  1. I'm sticking by my March prediction... 79-83
  2. Brian, Is it safe to assume that the club is still in negotiations with the younger Weeks and that we just hadn't heard anything either way? I think it would be very, very wise to bridge whatever gap is remaining and treat him like a higher round pick.
  3. I'm sorry if this is dense...but did Jemile sign or was this sarcastic? I was suprised his pop didn't mention anything about it during his half inning of Friday. THanks for the clarification.
  4. in order to be consistent with the past fortunes of HS RHP's in the organization. Milwaukee has decided that ROgers will be on the following schedule. 2005: A-13--16 outings, no more than 50 innings pitched. 2006: (20) A+ 15-20 outings no more than 55 innings pitched 2007: (21) A+ 18-22 outings no more than 60 innings pitched 2008: (22) AA 15-18 outings (needs to be scaled back, as he is from Maine and he is used to pitching in cold climates 6 years ago) no more than 28 innings. 2009: (23) AA he is only to pitch when the tempature is in the high 80's with a barometric reading favorable to not getting hurt. Maybe he'll finally crack that 60 inning barrier? 2009: (24) AA they freak out as the tempature reaches a Maine like 60 in May while playing for Huntsville--he is immediately sent to the Brewers complex in Maryvale. He will be resting for 3 months as he recovers from having his arm in cold, damp weather. 2010: (25) AAA finally his big break! He is now a starting pitcher who is averaging 1.1 innings per start. He threw a personal high 4.1 innings in a July start, weather forced them to scale back. Actually faced one Omaha batter to the tune of an 0-2 count and was pulled when management got nervous about the brat cannon. 2011: (26) Management checks into the Pat Nixon center as they have become totally neurotic. New management comes in and allows Rogers to unleash his arm to the tune of 190 innings...he does very well at AAA and figures in the Brewers plans in 012--when he is a ripe old 27.
  5. Does anyone have the link to the prospect bios on MLB.com? I got one on Braun, and I have now spent about 30 minutes trying to get back to that page? Their site is so poorly designed, it is really an embarrasment . Thanks
  6. MLB.com on Braun &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 5. Brewers: Ryan Braun, 3b, U. of Miami Braun has a hitch in his swing and a high, unconventional finish, but his hands are quick enough to make it work, and he?s athletic enough to repeat his stroke and drive pitches to all parts of the field. His future position will be the main source of concern for pro teams. He came to college as a shortstop and now plays third, but he has struggled with errors at both spots. Some scouts doubt his infield actions and footwork and say he'll have to move to an outfield corner, where his plus arm and speed could allow him to be an above-average defender in time. Sounds a bit too much like a right handed Jenkins. Does anyone have a link to the drafttracker you were mentioning? Maybe I'm an idiot (nevermind I am!) but I can't find it on MLB.com? Thanks
  7. No, being from Latin America Hernan needs to get acclimated to the weather of SW USA before he can move on...? He needs to be hitting .600 before a move will be made, this will prove he's adapted.
  8. is it just me or does Josh Barfield have 13 of his 15 homers against the Stars in the last month...?
  9. Actually the Brewers have scheduled a news conference for May 3rd of next year to annuonce that Mark Roger's right arm has been gnawed off by a mutated lobster. The Brewers decided to keep Rogers on a very strict pitch count preserving that excellent arm, they did so keeping him under 65 innings for the summer. He went home and on the day before he is to leave for Ogden he was at the dock saying bye to the other lobsterman when a forty foot lobster jumped onto the dock and severed his right arm. Tis a shame, but I wouldn't be shocked given our recent history.
  10. he won't be wearing blue/gold or red/white next year...I believe he'll back at Madison Memorial and is eligible for college the year after (2005). He's going to Marquette, the news has leaked.
