Jeffress threw in a wild pitch and a balk too, just for fun. I hope this was just rust, but it sucks to see both Jeffress and Braddock struggle in the pitcher-friendly FSL.
Ryan Braun may have more power, but his approach at the plate is not as advanced as Matt LaPorta's. That's what I think of when I read the phrase "polished hitter".
Yeah, it must suck being Chris Errecart in this organization. On the Giants, he'd probably be in the big leagues already. Here, he's just the sixth-best hitter at AA and blocked repeatedly at every conceivable position.
Four homers for Huntsville, none from LaPorta or Gamel. LaPorta got hit by a pitch and taken out of the game; anyone listening to the game who can provide details about where he was hit?
That's interesting, SunGrasses, thanks. In case anyone was wondering what happened to the other catchers on that list: Mitch Canham (1st round - Padres) [#57 overall] Joel Collins (10 - Blue Jays) [brewers picked C Eric Fryer in the 10th round, 14 picks earlier] Lars Davis (3 - Rockies) [The pick right after Lucroy] Ed Easley (1 - Diamondbacks) [#61 overall] Alex Garabedian (8 - Dodgers) Chris Gradoville (24 - Rangers) Trent Kline (49 - Giants) [did not sign] Tyler Weber - undrafted Matt Wieters (1 - Orioles) [#5 overall]
