  1. Does Santana and Davies for Archer sound reasonable? I do not see Davies signing with us long term so it might be wise to move him.
  2. I am guessing us adding the 5th year is what put us on the map for him.
  3. Maybe a year away? He made one defensive play in A-ball and you have him possibly being the team's starting 2nd baseman at some point this season?
  4. Has there been any indication on how much Mark is willing to spend on payroll for this year? I know you won't find an exact number but it would be nice to know a potential range.
  5. What did Fangraphs have us at last year?
  6. This sounds like a ploy to get Walker to take less.
  7. Not saying I would want to do it but Thames graded out poorly defensively at 1B and either Shaw or Moose would very likely be an upgrade there.
  8. Also, I would much rather trade Thames and move Shaw/Moustakas to first base. I think the offense is a little overrated personally.
  9. It almost seems like Stearns contacted every single agent to see if their clients would consider playing in Milwaukee. If we have learned anything over the years it is that not every player wants to play for the Brewers. I am guessing some of the free agents would want quite the premium to sign with us. He is looking at who would be willing and trying to create some value with the payroll flexibility we have. I really like the idea of that.
  10. And a couple of notes on this quote: 1. Archer's salary is going up towards 10 million in coming years. 2. You might be trading 3 guys that will provide you 3-5 wins (WAR) for $600k a few years from now to acquire Archer. To acquire Arrieta, you just pay the inflated cost and give up a supplemental draft pick. Not to mention, where are you getting 10 wins? I can't find a publication that has a season any higher than 5.2 for Archer. Well he had 10 wins last year so I am guessing that is what he is referring to.
  11. Makes me think that either Bandy or Susac will be jettisoned to open the 40-man spot needed for Logan. Either that or one of the 40-man catchers is involved in a deal soon to be announced. Which one of those two is getting traded for cash?
  12. I saw this one from another fan that I thought was awful: J.T. Realmuto for Brinson, Ortiz plus 1 other good piece
  13. I looked at that post and there really wasn't anything specific. In a post farther down, they mentioned that Burnes would probably need to be in the deal. Would you do a Burnes and Santana trade for Archer? I am guessing that is probably light but seeing some other posts that includes most of our farm do not seem realistic either.
  14. Well half of the games are not at Miller Park and Cain would be a plus defender in any outfield spot. I am ready to improve the defense personally. There were way too many times that balls dropped on Santana that Cain/Brinson/Phillips easily catches.
  15. I don't remember the outrage with God Bless America at every game. Interesting... If I were in charge, I would be incredibly cautious with all of this type of stuff.
  16. Cain is playing for free? Nope.
  17. Because you would have traded Santana for a haul before signing him. I would imagine Cain in RF would give you very good defense.
  18. Has there been a study done that older free agent pitchers are riskier than older free agent hitters? That might have something to do with it.
  19. Please keep the daily updates coming.
  20. I think the lead off hitter is much more important in the National League. It seems like there are a lot of opportunities where the pitcher bunts someone into scoring position with two outs. I would put the best/2nd best hitter there.
  21. Bradford Doolittle from ESPN: Which teams do you think will be most active in free agency over the next month? Answer: Twins, Brewers and Rangers.
  22. If the players can't do better from another team, is it really a low ball offer?
  23. That trade proposal is awful for Cleveland, no way would they accept.
