be taken care of, as well.
  13. Per the JSOnline Brewers blog: Brewers Sign Julio EDIT: Added contract to title. -PF
  14. Even the East Coast is seeing a massive drop in prices. We've got a wide range of prices here in Pennsylvania: $2.30-$2.50 toward Philadelphia, but mostly in the $2.00 to $2.20 range here near Harrisburg. (It's amazing to see the range within a metro area depending upon station location.) The fuel does have 10% ethanol added due to air quality issues. Haven't been to New Jersey lately, but stations in Camden and Trenton were usually running about $0.20 cheaper than Philadelphia, so it could be reaching the $2.00 mark there. Was near Baltimore on Friday, and fuel was in the $2.30-$2.40 range.
  15. October 5 will have Brewers Baseball!!!!!!
  16. Pitcher's best friend right there. One more Torres.
  17. DE-FENSE, DE-FENSE Now score some runs!
  18. That's the way to hit the righty, Hall. Back up the box.
  19. Runge widened the strike zone there on Hall. Should have been his second walk of the game. Still good plate discipline.
  20. Maybe Hart's bat can catch up with Moyer's pitching? Or maybe not.......
