  1. "Hardy's so hot we could just throw a couple of Bratwurst on him." -Bob Uecker 7/6/08
  2. Has Hardy been hanging out in the Sun or what?
  3. I voted for Gary Hart. Boy do I feel old... http://www.granitegrok.com/pix/Donna_Rice_and_Gary_Hart.jpg
  4. Just like all players are inconsistent. This uber-hot streak proves only that Hardy CAN get uber-hot at the Major League level - something I doubt Escobar can do right now. Anyway, didn't everybody say that when Hardy was a prospect, he had MLB ready defense but his bat may take a little longer? Well, it looks like his bat has fully come around to complement his great defense. And some people want to dump him for another no-hit defensive SS? Wow. endaround- if you take two players with identical lines BA .290 OPS .850, one of whom got there by non-flashy hitting - a double here, a single there, a little every day, and the other guy who got there by sucking for a while and then getting uber-hot with a bunch of homers, which one is the better player? Why?
  5. I still think his best season is ahead of him. I think Hardy is settled into the league and comfortable on the team and ready to play. Will he always be this hot? No. Is he a lousy SS? No. He's solid. Above average. The guy can play. Is Escobar really going to be better next year? Cheaper, yes, but better?
  6. I think defensive stats are hard to quantify. When I see Hardy, I see a really capable SS. He rarely flubs the plays that a few other players tend to flub. But I'm not quoting stats to prove it. I don't know. I feel comfortable with Hardy at SS. I think the thing with Hardy is that when he's healthy, he's as good as anybody. Is he the single best SS in baseball? Probably not. Hardy started off cold, but then he was coming off a brutal virus-like mystery illness he caught the last week of Spring Training. Then, his shoulder was hurting him for a while, all while batting 7th in front of the pitcher during Ned's lineup tinkering phase. Finally, he's healthy, locked in at the 2-spot where he did so well last year, and look at him go... I think Hardy is a very good player, a team-guy who the Brewers should keep around.
  7. Trading Hardy would be a disaster. There is no player proven to be able to come in and replace what Hardy brings at the Major League level. For the season: Hardy 270AB OPS .813 Fielder 319AB OPS .818 Hart 324AB OPS .852 Braun 340AB OPS .849 Hall 241AB OPS .668 Weeks 269AB OPS .688 Cameron 189AB OPS .787 And Hardy plays great D with an absolute gun of an arm. I think the Brewers should sign him not trade him!
  8. JJ Hardy singlehandedly saved the lives of my entire pet hamster collection!
  9. Yeah, I saw him hanging out in a threesome with Dolly Madison and Mata Hari. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Yeah, I saw him hanging out in a threesome with Dolly Madison and Mata Hari. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. I figured someone would start a Hardy thread. I think the thing with Hardy is that he can get really hot at the plate and can play solid D with his gun of an arm. And I think his career year is still ahead of him. Jeter's and Tejada's are likely in the rearview mirror. The Brewers should lock him up - I think Hardy wants to be a Brewer. But I have a weird feeling the Brewers will trade Hardy disastrously. Call it a bad dream...
  12. Link here: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3466390 Gag me with a spoon, like, you know?
  13. Is that the royal we, or is it TwoLiveBrew now?
  14. I'd say that Kendall alone has been worth the offseason FA moves made by Melvin. Add in Gabe K and the Manyan, and FA isn't looking so bad. Torres is worth every penny. Mota is worth having just so we don't have Estrada anymore. Cameron is the best CF we've had in a long time. Riske can be a good pitcher. I guess the real complaints (no surprise) focus on Gagne. Gagne is probably the highest profile FA signing that may have taken place under Attanasio/Melvin (other than Soup). And Gagne isn't signed for nearly as long as Soup, and that looks to be the right decision. So I don't see it. Frankly, given the freaky nature of the Free Agency market, I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of the quantity of FAs we have this year.
  15. I was there for that game. Baltimore will NEVER forgive Cito Gaston.
  16. Hi all- I was having this discussion the other day with a friend of mine from the twin cities. I told him my theory - that one of the two cities is the evil twin. Specifically, St. Paul. (I know it has 'Saint' in its name - what a perfect cover.) I had a seriously traumatic experience in St.Paul, which was then upstaged by a spiritually amazing experience in Minneapolis. It is a really long story, but without going into it, I was wondering what you all thought of this. Has anybody experienced anything similar? Does anyone agree that St.Paul is the evil twin?
  17. The real pleasure is obviously Crocs with socks! Just ask W! http://www.portfolio.com/images/feeds/blogs/bushcrocs-large.jpg
  18. I thought that's what this thread was all about.
  19. Looking for something that is free and unique? Read THE MONEY AND THE POWER before you go. (It will only cost you one penny.) http://www.amazon.com/Money-Power-Making-Vegas-America/dp/037540130X/ref=ed_oe_h Then, wander Vegas knowing what you know. You'll be morally incapable of spending another cent!
  20. Croc knock offs don't use the same patented material. So they won't feel the same. Crocs are ugly. They are. But they are, simply put, the most comfortable, lightweight, easy to take on and off shoes I've ever worn. So a bunch of manly-men don't like the way they look, and would be mortified to be caught dead in them. However, these same guys will happily walk around in something that looks like this: http://x9d.xanga.com/cdab40516323534675987/z23981230.jpg Somehow, old, ugly tennis shoes are socially acceptable, and Crocs are not. Honestly, men, unless you look like this: http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/51057856.jpg?v=1&c=ViewImages&k=2&d=03FC8F4A2C60278158EC03F02F49812E284831B75F48EF45 you are dressed like a modern slob, and history will be less kind to you than you think, Crocs or no Crocs.
  21. Thanks for the softening tone, guys! And, by the way, I agree with those of you who think Crocs are ugly. They are hideous. It's true. I mean look: http://earthskyknitter.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/crocs.jpg But then, I personally think tennis shoes are really really ugly: http://www.uncrate.com/men/images/air-jordan-xxi.jpg http://www.shoes.com/productimages/shoes_iaec1006388.jpg Face it. Shoes, in general, are really ugly: http://www.bestbuymenswear.com/ekmps/shops/bestbuymenswear/images/gucci-dress-shoes024_01%5Bekm%5D387x300%5Bekm%5D.jpg At least Crocs are comfortable. And lightweight.
  22. Because flip-flops suck compared to Crocs. And I hate hospitals so I will never wear scrubs. Why are you all so narrow minded about Crocs?
  23. I suppose you never wear a baseball cap out and about, huh? http://www.boingboing.net/200801091404.jpg
  24. Yes. Men not only can wear Crocs, they SHOULD wear them. It should be required wearing just once for all you Croc haters out there! I blew out my knee and had to have surgery. After that, every shoe I wore exacerbated the knee problem. Crocs? Helped me walk again! Geez you guys are a bunch of Croc-o-phobes. Must be something Freudian!
