  1. Running Lamb through Sax Baxamusa's quick-n-dirty Marcel tool, he's projected to hit .261/.324/.407 over the balance of the year.
  2. Lamb is not eligible for the postseason roster because he wasn't in the organization as of 8/31. See: Ray King last year.
  3. After Helena scored 3 in the top of the 13th, this happened: Cody Puckett walks. Alex Buchholz flies out to right fielder Erik Komatsu. Tony Brown singles on a line drive to center fielder Erik Miller. Cody Puckett to 2nd. David Sappelt singles on a line drive to right fielder Erik Komatsu. Cody Puckett scores. Tony Brown to 2nd. Brett Bartles singles on a line drive to center fielder Erik Miller. Tony Brown scores. David Sappelt to 3rd. Matt Stiffler doubles (8) on a line drive to left fielder Christopher Dennis. David Sappelt scores. Brett Bartles scores. Sigh.
  4. Weeks' 4th option year was used in 2007. Hart was optioned in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
  5. Yeah, I mentioned that in the original post. Players with 5+ years service time can decline options, so I didn't list them, though sometimes those players consent (Dontrelle Willis this year being an example).
  6. Yeah, after three years' service time, a player has to clear waivers, but they can be pulled back if they're claimed.
  7. Nelson swings onto Milwaukee Brewers team By: Greg Grabianowski, Sports Editor 09/04/2008 Brad Nelson finally got the call he has been patiently waiting for. He is going to the major leagues. The 2001 Bishop Garrigan graduate was called up by the Milwaukee Brewers team as the club expanded its roster to 40 players on Monday, Sept. 1. "It is a dream come true for me," said Nelson in an interview on Sunday night from Milwaukee. "Now, it's not just a dream, its reality. I am definitely excited and it will be a new and exciting experience for me. "It's pretty amazing. I can't really put into words. It feels great. It is something I've dreamt about since I was a little kid and now I'm finally living it." Nelson made his debut Monday in the Brewers 4-2 loss to the Mets in Milwaukee as the team started a 10-game home stand. He pinch-hit for pitcher Guillermo Mota in the ninth inning and grounded out to shortstop on the first pitch. Brad will wear No. 40 for the club. He played in front of 41,476 fans on Monday, which is seven times larger than the population of Algona. The Brewers lead the National League wild card race by 5.5 games with 25 games remaining. Nelson was a fourth round draft choice by the Brewers in 2001. He hit .286 for the Triple AAA Nashville Sounds this year with 18 home runs, 36 doubles and 78 RBI's. The left-handed player will probably be a pinch-hitter against right-hander pitchers in the month of September for the Brewers. "It will be a memorable time for me," said Nelson. "I get a chance to rejoins some of my old teammates in a pennant race and it is a great feeling. Knowing and playing with them before will make the transition a little easier. It seems like old times. I want to thank all people in Algona for their support in my journey to get this far. It really helps a lot to have good people behind you." http://images.zwire.com/local/Z/Zwire2700/zwire/images/2008/09/story/Brad-Nelson_story.gif
  8. Changed Luis Pena's status from two left to one; he was added to the 40-man in 2004 and optioned in 2005 before being outrighted and re-added last year.
  9. I've never seen that page before. I always access the 40-man on this site by going to the player index and using the 40-man filter. I definitely got Escobar wrong because I was mentally associating him with Salome and Gamel; he has two left. I'll edit the post to reflect that. Villanueva was added to the 40-man in November 2005 and optioned in 2006 and 2007. Iribarren was added at the same time and optioned in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Dillon was optioned in 2005 by the Marlins and in 2008 by the Brewers; his contract was purchased by the Brewers in August of 2007 and he wasn't optioned that year. Bush was optioned in 2005 by the Blue Jays and in 2008 by the Brewers. I realize some of those contradict what Brewerfan has, but I think I'm interpreting the rules correctly. I'm positive that I'm right about Villanueva and Iribarren.
  10. At least that means it's not Lucroy.
  11. Useful reading if you plan on using Chrome: Google Chrome: More Or Less Privacy? Google, Criticized for Harsh Chrome EULA, Backs Down
  12. Cross-posting this from BCB because it seems like a useful list to propagate. Please correct me if I've made any errors, which is very likely when putting something like this together. Out of options: Tony Gwynn Hernan Iribarren Corey Hart Seth McClung Brad Nelson Laynce Nix Mike Rivera Rickie Weeks One option: Dave Bush Joe Dillon Manny Parra Luis Pena Vinny Rottino Carlos Villanueva Two options: Mark DiFelice Tim Dillard Alcides Escobar Prince Fielder Lou Palmisano Mitch Stetter Three options: Ryan Braun Yovani Gallardo Mat Gamel J.J. Hardy Angel Salome I didn't include anyone with 5+ years service time, because those players can refuse options, though some (like Chris Capuano) have one or more left.
  13. Helena finally wins in the 13th. Cutter Dykstra ended up getting on base 6 out of 7 times, while Chris Dennis and David Fonseca had brutal nights, each going 0-6 with 4 strikeouts (Dennis did walk once).
  14. Monster game for Cutter Dykstra thus far: 3-3 with a double and 2 walks.
  15. Project Prospect with scouting reports on their top 7 pitchers from the AFLAC All-American Game (they're not crazy, Purke is #1)
  16. This has to feel sweet for the Albertosaurus after his brutal first game yesterday: # John Delaney walks. # Cutter Dykstra walks. John Delaney to 2nd. # Erik Komatsu walks. John Delaney to 3rd. Cutter Dykstra to 2nd. # Brock Kjeldgaard doubles (27) on a line drive to right fielder Byron Wiley. John Delaney scores. Cutter Dykstra scores. Erik Komatsu scores.
  17. Okay, Nelson's is fixed. By the way, is the Escobar one working for everyone? One of our readers said it was all choppy, but it plays fine for me.
  18. Haha, yeah, sorry about the Nelson one. I'm redoing it and will edit the link when it's done.
  19. Mat Gamel Alcides Escobar Angel Salome Brad Nelson EDIT: Fixed Nelson video so you don't have to watch me check my email during it.
  20. Rough night for R.J. Seidel on his birthday.
  21. Mike Ramlow was 14th among all MiLB relievers in lowest BAA, at .178; Omar Aguilar was 13th at .177.
  22. He now has a Major League pension for the rest of his life, so I doubt he's too upset.
  23. As other people have said, the extensions will keep me with Firefox, but damn, Chrome is faaaaast.
  24. Farris actually hit .293, but showed very little in the way of secondary skills, with an OBP/SLG of .332/.377. For comparison, Hernan Iribarren hit .277/.329/.341, which was widely received as very disappointing, and which did not earn him a September call-up--and that's three levels above Farris. Overall, Farris' season was quite disappointing, considering his age relative to the league and his pedigree.
  25. He doesn't have a position. I don't anyone looks at him as a "likely catcher". He was also a late riser.
