  1. Glenallen Hill was one of the most jacked up juicers of the late 90's. He wasn't having a dream he was having a hallucination or a nocturnal rage. He still holds the longest homer ever hit in Wrigley?
  2. Don't know if it is true of not, but since he is a former Brewer... http://mlb-rumors.blogspot.com/2007/08/podsednik-to-cubs.html

  4. What year was Simmons on the ballot? It's hard to believe with career numbers stacking up against those HOFers that he didn't get in.
  5. Interesting stuff, wonder how much impact there has been on other pitchers with comparable stuff.
  6. Well I am an engineer (not that it means much) and an avid weightlifter and there are devices that can be used to lock you into position to force proper form and reduce your desire or natural inclination to cheat yourself as your muscles fatigue. Works the same way as a forced spotter I guess. Basically the arguement is that the "armor" manifests the proper swing time and again. Not sure this holds water, but can't necessarily refute it either. The size of Barry's body was always enough for me and the spike in numbers at an advanced age.
  7. Getting out of the first without giving up 4 runs would be a nice start tonight.
  8. Unreal I did not realize this but the Crew has allowed St; Louis to crawl within 5 games of .500. How desperately do we need this game?
  9. That might be enough. Tough day for the Crew if this holds up. I guess there is still tomorrow.
  10. Big out Cap, let's hope LaRussa made a mistake by pulling Reyes...heck he only gave up 2 hits.
  11. Is the crew seriously going to only get up 1 hit through 5IP?
  12. What has Cap thrown this inning 30+ innings? 3 walks, 3 runs, awesome.
  13. Definitely a tad deflating. I was really hoping a "playoff caliber" team would be capable of plating a runner with bases loaded and nobody out, but then again I have been watching this team for years and although disappointing definitely not shocking.
  14. I generally don't go after Yost much, but really can't think of too many other managers that would have let any pitcher walk three consecutive batters and let him pitch to another. I lay off Yost a lot and my buddy thinks I am a Yost apologist, but just can't understand that one. Altogether probably not the only reason the Crew lost this game, but surely didn't help.
  15. These old men are crushing Suppan's junk pretty hard.
  16. Um, Munch you need to remember to take the ball with you.
  17. I was actually at the Cubs game yesterday. I can't believe we wanted Dave Roberts. Without Bonds that lineup was brutal. The dbacks lineup regardless of what anyone thinks is much improved and with Webb pitching they have a pretty good chance.
  18. I'll probably get incarcerated for saying this, but doesn't this Crew team seem tailor made for DD? I mean as long as Doug is around the strike zone he will induce the Crew to swing away (although not nearly as bad as teams of the past). The prospect worries me a bit. That being said nothing but good things to say about Doug. Met him once at Kennedy's and he seemed like a real down to earth Joe. Along those lines maybe throw in a few base on balls tonight Doug?
  19. I just saw on Gametracker that Vargas singled (sweet). Can someone who is watching the game tell me how Gwynn didn't score from second? Was it a bloop that Gwynn had to hold up on in case it was caught? According to Jim the outfield was playing rather shallow.
  20. Tough call. With CV's pitch count you are at best going to only get one more inning out of him anyway. Might be worth pinch hitting? Edit: Ned's vodoo magic pays off?
  21. Yeah I have been on the fence about Vargas, but you can't have a starter just go out there and not be economical with his pitches. I can understand attacking and getting hit a little, but his approach is driving me mad. I have to imagine Ned something to him about it, but it doesn't seem to work. Powell seems a little perturbed about (not that it matters).