  11. That Crew lineup looks like it's good for 3 hits and 0 runs. I'll say it advance, the praise for Kerry Wood by the Brewers will be so effusive it'll be sickening. Yost: "Wood was just extraordinary today, we had some great swings out there." Helms: "I wasn't playing, but I know I wouldn't have done anything". Jenks: "Man that guy was a surgeon painting the corners". Overbay: Nothing he's the only guy with a frigging clue. Moeller: "Nasty stuff, nasty" Cap will likely keep it close. Cubs 3 Brewers -2.
  12. Grieve is an awful right fielder (defensively)...his hands are pathetic, that should not have been a double.
  13. Anyone who listened to his interview with Rogers would likely concur, what an impressive young man. In some respects it is easy to see why this selection was made. He said all the right things at 18 years of age...interesting kid. He sounded like a quick sign.
  14. at what point is it "ok" to be worried and/or alarmed about Weeks and Fielder? 150 AB's, mid June, late June? 2006...let us know. Anyone who had these expectations for Weeks (from the poll) and voted yes was flat out lying.
  15. but this team has had a lineup of top prospects all year... Weeks, Gwynn, Fielder, Nelson, Belcher, Johnson are considered upper level prospects and Weeks and Fielder are considered extraordinary top 10 type prospects with Nelson not far behind. This lineup should be better than it is. I agree that near the bottom 3rd and SS are unsettled and Johnson is woefully inconsistent. But the the bottom line is that you shouldn't really be able to pitch around the entire top 5-6 in the order and Weeks and Fielder who are both struggling deserve a lions share of the blame for the offensive woes of Huntsville. Both are exceptional talents, but I don't feel that up til this point (5/30) neither has come anywhere close to fulfilling their expectations for 2004. If our #1 and #3 prospects (BA's 5 and 10 in all of minors) aren't enough to jump start the top of the order, I think it is far-fetched to suggest that another bat in the system is going to help when those guys aren't hitting. Enrique Cruz has been a major disapointment for Huntsville, but given their respective ceilings...Fielder and Weeks have as well.
  16. His command was non existent, he was obviously anxious and nervous. For falling behind 2-0 on what seemed like every hitter and probably throwing 90 pitches and only 45? for strikes he still relinquished but 3 runs (4 if the guy at second scores). His ball has some life to it and that curve looks like it could be nasty. Let's hope next time out he is a bit more relaxed.
  17. A few more years? How about 8 or so, given the fact that Krynzel has shown zero plate discipline in the second half (could that be contributing to the Huntsville offense's offensive performance?) and seems to have not gotten a hit since mid June.
  18. Apparently Hall is so inept that he can't even strike out.
  19. That was highly questionable, but it was not as dumb as "good morning Mr. Encarnacion, good afternoon Mr. Cabrera, and good night Mr. Banks". Darron Sutton is just a disgrace. He is trying to be Vasgergian. He should go watch Good Morning Vietnam and realize as Bruno Kirby did...not everyone is funny, so don't try.
  20. Will Opdyke begin at Arizona? Or will he go to Helena and Palamisano moves up? They have a logjam of young backstops.
  21. To imply or rehash someone else's inference that the most prolific hitter (avg. wise/obp?) in college baseball history is somehow raw is naive. It goes without saying that everyone not named Bonds or Pujols is somewhat "raw". But the implication has been made that for a third year collegian and top draft pick he is somehow more raw than his peers. What does he need to do hit .700 with an obp of 890?
  22. How is a three year veteran, a golden spikes/howser winner, a guy who hit over 470 twice a little rawer than other collegians? His batting average was the highest in the history of DI baseball yet he is raw? What does that make Mark Texiera, JD Drew, etc...were they even rawer (is that a word?) Defensively he seems a bit of a neophyte, but his defense won't get him to the bigs, it is his stick and that isn't raw. I don't care what league he played in his numbers are sick.
  23. www.google.com/search?hl=...+opdyke%22 some impressive search results...
  24. WOW www.perfectgame.org/updat...pageid=270 Sounds like one heck of a bat? Maybe a corner infield prospect as well?
  25. dbuck.homeip.net/CABA01/S...eam19.html good numbers here. This shows him as a shortstop.
