  1. Why do you think he would have a lower price?
  2. The Brewers haven't signed anyone that would block Dubon when he is ready.
  3. If that's all it took, he would have been signed months ago.
  4. Agents should send their complaints to Yu Darvish. Once he signs, there will likely be a flurry of activity. When a good player is mulling between 9 figure contracts but won't sign, I have no reason to believe there is collusion. There are also quite a few reports that offers have been made to many other free agents as well.
  5. Trade Santana for as much talent as you can. All of us likely would prefer a major league ready good starting pitcher but I would rather have the most talent possible. Use money to sign a starter or two if needed.
  6. I'd be on board with that.
  7. Is 1B really going to be less rigorous for Braun? Seems to me that diving after ground balls in the hole may beat up on his back and obliques more than chasing down balls in the OF. I'm not saying don't play Braun at 1B, I am just thinking he is going to need 60 games off, and that should be planned for accordingly. It will be a lot less running for him.
  8. Half of their posts have "horsefeathers" in it. Derp.
  9. They are already assuming Harper will sign with them.... talk about delusional.
  10. I'm not Yu. Only Yu knows what Yu wants. However, landing Archer would help. That sounds a lot like Greinke deciding to come here when we landed Marcum.
  11. Sign Darvish and empty the farm to get Stroman. That is a team that could contend.
  12. Or Stearns is balking at the increased demands of the Rays and will just sign a starter.
  13. Why not drive up the price for the Cubs? Go up another $5M per season and play a game of chicken with the cubs. Ultimately they need him more than money they have and we can keep bidding, but they will raise. Heck offer him $32M per year for 4 years with a vesting 5th year based on performance. I bet the cubs would just stick up there paddle and yell "33M per year for 5 years"... Pretty easy to suggest when it isn't your money.
  14. I think I would prefer to trade Santana for prospects if we sign Darvish. Then use those prospects/cash saved to upgrade mid-season when we find out where the weaknesses are.
  15. No, this is somewhat what I've been debating the whole time. I'd prefer to sign one via free agency and ship Santana off for a more "even" deal or maybe even prospects. I tend to agree with this but this leaves the Brewers with the 4 starting OF conundrum and likely signing Arrieta as your TOR pitcher as Darvish is waiting for the Dodgers. Perhaps the Brewers look at dealing Santana for Salazar AND signing Arrieta. Arietta Anderson Salazar Davies Woodruff/Chacin Nelson and Salazar under contract through 2020 season. Anderson and Davies through 2021. With Woodruff, Burnes, Ortiz still coming, our $100 million SP (Arrieta) serves as insurance in the event of injury (Nelson or Salazar even) or poor performance. Not necessarily advocating for Arrieta but I am concerned about Nelson having a lost 2018 regardless of progress to date and this team is ready to win now. I think I would prefer trading for Salazar and then maybe trading Thames and a good prospect (Ortiz?) for someone like Danny Duffy. I think people are really overlooking the Arby's raises that will be happening in the coming years. I would hate to have little to no budget room to improve the team.
  16. T.R. Sullivan (Rangers beat reporter) of MLB.com saying all signs are pointing to Darvish wanting to return to Texas: It sounds like he is trying to increase the bidders as he thinks he can get more money.
  17. You are free to leave, no one is keeping you here. Bye.
  18. You aren't going to use your entire bullpen in the playoffs. You probably only need Knebel, Hader, Logan and maybe one other guy. (Chacin?)
  19. Low risk move, I like it. These are the kind of deals you get when you are patient.
  20. Ok, as much I wanted to scour the minor leagues for Broxton and Supak type guys, I didn't. I am sure the Brewers would do that however. I will happily change my fourth move (which it is curious that it is the one that is generating chatter), to a bag of balls/equivalent.
  21. Keep the prospects from our division rival and bring in Nunez or bring back Walker I prefer the defense that Harrison brings. I can't imagine he would cost a lot with all of the free agent options out there. Other teams that want a second baseman could sign either Nunez or Walker.
  22. Didn't we get Broxton for Rogers? Just sayin' Would you prefer nothing of note?
  23. 1.) Trade Santana for Salazar. 2.) Trade for Harrison to play 2B (not sure what his value is to be honest) 3.) Trade Thames and Ortiz for Duffy 4.) Release Aguilar (no one is trading for him)
  24. Why was he so cheap other than being old?
