  1. To be fair, his hit yesterday was a timely and crucial one.
  2. 2nd time tonight staring at 3rd strikes with 2 outs and RISP. Come on, guys.
  3. Just kind of all the more surprising that they didn't pursue Walker for cheap. He's certainly not spectacular, but he's fairly safe. I think Kipnis could end up being the one we wish we had pulled the trigger on.
  4. Tired of seeing our guys just tagging the ball (Bandy, Thames), and having nothing to show for it but outs. Seems like it's happened a lot this series.
  5. Suter will always need to have impeccable command. When he doesn't, he might as well be throwing BP.
  6. B.A. needs to dig a little deeper than the contract Hosmer just got if he really thinks he is 'as good as it gets' defensively.
  7. Braun still hitless for the season, yet has 2 RBI.
  8. The super platoon they have is fine. Braun will be hard pressed to outproduce the. 918 OPS Thames put up against RHP last year.
  9. Braun and Santana showing in very different ways how meaningless spring training performances are.
  10. Haudricourt finally gets a chance to be the first to leak insider info from the Brewers and he chickens out. On something extremely minor nonetheless.
  11. I think the career ERA gets people excited, but yeah, he's basically the equivalent of the Jared Hughes pickup last year other than being LHP. Which is fine for the back end of your pen.
  12. Yeh, he was awful. 6.38 ERA after the all-star break. Had a 1.62 ERA before the break. Tale of two seasons for the guy. He was coming off missing an entire year, so it may have simply been fatigue. Who knows - but it is a red flag. St. Louis is a great spot for him as he'll get lots of save chances. Hmm, our guy also had a 1.62 ERA, but his was over a full season and we only paid 2/5.
  13. Also, they were so awful in extra inning games last year, nice to see them take a step in the right direction there.
  14. Basically everyone Stearns acquired in the off-season (Cain, Yelich, Albers, Choi) played a big part in the win.
  15. Jacob Barnes is a big positive regression candidate. Is there a word for that? "Regression" doesn't feel like the right term.
  16. Seriously, why not? Sogard can play 2nd, SS, and 3B. So can Villar. We don't need Perez for the OF at all. Seems crazy to think of keep four 1Bs when 3 of them are basically 1B only but nothing Stearns has done lately has been by the book.
  17. That's Perez. But hopefully Drake can nail down the save!
  18. Except I have said Knebel was a regression candidate long before the season even started so...... But instantly had to mention it after one outing like it was a sign of something. Just wait for Villar to start off slow for 3 games or so. The comments will come out of the woodworks on that too. Isn't when he blows a save on Opening day kind of a relevant time to mention it? Seriously, does stuff like that really bother you that much? Why? Its not like I said Knebel is a worthless bum and needs to be demoted to mop up duty. When Knebel blew the save I said I thought he was a big regression candidate. Then someone said all closers pretty much are and I said I agreed other than the true greats. Why would that sequence of dialogue bother you in any way?
  19. Jeffress did not deserve to lose on a dumb little flair and Santana overrunning it like a dooffus. Glad it didn't end like that.
  20. Except I have said Knebel was a regression candidate long before the season even started so......
  21. Last pitch from Jeffress was called a "knuckle curve" by Gameday. Does he throw such a pitch?
