    The “hard to beat a team 3 times” thing is a total myth. Historically when two teams meet a 3rd time in the playoffs after a regular season sweep, the team that swept wins again about 65% of the time.

    Not specific to anything in this thread, but I just knew after this game that social media would be flooded with “OMG if the Packers had just kicked the FG on 4th and 2 in the 1st half they would have won 28-27!!” Not how it works.

    I think you could say that about literally any team in the NFC playoff field. I think relative to the other options, the Lions and Vikings are just fine with seeing the Packers again in the playoffs. Why would they fear a team that hasn’t shown they can beat them?

    That’s why I roll my eyes at any mention ever of “oh they’ll be back” or “they’ll be better next year”. Every opportunity missed is an opportunity lost. The loss in San Francisco was a missed opportunity last year. They could have won it, and they could have won the Super Bowl, last year’s expectations be damned. There are never any guarantees to win it all or to even be back. I don’t think anyone would have believed that Aaron Rodgers would never make it back, but he never did. The 49ers are probably the most dominant NFC team of the last decade and do not have a single Lombardi to show for it. Progress is rarely linear in this sport. You can feel as good as you want about where you’re headed but there are always 31 other teams also trying to do the same thing as you.

    Yep. We may get one more shot. If we don’t come through on shot #6, that’ll be the last chance this season.

    Think people read too much into these late comebacks. We were dominated by Minnesota for 50+ minutes of both games. Circumstantially, we made both interesting, but the playcalling and flow is just so different near the end of these games. You can’t look at it in a vacuum and say we lost 27-25 like a wire to wire 27-25 game. We were never in control of this game. It’s a good sign that a team doesn’t quit when it gets down late. That’s the positive that can be taken out of it. Still rooting for Atlanta tonight as I think an Atlanta/Rams first round game is significantly more winnable. If Atlanta wins, our loss today is probably moot. That’s the other positive.

    Actually remarkably similar to the first game. Nothing says “we’re not ready” like going 0-4 against the top two teams in your division. Woof.

    Predictable. You ever hear of a bootleg, Hafley? Did they have those in college? Because you didn’t look like you had any clue on those last two plays.

    The D won’t get a stop here. That’s kind of what they do in these situations.

    I actually think the contact with the ball was made before his arm started coming forward.

    It makes total sense. You’re going for the TD and FG to win now, not to tie. That’s why they did it. If you fail you can still try the 2 again later to play for the tie, and failing that you just need to play for 2 TDs. It showed that they have no intention of playing for OT.

    Stokes has actually been under the radar good this year, today maybe notwithstanding. My feeling about our corners is that we have a pass rush problem more than a corner problem. Coverage tends to get exposed when you can’t rush the passer.

    Such a weak holding call. Every time we get any positive play going today we lose it on some ticky tack trash.

    At least I can stop hearing about how Lafleur gets overlooked for coach of the year every year.

    I know it’s not all scheme but Hafley did a really, really poor job today.

    That is so classic Packers defense. Do something positive, potentially swing momentum, then show everybody “nothing to see here” on the following drive.

    That swing before halftime where the line judge potentially took points from us and then later gifted the Vikings 3 points looks pretty large right now now.

    Another big game in which Matt Lafleur had his team completely unprepared to play, just a trademark of his tenure. But everyone loves him because they can rout the bad teams and everyone is happy on those days.

    He has not been good, but it’s been a multitude of things as it always is in these big games. Drops, mental mistakes, bad decisions, no pass rush. The lack of pass rush is probably my biggest concern as it’s not something that one guy can just come out and fix next week.

    It’s hard for me to believe that a team that looks honestly really consistently good outside of these 5 games against the best teams just isn’t any good, but whatever they’re bringing to the table in these big games just is not cutting it.

    I almost posted in the first quarter that Hafley really has the defense playing well. I’m glad I withheld my praise.

    Last week was a “fun” game but if anyone actually read anything into it, that’s on them. It’s a stretch to even say that the Saints put out a professional football team.
