  1. More likely to start a little late and agree to kick the can down the road on certain topics.
  2. I don't see this at all. If he continues to play well, he'll play more. It's just crammed with Bauers in the OF too, and I'm glad it's this way. Mitchell and Yelich could and probably will have more off days in August...or one will be hurt. I am glad Lara is up and getting the time that he is getting. When Sal and Lockridge both come back, then I get more concerned about who plays.
  3. Overall, these are the deals to get excited about! A close down closer? This year! I wouldn't do the deal if just one of these were true.... - if he wasn't in the top 5 relievers in the game. He might be #1. He could slip and still be top 20. -Miller only had a year or two left. The 3 years after this one has me sold. - we weren't loaded at infield talent for the next 8-10 years. Don't trade just to trade, but this is depth at its deepest....maybe deeper here than we have been anywhere at any time! - Pena was hitting well at higher levels. That is still a question mark....maybe not a big one but still. I remember when our can't miss catcher prospect a couple years ago was a top 100 prospect. Then he got hurt and there was slippage....nah, Pena is still a low level prospect with at least some doubt.
  4. With Frelick out, there are plenty of days for four or five guys to get playing time in outfield or DH. I really don't want Mitchell playing 3 consecutive days with his injury history. Yelich can sit a day or two every week. Bauers can play RF/LF once or twice a week to help get Vaughn in there more....Lara is fine with playing 2 games or 3 games in a series and then 1 in another.
  5. Bringing in an infielder with control doesn't make sense since we have umpteen guys coming up to play the infield positions soon. But two of those guys ala Pena/Williams/Hamilton/Ortiz could be going back to Washington. The whole lack of avg defense throws a dark red flag on this trade, though. Unless we are thinking get a lead and replace with defense late. I also think it could be Pratt at 3B, Turang at SS, and Made at 2B in 27 and 28 with Ortiz/Williams and orHamilton as backups. I still look at at TALL Pratt and see a 3B body.
  6. Pena and change at lower levels for Miller. We have huge relief innings to fill with our starters all being questionable health wise and many just going 5 innings. This move alone would solidify the back of the bullpen and allow Ashby to pitch more innings early and less late for the time being. I also figure we are picking up a SP at some point anyways....even if it is Quntana. That is coming. And both Gasser and Henderson have vacation homes on the IL. Almost a given that one of those is not finishing the season. Also, I'm not eager to give up on most of these young starting pitchers of ours, especially if just for a rental. And this wouldn't be for a rental. This would be a major get solidifying innings 7-9. I also doubt we are resigning Megil so we need a closer anyways for 27-28.
  7. Oddly it felt Murphy tried to stretch him in May/June games when the lead was comfortable….AND even after he had been removed from games for fear of injury. Why the great concern now if not then?
  8. 1. How about have all warning tracks in baseball the same width? Let’s start there. 2. And there are written notes of players’ foul balls in the press box…those things made dents and holes. How about raise that back net a few feet, 3. Pretty much every first row railing in the Loge bleachers needs to be raised….someone could easily fall. 4. Padding and gaps around the edges of the field could easily be given an upgrade.
  9. Would rather see a Pena/Fischer/Henderson for Miller than Skubal...just with the control its an easy one for me.
  10. I'm more with the thinking of Only Pena,, Henderson, and Williams For the best reliever in baseball? And he has three more years of control? I do that because of this year to help our pen. I do that because Henderson is usually hurt after a 4 game stretch. I do this because of the ridiculous talent glut we have in our infield already. And we could trade Miller in a year or two anyways...ha. Would be a great trade...like getting Fingers.
  11. Waaaaaay off this season....no doubt something BIG is happening. The next CBA plays into this too and I think the Brewers can feel rule changes ALREADY that will hurt their depth and way of getting talent. And if we are so deep at infield and outfield over the next 8 years, why aren't we trading to upgrade our team significantly? We sit tops in the league in record too. And the fans want a big move! They understand the risk...but the risk is much smaller when you have multiple options already at most positions! It's like a perfect storm! If we get mashed potatoes and a roll instead of steak I'll be more than surprised this deadline. Sounds crazy to even write that, but i will be. It will go to the shocked stage of the 2022 deadline when we traded Hader. Overall, I THINK THE FRONT OFFICE KNOWZ THEY WILL ROYALLY KICK THEMSELVES IF THEY GET PASSIVE AT THIS DEADLINE AND LOSE IN THE PLAYOFFS. THEY WILL FOREVER HAVE THE 2026 WHAT IFS OF NOT GOING BIG WHEN STACKED WITH A MINOR LEAGUE ROSTER. Plan on a biggie.
  12. Wilson might start a game or three….ask him to get 4 innings.
  13. Wow. Early give up….I think it’s about a 50/50 game now. Flip a coin. Considering the way we play. Especially at home late.
  14. Not just bad at seeing if it is a strike or ball, Sanchez has no clue when it is meaningful to do it….early counts with no one on almost always is a don’t do it.
  15. How about running out a ground ball? He put more effort into the bat flip and choreographed actions rounding the bases. Glad he is on the team. Want to keep him through 2027, yep. Seems to be selfless with the pitching staff and good for their development. And he takes a beating well and plays through injuries. I have no doubt many catchers would have called it a season last year when his thumb was messed up. But I'll continue to roll my eyes just like I do with other chest pumping 12 year olds playing baseball or basketball.
  16. Seems like an extremely low price to get two potential rotation pieces. If even one can go 4 or 5 IP and give up 2 or 3 runs 7 to 10 times this year, it’s a net win.
  17. Love the extension for Miz talks….sure would be nice if a small market like us could extend him thru say, like 2031. Oh, that’s right, we have him thru 2031 under this CBA, at least. If he throws out his arm and never pitches again, we are not on the hook for even next year. We have a pretty good situation how it is right now with Miz’s contract.
  18. Right. You are right in that you left out he bats left, ain’t that right?
  19. Williams could very well be playing backup 3B/SS in Milwaukee soon if healthy…..especially if they are dead set against bringing up Made or Fischer. I agree Jett is somewhat blocked by others for meaningful playing time long term. But not as much this year….pt is there for the taking apparently.
  20. He might be taking too many painkillers…..better watch that. Just makes sense. He was supposed to have two surgeries by now instead of one. I’m guessing he’s dealing with a fair amount of pain daily. And if Murph is going to make the pitching changes….meh, I might rethink that. If you are drudging to get up and make that walk to the mound each time it’s needed, there might come a time or two that your decision to leave a pitcher in is in some part influenced by your desire to not have to walk to the mound. Keeping Hook in that role might be better this year.
