  1. Like I said last night: Maybe our awful home record has something to do with the fact that for nearly every home game, we're losing before the Brewers even get a chance to bat. Is it too much to ask that we come up to bat in the bottom of the 1st in a tie game with the chance to get a lead for once?
  2. A few thoughts from tonight's game: Rusch needs to at least be pulled from the rotation. I find it hard to believe that no one in AAA could pitch better than Glendon is right now. After listening to Yost's press conference tonight, I'm still not sure he'll actually make the necessary move here. Many people have commented on the Brewers' poor play at home, and everyone from Powell/Uke, Daron/Bill, Yost, and some of the players have said that they have no idea why. Well, maybe it has something to do with the fact that for nearly every home game, we're losing before the Brewers even get a chance to bat. How many home games in a row now have the opponents hung a crooked number against our starter in the top of the 1st? It's tough to continually come back if you're always behind from the get go. Is it too much to ask that we come up to bat in the bottom of the 1st in a tie game with the chance to get a lead for once?
  3. The Yankees, Orioles, and Rockies have also agreed to terms with 1st rounders: Eric Duncan, Nick Markakis, and Ian Stewart, respectively. Maybe it's just me, but it really seems like more of the 1st rounders were signed at this point last year. Unless I'm missing someone, only the Cards, Dodgers, and the afforementioned teams above have signed their 1st rounders so far.
  4. We conquered Australia with Lloyd and Nillson. And we conquered Japan with Nomura. Wait, nevermind.
  5. Nothing I can put my finger on, which is reason number 818 I'd never make a good GM. But that picks worries me. I think there's always a little doubt/worrying surrounding most players (except for the Prior types). I have the same bad feeling about Young for some reason, perhaps because of his brother's mediocrity, but it's definitely unfounded since I've never even seen the guy play. Unlike the Bando years, I'm confident that the Brewers will choose who they truly feel is the best player available at #2.
  6. Dillard: 6'4'', 200 lbs. R/R, 7/19/1983 Beresford: 6'5'', 215lbs. R/R, 1/02/1983
  7. Just so you don't have to look through the other thread to find out that it's being reported by a legit source now: www.baltimoresun.com/spor...Dheadlines
  8. Argh..... Well, I'm depressed now. I'll be in the chat room for a while, if anyone else wishes to vent.
  9. I'm searching all Oriole related sites and message boards, and have found zilch. I think that this is just someone trying to scoop everyone else by just taking a shot in the dark without any real info. I will keep looking, though.....
  10. Some expect the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to take Rickie Weeks, who reportedly will visit with Rays officials on Tuesday, with the top overall pick. It seems like the media is absolutly mystified with this draft, as who the D'Rays' are expected to pick seems to change almost daily. Since they brought Young in individually, does this mean that they're not planning on having the massive pre-draft workout from previous years, or is Young just in such high demand that he won't be able to make it?
  11. Orioles executives Jim Beattie and Mike Flanagan spent much of their time yesterday with their baseball people discussing how much to offer last year's first-round draft pick Adam Loewen. Boy, the Orioles really are morons. Maybe they should spend less time 'discussing' how much to offer him and actually MAKE AN OFFER to start negotiations. At the pace they're on, by the time they actually decide what to offer, it'll be June 4th. The fact that Loewen remains unsigned when the sides were/are only 1.4 million apart is still astounding. Angelos says no more than 2.5 million, and Loewen wanted 3.9 mil. Heck, didn't we give Prince 2.5ish million to sign at a lower spot?
  12. I just am trying to gauge whether or not Loewen is good enough to pass over a big time hitter like weeks or young. The thing is that you phrased the question in kind of an odd way..... but if he is just the best of a bunch of average pitchers then get another bopper. That's the problem.... we don't know and won't know if they're a 'bunch of average pitchers' until 2-3 years from now. If your question is whether Loewen has a Prior-like ceiling, then yes, I'd say that the ceiling is there, but he's not at the level Prior was when he was drafted- yet. Is he a can't miss-ace? Who knows whether a guy is truly can't miss or not.
  13. With the draft approaching, I was thinking that we could do a competition predicting the Brewers' top 5 or 10 selections. Top 5 might be a bit much, and 10 is darn near impossible, but top 3 might work.
  14. Unfortunately, it looks like the Pads may have the inside track. The Brewers are bad, but San Diego is absolutely horrific.
  15. Adams had a 3.23 ERA in 83 games (13 starts) in his pro career prior to this season. Really can't complain about the deal at all, then. We got a decent pitching prospect for claiming a mental case.... not a bad deal. And yes, we now have Corey Hart and Brian Adams in Huntsville. I think I saw Hart open for Adams at the Boston Garden in 1985 -- rockin' show. That's moderately creepy. Huntsville is becoming an 80's wuss-rock revival stop. LMAO!
