And even though I said Contreras, Turang is probably a close second for me. He’s kind of the heartbeat of the infield and probably doesn’t get appreciated as much as he should. He’s arguably the quietest 5 WAR player you’ll ever see.
It will be interesting when he starts getting deep into his arbitration years and starts getting more pricey, if the team will look to extend him or move him and eventually replace with Made or Perez.
I actually thought Seigler looked pretty good — as far as position players go I mean, obviously. Hitting the zone consistently, but not just leaving everything out over the middle of the plate on every pitch, either.
Vaughn’s cooled off in August from his insane July, but can’t be too mad at him for that one. Made good contact off a tough pitcher, just hit it to the wrong spot.
I’d probably take a shot on him in our rotation if the Pirates don’t plan to score any runs for him for his entire career. He might get some run support here.
Just curious for those who follow the minor league system closely — are you higher on Made, or Pena, and why? If both eventually make it to the bigs with the Brewers, where do you see them ending up? Pena at 2B and Made at SS?
