  1. Nice start by Hammond. Any chances that some of these low ball guys get an emergency start if things don't pick up in Milwaukee. I was thinking maybe Gallardo for a game.
  2. Corey is going to be a good one.
  3. Does this officially put an end to Brad Nelson as a Brewer?
  4. I was just thinking about who would play shortstop if Hall turned an ankle during a game. The best part of this game is Ueker rolling his Rs in the postgame show. Priceless.
  5. Well, at least Hendrickson is still in...so we have that going for ourselves.
  6. Time to pinch hit for Hendrickson?
  7. Hendrickson's first start didn't impress me and I was worried going into today. He pitches much like Davis: nibbles and often falls behind. The biggest difference is that Davis has a cut fastball that can strike out some when he has to put the ball over the plate. When Hendrickson has to gete over the plate, he will get hit hard.
  8. That's the #1 pick with an unlimited ceiling?
  9. I think what the last inning showed is that for all the good things that have been said about JDLR, Yost still does not have the confidence to bring him in when things are tight.
  10. Taubenheim was optioned to AAA by Toronto. Is he good enough to be pitching that high in anyone's system?
  11. Didn't Breslow get some time with the Pads this year and do well? Why would they let him go?
  12. Joe Sheehan from Baseball Prospectus: Alcides Escobar: I had never heard of Escobar before last Friday. He's 18 years old, and played the entire season in the Midwest League at 18. Forget how he played: he was a full-season shortstop at 18. That's worthy of attention all by itself. In the AFL, he showed off a nice gun and little in the way of offense. Considered to have a "projectable" body, he's expected to hit for more power over the next few seasons. There are two organizations right now that are coming up on the outside, loaded with talent, with very little hype, doing a ton of things right: the Brewers and Devil Rays. I expect the Brewers to have a Twins-like run starting in 2007, maybe even 2006, and the D-Rays will not be far behind if they can become proactive about their talent distribution. Corey Hart: Mixed reviews on Hart. Some people think he's an everyday player, others want to see him used as a utility regular, starting 4-5 times a week at four positions, because they don't think he's good enough at any one spot. Me, I'd live with him at third base in a Brewers infield that looks to be league-average for a total cost of $1.5 million, and make him prove that his '05 line at Nashville was a fluke. I like it. Either way Hart is playing regularily. I really see a Hart/Cruz platoon in right.
  13. Man, I hope we can fine Hart time next year. He just hits everywhere he goes. Does anyone else think that he doesn't get enough publicity? When its all said and done, I think he is going to be the best player out of the rookie crop from last year.
  14. I just got home to see we're losing 5-0. Is Nolan Ryan pitching?
  15. Please, I'm begging, shut Capuano down for the rest of the year. He has pitched too many innings this year!
  16. Can someone help me on this one. Isn't a "strain" the same thing as a small tear?
  17. Went to the game today and watched Hart in the outfield. Before the game he was out in center working with Nelson. He played about 5 steps deeper than Griffey on every batter (for example, he would play 5 steps deeper against Encarnacion than Griffey did for Helms) Not sure if Griffey plays real shallow or Hart was playing deeper or told to play deeper. No plays to him really.
  18. Props to the guy who is pissed about Magruder on the other thread. It's about time that fans are demanding more for their $. High expectations are what we should all have and it's good to see that people are getting mad because they expect more.
  19. Why does everyone think Hart can play center? Didn't he make the move from corner infielder to corner outfielder and struggle with it? Isn't he 6'7"? Are there are any 6'7" centerfielders in the majors? Who is the tallest player to ever play CF?
  20. Has Housman shown anything this year at AAA? Haven't heard much about him.
  21. Good opportunity for Santos to step up and show that he can be relied on in the 2nd half, unlike last year. I'd like to see if the rest this winter will have any effect on the 2nd half this year.
