  1. Safety is a sneaky good draft pick with one of their first four, actually. Insurance if whatever unfolded with Savage lingers into 2022 and/or an eventual Amos departure.
  2. I’m a fan of taking two bites at the apple. Good draft to have picks, especially on a team that may implode financially in a year or two and need cheap young talent.
  3. Much speculated, but the Packers were officially awarded 4th and 7th round comp picks today.
  4. Interesting. That is genius if the interest rate is lower than what is on the mortgage. If the mortgage rate is lower than the HELOC, I don't know if I agree. Plus it saves you the closing costs. I feel like I'm missing something here because HELOCs are (quick google) much higher than mortgages. Above 4% while my mortgage is 3% and a new mortgage would be 2.65%. Yeah, I’m not following either. Wasn’t the tax deductibility of HELOCs also eliminated by the tax reform a few years ago? Even if you got a sweet intro rate on a HELOC, you’d have to think that a deductible mortgage rate where they’re at now would beat that unless the HELOC was at a zero intro rate. Then, you’d be subjected to the floor rate unless you were constantly churning your LOC.
  5. I'm still a believer, as PMI is just wasted money even though it's tax deductible if you're still able to itemize. I haven't run any calcs to determine 'lost' market ROR on the hypothetical difference between a 5% down payment and the 20% PMI threshold, though.
  6. Exactly my opinion as well. Curtiss pitched in something crazy like 5 of 7 games after being acquired, including fresh off the plane. Zero chance to work with the catchers in advance to get them used to movement, style, etc. Add in less rest than ideal or being asked to face more RHB than they'd probably have preferred Norris to, and they were setup for initial failure, IMO.
  7. He (and Curtiss) got a raw deal by getting forced into situations they wouldn't otherwise have been forced into during the bullpen COVID issues. Now that he's being used as 'planned', the results match what I assume the FO expected.
  8. I think it was hard to fairly evaluate both the Norris and Curtiss acquisitions based on their early performances, because the COVID situation in the bullpen immediately required them to be put into situations that they weren't intended to have to throw in. We'll get to see and more fairly evaluate Curtiss next year, but I'd expect Norris's numbers to stabilize as he's now used more as he was intended.
  9. Why are we solely citing 2021 numbers?
  10. The trade was officially announced by the Brewers.
  11. This is where I'm at until he proves he can bring his numbers vs. RHB back into line.
  12. LOL No...Here's the thing guys..I look at the postseason and the Padres and Dodgers specifically and I ask myself do the Brewers legitimately have enough to compete with them in a 7 game series, without pretty much needing everything to go right. The answer to that is no. Yes, there is ALWAYS luck involved, and the Brewers aren't going to come close to the talent the Dodgers have, but what I would like to see is for them to try to eliminate the need for absolutely every single thing to have to go right. In order to do that they need more pieces. The bigger the better. You aren't going to completely eliminate the "luck" factor, but I do believe you can at least try to minimize it. Well they have been a full run better in ERA than any other team in baseball the last month, and they have arguably a better top 3 in their rotation and a better closer than either of those teams, which are widely considered important components of a playoff team. So I don't know what exactly you are seeing that the rest of us are missing in the comparison. By the way, one if not both of the Padres and Dodgers will have to win a do or die single WC game just to make it to the first round. Also, the Brewers HAVE already played the Padres seven times and won five of them, so they have already technically won a best of 7.
  13. Except Pomeranz sucked as a starter and then improved when he went to the pen. Norris sucked in the bullpen and we are...keeping him in the bullpen. Wasn't it you who yesterday chastised me for citing a partial season's stats for Berrios, now you're doing the same with Norris?
  14. His LHB/RHB splits are noteworthy. I do think if there's a valid criticism of CC's managing, it's that he doesn't always setup his lefty relievers for success. Rather than using them mainly as out-getters vs. LHB, he often wants to use them in a multi-inning role. Norris seems like a guy that should be brought in when the 'due up' is LHB/RHB/LHB, and he probably should be limited otherwise until he shows that those splits are reverting back to his more modest career splits rather than the absurd difference from 2021 thus far.
  15. His ERA inflated, per his FIP of 3.78. He's been productive in the past two seasons, but not so much this year. Likely hurt by his bad Tigers team, but also possible they see something they can tweak to make him effective again. This staff certainly has a great record of doing so with pen guys.
  16. Am I remembering correctly that the wrestler who was Isaac Yankem is Cain?
  17. Very fair to be disappointed with the ending, and in a lot of ways, the last season. Outstanding series, but the last season felt beneath the quality they did before that. The last season happened during the writers strike which is why it was shorter episode-wise as well as not as good as the other seasons. Thanks for that reminder, as that context makes a lot of sense as to why the season was shorter and clunkier.
  18. Very fair to be disappointed with the ending, and in a lot of ways, the last season. Outstanding series, but the last season felt beneath the quality they did before that.
  19. We try to watch them all each year as well. Big fan of The Father thus far, though Kaluuya was very, very good in Judas, which was enjoyable. Minari was your typical well-done Oscar-type movie that may win a bunch of awards, but I didn't think it was exceptional.
  20. And The Wire. Which means its all down hill when you're done with BCS, so slow down! Yeah, it's been easy to binge 2/3 episodes a night for the past several months for obvious reasons. Still some significant stuff on my list like Six Feet Under, possibly Oz, maybe a Deadwood re-watch so that I can watch the 'finale movie' in the context of the rest of the show (and not with years in between to try and remember what had happened!). So, still some good stuff out there. I'm also intrigued by Nat Geo's Genius series- I liked the Einstein season 1, but has anyone watched this beyond that? I started the Antonio Banderas as Picasso season 2, and it seemed far more dull than the first season....
  21. Finished Breaking Bad, watched El Camino (and liked it), now about halfway through S1 of BCS.... really, really good stuff.
  22. Going from The Wire into Breaking Bad has been pretty great. Heck, going back 6 months my binging has gone Sopranos, True Detective, The Wire, Breaking Bad. About as good of a six months of binging as you can get, IMO.
  23. Yep, it's that way. I watched season 2 in two or three sittings, all 13 episodes.
  24. Thanks, that one wasn't on my radar! I've also heard good things about Six Feet Under, but the concept seems odd. Can anyone vouch for it?
  25. So I've made it through the rest of The Wire and half of Breaking Bad (yes, I'm perpetually late to the game on shows). Big fan of Bad, and it's one of those shows (like The Wire) where it feels impossible to turn it off after only an episode or two each night. Any reason not to jump right into Better Call Saul next? Alternately, I've got a promo deal for HBO right now. Any other HBO shows beyond those I've seen (Sopranos, Deadwood, The Wire, True Detective, Boardwalk Empire) that are worth my time next?
