  1. I thought the Sheets start last Tuesday was a good "ace" start. You can't get credit for negative runs in an inning, so the 3 in the first are there regardless, but you can buckle down and keep your team in the game after that even with your "B" game, and he did that giving his tean a chance to come back and win, even against a future HOF'er like Smoltz.
  2. Save rule or not, that's the exact time to bring in the closer. Want to give him margin of error in case he throws the first pitch or two fat and gets taken out.
  3. Well, leadoff is Corey's for the next 15 days, Weeks was just DL'ed.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  4. I should have said if the game stays tied and the pitcher's spot doesn't come up Carlos stays in. Letting Hardy hit with first base open in a game situation is as serious of a managerial error as I've seen all year. As far as the "where would they be without JJ and Prince" question, if a frog had wings, it wouldn't hit his butt on the ground every time.
  5. Why do you pitch to Hardy there with 1st base open and the pitcher's spot on deck. That way you ensure Carlos is out of the game (had Hardy made out, I'm sure Carlos pitches the 9th) and you likely get a weaker hitter than Hardy. Hart bunting in that spot isn't a terrible idea, if he steals 2nd in the first two pitches (something he's capable of). Having said that, I like the double better.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. You can't PR for Prince there, but speed on 2nd likely makes 3rd on that fly ball.
  7. Is there anything more frightening than a blooper that both fielders can just barely get to (i.e. it's close enough where they don't call it)http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif Good thing it was just a glancing knee to knee. Jenkins got the worse of a knee to knee with Hardy on a blooper.
  8. Moot point now, but they double-switched Braun out so Coco likely would have pitched a 10th. One impact of 11 pitchers, if T-Bow or Coco ties up a game, they'll likely have to go the next inning. When you carry 12 pitches, it doesn't make sense to double switch in most cases as you'll run out of hitters before pitchers, with 11 it's a different story.
  9. Hit Estrada 8th and he'll get walked, even if he doesn't change his approach. I see it as something that would take care of itself in a positive way.
  10. interesting to see Braun leading off. I guess theoretically if he can have a decent OBP, the Brewers could have him leadoff while adjusting to big league pitching, allowing Weeks to slide down a bit (or perhaps hit second). It would allow Weeks to--at least theoretically--swing for the fences more, and Braun to just focus on working the count and making contact.>>> Or it could be trying to give him as many PA's as possible the next few days as they want to test the wrist out and he's very close to a call up (maybe just a matter of days)
  11. I can't even describe how far Fielder hit that thing. On MLB GameDay the red dot was well past the fence so I figured it was lit.
  12. Torii, don't you know you're not supposed to swing at the first pitch with a pitcher that just walked the bases loaded.
  13. Sheets must feel really strong if they let him hit, you don't have him hit to face 1 or 2 batters next inning.
  14. Walk Graffy to force Yost's hand. Have to PH here. Well, T-bow will have a working margin.
  15. Fabio pitching for Philly, how many people expect him to have mid-back blond hair.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Nice walk to start by Prince. I like Sheets on a very short leash in the 8th. Shouse may end up being useful yet as well. Estarda "in-play runs" yes...
  16. OK, 25-15 and up anywhere from 4.5 to 5.5 at the quarter mark ain't bad. BTW, Cordero has to pitch the 8th tonight to stay sharp, right.....
  17. Fought their way back for that... Ugh... and I was one batter away from thinking Turnbow was back on track, now I'll be nervous for the next few weeks with him,,,
  18. Is there a better feeling than being down one and seeing for first pitch on the leadoff hitter "in play (runs)".http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Yost double switched, and Wise isn't a consecutive day pitcher anyway, so I'm assuming he starts the 7th.
  20. It may blow up, but good call getting Bush out before his bad inning. And is that the first double switch by Ned this year??
  21. If Perez is back to '04 form, the Mets are tough....
  22. Pretty much ensures that there is no reason to call Braun up before they're sure he won't be an arb "Super 2" (around June 1st). If he's been out for a length of time like this, they'd probably like to see 10 healthy days from him before a call up and then it's almost to that point on starting the arbitration clock anyway.
  23. Fielder with a nice job of drawing the interference call once he realized he lost a bead on the ball.
  24. The "tying run on deck" rule for a save makes sense. That's where a manager would likely upgrade his reliever anyway, give him a little margin to work with, in case he grooves one.
