Not sure if the stats back this up or not, but it sure feels like Perkins has been struggling lately.

As hard as some of us (myself included) have been on Patrick today, if Vaughn makes a clean throw to 1st the first time through the order, it’s 3-3 and no one is really that upset with him.

Agreed, it is not the end of the world if we lose this one. It would be ideal to at least take 3 of 5 this week to take the tiebreaker and a huge lead, but 2 out of 5 would not be devastating.

Eh, he ran into one there, but he’s got a .343 OPS with the Cubs. Not someone I’d be keen on getting the 35 plate appearances that he’s gotten so far with the Cubs.

I’m not saying it’s over, but sometimes it’s better to pick your battles. If they don’t get some offense going in the next inning or two against Boyd, it’s probably best to have Patrick eat as much as you can and then use the back end of your pen.

This is true, and it’s a thing in the GTs of every other baseball team. And every other sports team. I get if someone says something truly ridiculous like “Frelick should be DFAed after that AB”, someone is going to call it out, but there’s been nothing of the sort.

There’s nothing of that sort in this GT, though. Saying a guy could use a day off isn’t the same as saying he should be benched.

He threw 6 innings and gave up 1 run yesterday, sir. You got emotional in 1 inning about if just like others get emotional in game threads. It’s hypocritical. I could be wrong, but I don’t think anyone actually suggested Yelich should go to AAA, unless it was as a joke. A day off, sure.

I don’t know how the weather was at 4 to know if it would have made a difference but what is the point of the split doubleheader? Why have guys sit around for 3 hours first before G2 rather than just taking 30 minutes and jumping back into it?

Totally agree with this, hated the old school approach of pigeonholing a guy to a number 8 with no other data or information needed.
