  1. Here's my bold, almost-certain-to-be-wrong prediction of the evening: I've had an odd feeling this morning that Love gets traded for a 2nd. Part of me thinks the Rodgers stuff is a massive smoke-screen, with basically both sides putting it out there yesterday to soften the blow of trading Love in the media's/fans' eyes. Hard for me to look at what Denver and Carolina did last night and not wonder if they're in the market for the QB that they didn't take yesterday. Denver especially... maybe the GB/Denver rumors have the wrong QB in mind. There's a ton of talent there that fits Green Bay's needs, and zero QBs left with even a 2nd round grade, and I don't know if I even like Trask in the 3rd. Anyway, just a thought for some fun. I'd be very interested in 39 or 40 if the call came.
  2. His Packer draft grade of the pick this morning is absolutely hilarious, in so much as it's as convoluted as it can possibly get. Well that was a good laugh. I won't repeat the whole thing, but the last part was classic: Furthermore, if Rodgers is traded to the Broncos, as rumored, Patrick Surtain could've been included in the deal. That's obviously speculative, but it's still something that should be considered. Yeah, the Packers should be drafting based on internet rumors... Feed the trolls and get an A grade, oh brother. Right? Applying a 'grade' based on what they COULD HAVE RECEIVED as part of a hypothetical/probably not based in reality trade to the Broncos is beyond absurd.

  4. I agree and was going to post a similar thought, but you beat me to it. See, we can agree on some things. I think many of us are in agreement on this today, especially with time to really look at what's left on the board. I think the Packers likely see what we see- that the drop off between a late 1st OT guy like Jenkins and a guy who plausibly will be there for them in the 2nd like Cosmi, Brown, or Eichenberg was far less than the drop off between Stokes and whoever was behind him on their CB board. We'll never know whether they had Stokes lumped in with Newsome and Farley in their 2nd tier of corners, or if he was the best of the rest, but I think they felt he had good value vs. what was left for them at a position of need. Regarding trading back, in looking at info on Stokes last night I saw him linked to Buffalo in numerous places. Again, we'll never know for sure, but I'm fairly confident that the Packers felt that it was possible that Buffalo would have taken him at #30 if they hadn't taken him at #29.
  5. Yeah, I just jumped down a Packer's fan's throat on Twitter(after we were talking about how bad Twitter is, so I did apologize) after he said this; He said, "The Packers have NEVER given Rodgers any help...he's made every WR'er he's played with." Then he kinda contradicted himself and said they've never had a good 2nd option when they had Nelson and now with Adams, but it is infuriating. The media seems to be fueling this narrative, and some fans with very selective memories are buying it, incorrectly. At one point, Rodgers had a WR room of Driver, Jennings, James Jones, Nelson, and Cobb. How crazy good was that? Add in Adams a bit later. Maybe we only think our WR room has lesser talent now because of how great Thompson was of stocking it with talent previously?
  6. If it does, how absolutely absurd is it that he would do to Love exactly what was done to him 13 years ago?
  7. This is so accurate. TT made massive hay drafting all-pro receivers in the 2nd/3rd round. Such a silly technicality.
  8. With a night to reflect, I really think the Packers saw a huge potential drop off in talent level at CB between 29 and their 2nd rounder, and coupled with the significant amount of OL talent that will still be there in the 2nd, they went with Stokes to ensure they got a CB that was high on their list. I do wonder if a guy like Newsome was still there along with Stokes, if they might have traded back into the early 2nd instead.
  9. I'm not even sure that takes it far enough, OSS. Reports are that Rodgers' agent has been in GB working on an extension for the past few weeks. The 'they don't want me' narrative seems really thin.
  10. My wife made me repeat myself three times last night to clarify exactly that when I told her about the pick.
  11. Also worth noting that Buffalo, who picked right behind them, had a serious CB need as well. I’m betting they took him there because they thought Buffalo would if they didn’t.
  12. The 'had a 2nd round grade' stuff means almost nothing to me. The actual difference between a late first and and early second in a deep draft like this? In a team's eyes, an extra contract year in a lot of cases. Maybe the Packers liked him enough to want the 5th-year option like they have with Jaire. Good CBs are expensive if you get it right...
  13. I'm really hoping they make King the 3rd CB, but putting him on the outside when he comes in and Stokes covering the slot. Having the boundary plays to Kings limited strengths, and that eliminates him from some of the run defense duties that he's not great at.
  14. This mock from CBS today had him one pick behind us to Buffalo, so I don't think 'quite a bit later' is accurate: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/two-round-2021-nfl-mock-draft-patriots-trade-up-for-mac-jones-broncos-cant-pass-on-justin-fields/
  15. Mocked in the 2nd in a lot of places, but I saw him projected as a possible late-1st for "CB needy teams." I think I heard 2nd-lowest completion % against last year? Anyone else catch that?

  20. Eichenberg screams Packer o-linemen that the fans hate on draft day that becomes an All-Pro. Fits the mold well as a player.
