If you look at 2016 when Bart Houston was benched, he had gone 10 for 18 and 110 yards midway through the 3rd quarter against Georgia State. Now Michigan is not Georgia State but Alex was at a near historic level of ineptitude last night and has had issues all year. He has regressed as a Junior which is really troubling. If Chryst really doesn't think that Jack Coan can give the team better production than what Alex provided last night then Jack Coan should be looking to transfer.
He is essentially the same QB he was as a freshman which is troubling. He is still highly inaccurate and throws way too many INT's. He had one yesterday and should have had at least one more. There should be greater progression in his game by now but there isn't. At this point I would roll the dice with Coan.
If what his lawyers are claiming does in fact exist then there might have been some outside pressure to bring charges. This may explain the lenght of the investigation and his statement in the press release about not being as connected as some people. Either way this is a very confusing case.
Wes Welker, James Harrison, and Arian Foster are all examples of undrafted players who were cut by at least one team. Same with Kurt Warner. Sometimes all it takes is being in the right system which may be happening to Jake right now.
2017 was also only the second time in his career his on base percentage was over .300 and it was the only time he has ever walked more than he struck out. His career stats are that he has 2x as many strikeouts than walks. 2017 was Sogard catching lightning in a bottle for a few weeks and then reverting back to his career norms. He is 32 and highly unlikely to replicate 2017. Saladino is only 28 and is much more versatile. I'll take Saladino over Sogard any day.
