  1. I went through the PBP and looked at the nine (doubles + triples) he has on the year. Four were scored as line drives, three as fly balls, and two as ground balls. Can't really draw too many conclusions from that except to note that he hasn't boosted his slugging percentage with a plethora of down-the-line grounders.
  2. I would have expected them to start McGehee in LF and leave Hall at third, but maybe I'm crazy.
  3. You could perhaps read something into Hall starting today in LF combined with Braun's lingering back problems, were you so inclined.
  4. The latter. The former has not pitched since 2005.
  5. Is this the first time Cutter Dykstra's been moved out of the leadoff spot? He hit 8th today. He's clearly having some issues both with the Midwest League and his father's situation.
  6. Yeah, Gamel and Green are lefties too. It doesn't change the fact that Space Coast isn't nearly as hard on lefties as it is on righties. Just something to be aware of.
  7. I know the FSL in general is a pitcher's league, but Space Coast actually isn't too bad for lefties, so don't mentally mark up Gindl's numbers like you would with a right-handed hitter.
  8. They're not going to replace Duffy with Gillespie; Duffy is the backup CF.
  9. Matt LaPorta's getting called up to Cleveland. Tony Graffanino DFA'd in the same move.
  10. I guess we'll know if the Brewers see anything in Sanchez by whether or not he gets a midseason bump, given that he's already almost 22.5; however, the infield situation at Brevard County may make even a warranted promotion difficult to effect.
  11. Yeah, what got into Miranda? He's collected his season allotment of doubles the past two nights.
  12. Andundsen (#8) and Gindl (#13) make this week's Hot Sheet:
  13. Apparently the Brewers added a ten-game suspension of their own on top of the 50-gamer from MLB:
  14. Huge game from Kjeldgaard: 3-3 with two doubles and a homer, plus a walk.
  15. Wow! Lindsay Gulin somehow managed to allow twenty baserunners in six innings. I'm not even mad--that's amazing. Taking a break from the sarcasm, another really nice game from Amaury Rivas. Can't wait to see what he can do at AA. EDIT: 138 pitches! Great Odin's raven! EDIT AGAIN: Damn, they edited the box score; it was really Narveson in the 6th inning. My mind is unboggled.
  16. Congratulations to Sergio Miranda on his first two XBH of the year.
  17. Well that was a pretty underwhelming start from Jeffress. On the bright side, he walked in a run, so he'll clearly fit in on the Brewers.
  18. Details on the Lambertus suspension from Baseball America:
  19. Hey, I missed that Logan Schafer walked on Monday; with another one tonight, he's up to 2 on the year!
  20. Lucroy and Errecart consecutively attempted sac bunts in the 9th inning. Weird.
  21. Tuesday Dish: Anundsen No-Hits Daytona Posted Apr. 28, 2009 3:34 pm by Matt Eddy Pitching for high Class A Brevard County, Brewers righthander Evan Anundsen has thrown the 2009 season's first true no-hitter. That is, Anundsen-and Anundsen alone-held Daytona hitless for nine innings. The low Class A Hickory Crawdads, led by four innings from Martin Perez, threw a combined seven-inning no-hitter against Bowling Green on April 11. The Florida State League contest's 10:35 a.m. start time may have contributed to the sluggishness of the Cubs' bats, but it did little to slow Anundsen, Milwaukee's fourth-round pick in 2006 from Columbine High in Littleton, Colo. The 20-year-old struck out 10 Daytona batters, while walking one and hitting another in improving his season line to 2-2, 1.44 through four starts. He has struck out 25, walked eight and allowed no home runs in 25 innings. Anundsen went a modest 12-8, 4.28 in 28 starts for low Class A West Virginia last season, his first year in full-season ball. He never struck out more than eight batters in any one start in '08, but he now has registered a nine- and a 10-strikeout game this season. A groundball pitcher, Anundsen throws his fastball in the mid-80s but with good sink. Last year he compiled a 2.71 groundout-to-airout ratio; this year, it's a healthy 1.82. He'll mix in a curveball and a changeup, but he relies on inducing opponents to put the ball in play, usually on the ground, early in counts. This morning, he recorded 11 outs via the ground, and just six in the air.
