  1. Prince had one of those wry looks on his face after striking out because the pitch he got called out on was 2 inches inside of the one that was called the ball. Hart needed a 40 inch bat to hit that last pitch.
  2. July 3, 2006 was the last time a lefty went yard against Shouse. If he keeps Votto in the park, it's a good move. Oops.. Suppan's lost 2 W's because of cheap HR's, Patterson's into the picnic area and Votto's pop fly today.
  3. Santana tends to get in touch with his inner Catfish Hunter every once in a while, meaning he's a control pitcher that will get one fat occasionally. Brewers have jumped all over a couple that fit that description.
  4. Sheets had to get 5 outs that inning with the error and the blown call by Cuzzi. BTW, Ozzie, it's not a vendetta, Cuzzi's just that bad.
  5. Prince gets decked, that was a little high....
  6. It's a race now, boys.... Sheets has been money all year, need one from him tomorrow. This was a "stuff happens" game, Brewers didn't hit the ball hard all day, Mench's HR was the only hard hit ball in the first and it was an oppo job, which means he was fooled a little bit.
  7. I know he's throwing strikes, but Estrada and Francisco may want to mix in a ball or 2 in there.
  8. Ibanez with a bases-clearing double for Seattle, 4-3 Mariners, 4 runs on 1 hit so far this inning for Seattle
  9. Figured it was a great play if was in RC and Infante didn't go to 3rd, because he was playing it not to be caught and was halfway.
  10. Detroit just giving the Brewers runs without having to swing the bat (Thank mericiful God)
  11. Graffy killed that ball, couldn't have been foul by more than a foot to end up in that spot tailing away...
  12. Quick summary: I don't think CV is on the block, I'm saying that he is likely the first guy opposing GM's ask about (assuming Yo is untouchable) If the mlb.com pitch tracker is accurate, Hall owned the outside corner on the HR at bat, taking multiple pitches just off the plate and fouling off pitches just in the zone. The Brewers are guaranteed to come home from this road trip in first. After Sunday, the Brewers will have played 69 games, 35 of them against teams within 1 game of .500 or better, 22 on the road. After Sunday, the Brewers will have 93 games left, 24 of them against teams within 1 game of .500 or better and only 7 of them on the road. To say the schedule opens up from here is an understatement. Now they have to execute, but the chance to turn it around is there.
  13. Today on WSSP, Melvin said even more of a priority than the bullpen was finding a bat to help this offense. What position would he be looking to upgrade? You'd have to think he'd be looking at a better player than a David Bell/ Tony Graffanino-type pickup.>>> WIth some of the chips Melvin has (how many calls is he getting tonight about Carlos..), they could be in a position to make a big splash trade (Beane has a term for it that I won't use on a family message boardhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ) If Weeks is out for a while, an infield bat is a priority, otherwise a power bench bat not named Mench.
  14. Will Spurling provide us with Coco-in-Texas type meltdown here>>> I hope not, but these innings have had a way of turning into 6 and 7 spots over the last month.
  15. Granderson's on deck (a lefty), Yost is playing Neifi to bunt, and maybe he's figuring the side-armer may be harder to bunt. Balk just kills that strategy, though. Brewers could use at least one more lefty in the pen and maybe two, if you decide Shouse is washed up, and that really appears to be the case. Balk, sacrifice, single is not getting the job done for a situational pitcher.
  16. Sometimes the dice are just plain cold. If they don't run Hart, Hardy probably hits a hard 2-hopper to SS for another DP.
  17. If they can get 5 out of Carlos and 2 out of Vargas and still be in the game after 7, that feels like a good evening in terms of avoiding severe bullpen damage.
  18. It was obvious Verlander had killer stuff tonight, whether he throws a no-hitter or 2-hitter is somewhat immaterial. He beats pretty much everybody tonight. Makes Sunday's come from behind job real big and becomes a footnote if they can win tomorrow.
  19. What's stranger, Lofton throwing a runner out at the plate or Counsell getting IW'ed not batting in front of the pitcher.
  20. If Coco's perfect outside of Arlington and a donut in Arlington, I can live with that. Though why was that 0-2 pitch anywhere where Byrd could hit it....
  21. There we go Johnny! My goodness, when I saw Wilson coming in to face Fielder I pretty much wrote the inning off... but Prince came through and now look what happened.>>> I don't write off Prince against any LOOGY, he's just too good of a hitter. BTW, a mid-batter pitching change???
  22. Any later than the 6th and you need to PH Jenkins, but Wilson's the only lefty in the Texas BP and that spot will come up again. Johnny with the clutch hit.
  23. Hard to generate much when you can't start until 2 outs.
  24. This inning is on Ned and Ned only. Either you have T-Bow start the inning even though it's not a save situation, or give Carlos more leash than one batter. You could just see the rhythm come out of T-Bow when it became apparent he wasn't starting the 8th. Coco with the bailout.
