  1. I don't mind having Spurling, Aquino, Stetter, and McClung up. We need pitchers to eat up innings in those blowout games. I'm just baffled that 3 out of the 4 of them saw action tonight in a game that was very close late. I figure, if we're going to go with our worst relievers in the most crucial innings, we may as well call up one that might actually pitch well for us.
  2. Why the hell is Bray still in AAA with a 1.62 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in a hitters league? Did he insult Melvin or Yost's mother? He's not better to have in the pen than all of Aquino, McClung, Stetter and Spurling? C'mon, we can have up to 40 people available for every game and for some reason, we don't have a spot for this guy? Are we really that worried about the Nashville playoffs with the actual MLB team in a pennant race? I thought this one was a no-brainer. Would anyone not feel a lot better with him in close situations over our 4 "garbage relievers"? Does anyone have any logical explanation for this whatsoever? I mean, our bullpen is blowing leads left and right (although with the assistance of some terrible BP management), and we can't find room on the roster for a 1.62 ERA reliever even when the rosters have expanded? This had better not be about Nashville's postseason. AAA playoffs shouldn't even be taken into consideration if your MLB team is in a pennant race.
  3. I cannot wait to hear Yost's garbage excuse for this. Probably something to do with his 2 hits early in the game, which *gasp* happened to come against lefties, who he can actually hit. Not righties. Jenkins....not used..Dempster up...I am stunned. Just stunned. Unreal. I guess we were probably saving Jenkins for the 16th inning. Don't want to eat up that bench.
  4. Well, George Webb again predicts the Brewers' opposition will score 5 or more runs tonight.
  5. As I stated in the game thread, player's fault or not, Yost is directly responsible for the players performances. Unless there was ever a manager that also played in the games, you could use the "players make the plays" excuse to contradict every manager firing in MLB history. We can't fire 25 players, and knowing the talent that they have, we wouldn't. The Brewers are under .500 now. That's a cold, hard fact. The manager is accountable for that. I believe the players failing to execute are mostly to blame. I'm not denying that. That doesn't change the accountability that Yost is under. That's the same for any job. If you're a manager of a department at a corporation, you might work hard and do a damn good job. If your employees don't get the job done, that still falls on you. That's the truth, and that's the way it is.
  6. So, Ned, I'd like to see another one of your interviews you where you chuckle arrogantly and proclaim something along the lines of, "The fans don't really know anything. They panic, but they don't really know how the game works. The season is a marathon, this is just a bad stretch, and the fans don't really know what they're talking about."

  8. It seemed almost inexplicable at various points of the season when we were 14 over, but this very well appears to not be the year where we will finally get a winning record.
  9. Real nice time for the Diamondbacks to start sucking. Walk, error, infield single. 3-0 Scrubs in the first.
  10. I could swear Ned checks in from time to time to see if there is any good fan advice to be had. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. My lineup prediction tonight - 1) Weeks 2) Gross 3) Prince 4) Braun 5) Jenkins 6) Hall 7) Estrada 8) Hardy 9) Bush Hernandez, like Davis, has some trouble finding the strikezone at times, so patience will be a necessity, which is why I'd like to see Weeks and Gross at the top tonight. We really need this one, since we'll have our hands full with Webb tommorow, it'd really be nice to get a series victory in Arizona tonight.
  12. I'm glad we won tonight, it's a nice change of pace. That being said, Craig Counsell should be fined $100 in kangaroo court, at the minimum, for getting struck out by JEFF CIRILLO.
  13. They could always start Parra, but they may be trying to watch his innings very closely this year, which they should. Especially coming back from injury. Really the only other option is Zach Jackson. I don't know. Does it even really matter at this point? Capuano isn't our only problem. We just stink in general right now. I'm not sure bringing up a 4.00+ ERA pitcher from AAA is going to make much of a difference. Maybe it'll take the other teams a couple games to see him and that might buy us a win or two. I don't know.
  14. Another blown 5 run lead. 16 straight losses when Capuano is starting. A 1-5 homestand. But that's okay, it's not like we've got a tough 9 game road trip coming up. Ned is as good as gone. This team may drop under .500 over the next week, and there is no, no reason a team as talented as the Brewers should be this bad.
  15. He wasn't the only culprit tonight (and granted, he was really the only one besides Gross supplying the offense), but how many more times after an error are we going to hear "A rare error by J.J. Hardy", before it's not that rare anymore?
  16. I, among many others, thought this year would "be different". I bought the hype. I oogled over the 24-10 start. Somewhere, next year, maybe in 2009, I'll mention that the Brewers have a real shot to be very good. I'll mention how much talent they have at every position. I will mention how strong their starting pitching and bullpen is, and how deep their bench is. Then someone will reply, "Come on, it's the BREWERS." And you know what? There will be absolutely nothing I can say to that. Nothing.
  17. I have to now think that the odds of Yost losing his job at the end of the season are better than 50/50. Another late-season fade. No production, a .500ish team with the talent of a playoff team, in the weakest division in baseball. Given the desire not to waste too much of this window of several years, I don't believe Yost gets another chance to turn this team around.
  18. That's how sports work. Do you really expect the fans to be riled up in a major frenzy to come see this kind of baseball and now a near .500 team?
  19. Remember after our first losing streak, when fans were panicking and getting upset, and Yost arrogantly announced that we didn't know anything, that we had never been in this position before, so we were just freaking out, and don't really know about the game of baseball, but he knew they'd get it turned around sooner or later? Still waiting on that, Ned.
  20. I'll check the Predictions thread, but I'm pretty sure the average prediction was better than 81-81 this year.
  21. Since the comeback against Hamels, our pitching is giving up nearly 9 runs a game. Is there such a thing as anti-momentum? I never, ever imagined, with as much talent as I thought our pitching staff had and as much depth we had in the minors, thought our pitching would be this abysmal this year. Never. By the way, we've now given up 10 more runs than we've scored this year.
  22. I think what aggravates me just as much is that no matter how bad we do, I can't vent without hearing someone come back with the "Everything is fine, we are in first place" approach. Not specifically saying anybody or meaning that to apply to anyone here on the board, just in general, I don't know how people can act like what is going on is acceptable!
  23. It's almost hard to even enjoy the game anymore. Seems that they're usually out of it by the 5th inning. They're getting beat down by a less talented, but smarter, veteran, better managed team that knows how to win.
  24. Is there anything more fun than watching this team right now? The only things I can think of are getting your teeth pulled, eating cockroaches, drinking paint, walking across tacks, and sitting on blocks of ice.
  25. It's amazing to see how close the Cardinals are to us with how much more healthy talent we have on our team than they do. Right now, we look like a scared, young team, in an unfamiliar position, whereas the Cardinals look like a confident, veteran team that just know what needs to be done. Amazing how that works.
