  1. Counsell hit his more on the screws than Edmonds, but edge of the track is about as far as it can go with Craig anymore. BTW, what's gotten into Kendall.
  2. Prince is piping hot right now. Had he delivered Saturday, he'd be flirting with Yaz in '67 type hot.
  3. Kouzmanoff must have worse speed than JJ to get pinch-run for there. That last called strike was 4 inches lower than the ball four two batters ago.
  4. Counsell's just glad Sheets didn't pull that one.
  5. Any time Hart wants to take the proper angle on a gapper, he's welcome to do it.
  6. Wow, very close to a "first guess" by Schroeder. I think he wants Shouse in there.
  7. I feel empathy with Houston's backup catcher right now, that was a clean shot.
  8. To be brutally honest, the Brewers aren't playing nearly enough right now to make Ned regret double-switching Hart out of the game. Right now he gets to see it as saving his bullpen by only using Shouse and Dillard. BTW, nice debut for Dillard
  9. Hardy has to make that play, but the pitches sure did get fat after that error. Ugly, ugly, ugly. Really need 3 in DC and this makes it very tough.
  10. Maybe it's TH's way of saying Yost is in serious trouble (though a firing may not be immiment) without burning the source in management that has told him that
  11. That's better by Soup. Interesting that on TV they were saying that Francona was working under the assumption in terms of pacing players and the like that the night cap would start nowhere near 8:35 EDT. Wonder what their "gap" time is.
  12. Ortiz's HR is a mid-warning track flyout in Milwaukee, and we have short alleys. It's the same for both teams, but that wasn't crushed. Soup has to eat 6 in this game. BTW, they're moving this one right along (not waiting to get out of commercial) becasue they have to clear and re-fill the stadium between games and if this one goes 3:30 plus, it's going to be tight.
  13. Mota gets the lefty then blows up, yuck...
  14. Cards 2nd best player, IMHO, just earned himself a couple of days off. I figured he got run to get himself some bench time in a blowout, but his equipment removal will cost him a few days.
  15. Then again, the Brewers are hitting so many 2 hop grounders to middle-infielders that you can pass on the first DP opportunity. This just isn't any fun right now.
  16. You're assuming they'll take the cinch DP there and clear the bases. Worst thing is not run and let them get the DP without scoring Would love to see the Brewers make them pay for doing that
  17. The HR was crushed, but if things were going well, it would have been 5 more feet to the left. However, things are not going well right now.
  18. Any time one of the back 4 starters wants to get through the middle innings clean, it would be greatly appreciated.
  19. What's Hall doing in RF foul territory... With the Brewer's luck I'm just glad no one was hurt
  20. Back when the Mets and Yankees played together at Shea in the mid 70's, doubleheaders were much more common. Looking it up on baseball-reference, there were 19 double headers at Shea in 1974 and 15 in 1975. The ideal these days would be zero. That means if the Cubs played all of their games at US Cellular, they would need to block out 162 days out of a possible 179 (taking 3 out for the all-star break) Day-night DH's for make-up would be a possiblity, but having each team play on the same day would be real problematic except in an emergency. I suspect the logistics would be much easier if they played one series a month in Milwaukee (18 games), making 144 dates work at the Cell would be much easier than 162.
  21. Braun with a Ty Cobb slide into 2nd. That will get the Cubs attention...
  22. Flat out stole one tonight. Assures they'll be over .500 when Cameron comes back
  23. Turnbow warming up in the pen... This was going to be a "give-up" game tonight. about 6 bullpen guys weren't going to be used regardless and if tonight ended up 15-3, so be it, it's only one loss and Bush is likely out of the rotation anyway. However, Prince had other ideas, that and Bush was credible tonight, not great but gave them a chance.
  24. If the Brewers are sure Sheets will miss his next start, I'd guess Bush holds his spot in the rotation and Yo fills in Sheets' spot.
  25. RH hitters need to protect to the middle of the chalk in the LH batters box line, that's pretty obvious.
