  1. Hoskins will definitely not be back. I would like a LF first baseman who is an upgrade from Bauers. Other than that maybe a pen arm. Can’t see a major splash happening unless it’s at SS. A starting pitcher is possible if we trade Peralta or don’t sign Woodruff.
  2. I laid out all the evidence in a post a few weeks ago. I think he’s an imposter.
  3. I think it’s just having a 7 run lead they’d rather burn the remaining pitches on Payamps than anyone else, which makes sense.
  4. The Brewers despite their “crappy” play are in fact 6-5 in their last 11. Do that again and I’m quite confident that those 98 wins will be sufficient.
  5. Have they been any closer than 5 games at any point recently, including their recent 6 of 7 streak? If the Brewers finish 6-5 after tonight the Cubs would need to completely run the table in their last 11 games of the season and go on a 14 game winning streak to win the division. Are you really that fearful of that scenario?
  6. I know I’m going to regret saying this in the next 15 minutes or so, but I feel like this homeplate umpire has done a really good job for the most part tonight. It’s just such a rarity that I feel I should point it out when it happens.
  7. They’re not meaningless, there’s the potential to go 2.5 up on Philly today, plus the tiebreaker, with just 11 to play. While its not essential to get the 1 it does matter. As far as the Cubs go they are hot, 6 out of 7. But as long as we win, even if we don’t gain a game on them, it’s more time that they’re running out of.
  8. I don’t understand being overly aggressive against teams that you should be able to beat without being overly aggressive. Let’s not beat ourselves, huh?
  9. The Pirates average about 0.14 runs per Skenes start seemingly, so this might be over already.
  10. Counting on Nick Chubb as your RB1 even with Nixon out is crazy. He is so washed.
  11. I’m not stressing about it at all. I have been saying for weeks that the 1 would be nice, but the difference between 2 and 3 is massive compared to 1 and 2. Bypassing the WC round is the important thing. Especially if we are still scuffling toward the end of the season to get that rest and reset. You’d like to have a potential Game 7 of the NLCS to be in Milwaukee instead of Philly, but there’s about 20 other things that have a bigger chance of deciding the series. Could draw the Mets as a 2 seed in the NLDS and I’d love another shot at them. I will say, I am not sure why you would say it’s largely assumed that the NLCS would be 1 versus 2. That’s almost NEVER the case. I don’t think it has been the case since 2018 and not once since MLB expanded to 6 playoff teams.
  12. Maybe. If there’s a series left in the season, then a 2 game lead is obviously hugely significant. With 2 weeks left, I really don’t think it amounts to much. So yes I hope we can take care of business against the Angels and perhaps the Dodgers can take 2 out of 3 against Philly because even gaining a game in the next series would be very big.
  13. I’m just not really that impressed with JJ McCarthy. I get that he’s super young and all that and probably not a finished product. I dunno. I just don’t really see what made the Vikings so confident to go with him as their Plan A this season.
  14. Well again that’s why it comes down to whether they continue to do what they’ve been doing. I think everyone understands the shrinking margin for error as the games become fewer. They’ve lost 3 games in September. If they lose 3 more that’s probably going to be good enough.
  15. They are not Juiy hot right now but they’ve won 2 out of their last 3 series and 3 out of their last 5 so saying they basically need a miracle to win a series might just be a tad on the embellishing side at the moment.
