Baseball is more than a game. We do know the people, albeit not well. Fans directly influence salaries and salaries influence win/loss. Fans influence home field advantages. We all play a role in this team, just so ya know. That's a nice notion, but no, not really. You argue like this on your Monopoly and Scrabble sites too, I suppose. -

Odds are we win 2 of 3 and the Cards win 3 of 4, right? That would do it. The ballpark should be pretty full this weekend, as well. The pent up energy should help.

Putting him down in the order is the obvious next step, right? I mean, we are at the emperor has no clothes level now. If he does play regularly because of years 2018 and 2019, why add to his pressure and put him as a main cog expected to produce at 2 or 3. Drop him to 6 or 7 for now. If he gets going put him back.

What are the chances the Brewers defeat the Cardinals to win the division but the Cardinals clinch the wild card in the same game because someone else lost? Can both teams celebrate after the game? 15%? We probably clinch this weekend. They probably clinch against us, though, next week.

Glad we got CC in the dugout, especially going thru this mini rut. Great coaches/managers use these downtimes to their advantage in speeches and team molding moments.

If we haven’t clinched by Sunday, but the magic # is at just 1…a little. If the magic # is 2 or 3 on Sunday, yes.

With the big celebration on Sunday at AMFam with Uecker and Braun, it seems fitting to clinch the division then too.

The 7-4-3-2-1 scoring system could favor Burnes, though. He has separated himself enough with Ks, BBs, HRs, etc. that those favoring pitching analytics would make him a clear #1, thus more 7s. Those that have a more combined view with ERA, IP, and even Ws might split votes among other top guys, giving Burnes a shot…. who knows.

The innings pitched is probably going to get Burnes in the end. If he is throwing 200 innings with similar stats, I think that would put him over the hill. Also, I side more often with overall results than analytic stats in season end awards. More Ks and less walks/hits is more dominant for sure. Yet… I easily favor a SP who pitches 8 innings, 7 hits, 1 ER, and 3 Ks OVER a guy who goes 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 ER, and 12Ks and more weak contact. The 2 extra innings and 1 extra run are a big difference between not using your pen and getting a team win. The first guy was less dominant and probably got by with more “luck”, but he pitched better. That being said, I would probably want the second guy pitching the future Game 1 of my playoff series…. because of the dominance. Fair or not, I side more often than not with the better ERA and IP for end of season awards.
