He's cheap, a great defender that can play multiple positions and has been a very productive player 2 out of the last 3 seasons. Oh and you have three years of control. Why wouldn't his return be high?

I would be fine with trading Ortiz. The return should be pretty high though

Contreras will not be cheap and only has one year of control left. Guys like that don't bring in monster returns anymore. Getting the 2nd and 3rd ranked prospects from the Yankees isn't a bad return especially with you underrating Lagrange. Gasser isn't guaranteed a spot in our rotation. If you want to go off of his playoff small sample, his FIP was much higher than his era. If Romero would cost the same as Schrieber using the rules of this (I'm sure you didn't read them), I would consider him.

Contreras isn't going to accept that contract, not even close. Romero isn't going to accept 5 million. So as long as we sign guys to contracts they won't accept, we're golden! Saying to trade for someone and then not name them defeats the whole purpose of this.

We traded two good minor leaguers for Dustin May. I would like to avoid that again this year

This team has a clear need for another #2/#3 starter, preferably a veteran. Gasser isn't it and who knows what Priester will look like this year.

Bauers on a one year contract isn't going to hurt us. I am fine if he takes it or if he doesn't.

Looking at their other estimates, they are quite a bit below what other websites are predicting.

Mentioned in another thread but he was the healhiest of our top 5 outfielders last year. We will need them all

No reason to trade any of the outfielders unless someone really overpays. The healthiest out of our top 5 was Mitchell. All 5 (Chourio, Mitchell, Frelick, Lara and Lockridge) will be needed next season.

Well fwar has him at 3.0 so not much better. I just think there is a lot of recency bias going on here.

WC had under 3 bwar this season and his offensive numbers have gone down. Let that sink in before we throw a large % of our payroll to him

Extending Contreras for the money being thrown around seems like talk after a hot World Series performance. I hope the team sticks with the formula that has made them successful

Absolutely try very hard to make this happen. Offer him the OD 3rd base job if it gets him to sign.
