  1. Are there any good minor league publications you would recommend over others? I remember reading At The Yard a couple years ago and thought it was kind of an interesting, easy to read magazine. I looked into getting a subscription for the upcoming year, but it seems they now have gone out of business or something? Of course I'm a huge Brewers fan at the major league level, but only since about last year have I begun to follow their minor league system more closely. I attend 10-12 Wisconsin Timberattlers games a year, not so much because I'm a fan of the Seattle system, but I enjoy seeing the other teams come to town and checking out their prospects. Long story short, specifically, I'm wondering if you recommend any publications over the others as far as prospect profiles and rankings, scouting reports and/or system rankings for the upcoming 2007 season? Are there any good magazines out there? I know there are a ton of websites, but I'm looking more for a publication that I can follow and bring to games with me. I think the Baseball America prospect handbook comes out around February...is that my best bet? For what it's worth, I'm not looking to spend more than $20 or $25..if possible. Thanks in advance...
  2. Wisconsin Men's Basketball losing to Missouri St. today...ugh
  3. That was quite possibly my favorite episode ever. (Michael to the new black guy that is joining the branch) "Here, come with me. I'll show you where the slaves work. Errr...no......" The G.I. line was also classic. Everything in the episode was perfectly "The Office"-esque.
  4. Just switched over from the Clemson / Virginia Tech game to see Detroit imploding before our very eyes. How quaint.
  5. Just a side note for whatever aspiring yogurt afficianados we may have lurking about. Does anyone else love the Yo Crunch yogurt? Where it comes with the pieces of crushed oreo or m&ms or whatever topping you want? I always like to add a handful of reeces pieces to it as well, it's de-lish. I also second the Cream Savers yogurt too...it's simply wonderful.
  6. What's wrong with 27 pitches in 2 innings? That would put him on pace for like 105 pitches in 8 innings...
  7. As much as I hate to admit it, because I was a big proponent of wanting to see him get traded today to some Mexican League team for a baker's dozen of chorizos.....I have a feeling that Geoff Jenkins breaks out a little bit tonight....2-4 with an HR, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Don't worry though, he will be back to being the same old Jenkins by this time tomorrow.
  8. For those of us listening to the radio, I saw ESPN Classic is showing a special on the 1982 World Series between the Crew and St. Louis from 2:30-3:30......suppose that has to do with Sutter getting inducted today. Anyway, might be something neat to watch and listen to the radio call of the game since we have no TV.
  9. Wow that sounds like a huge crowd today on that Mench single....with the Nesting Doll...I imagine it's another sellout of 43,000ish? Great to hear.
  10. Get that kid a chorizo! Princey es muy guapo!
  11. Thank goodness that Higuera interview is over....that wasn't exactly a pleasure to listen to.. THIS JUST IN FROM MIKE MADDUX: Doug Davis is a grinder
  12. muy bonito, Los Rojos, muy bonito
  13. Via con dios esta temporada baja, Mr. Davis, via con dios! (Schlitz....tu Haiku esta muy bien, es muy comico)
  14. Perhaps we need a little spanish flavor mojo tonight? Hola amigos y amigas! Sería agradable si ganamos esta noche! http://www.saveursdumonde.net/ency_6/charcute/images/chorizo.jpg
  15. I agree, Hall probably hits cleanup tonight and that means....Jenkins back to the 3 hole? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  16. Exactly. Get off the offense. They scored 5 runs and Cappy had a quality start. How is it because of the offense that we lost? What would you rather have...score 3 runs in the first inning and then have the bats come alive in the 8th to put 2 more on the board for five runs? Would that be better? Sure, insurance runs would be great...but I'll take 5-0 lead anytime....well...except...with this bullpen....
  17. Over/Under: We play 4 1/2 complete innings tonight. Price: -110 Over/Under: 0.5 sprained ankles tonight for the Brewers Over: +135 As a poster said in the chat room....hey...if we only play 5 tonight...at least our bullpen won't have a chance to blow it then...
  18. Just checked accuweather radar...no way we get to the 5th inning..the storms in Indiana seem to be getting bigger..not breaking up... My money is on the middle of the fourth when we get washed out...
  19. FSN is reporting a final decision on tonight's game will be made in 40 minutes (around 7:40 central).
  20. Delayed...someone in the chat room said WTMJ just reported 30-45 minutes until they get it going....

  23. Okay..that's kind of what I figured...so...ball:strike ratios aren't necassarily always that accurate I suppose... Thanks.
  24. Pitches-strikes - M Hendrickson 80-52; A Sele 13-7; H Kuo 43-29; K Escobar 103-70; B Donnelly 22-9; S Shields 9-6; K Gregg 18-12. This may have been brought up before as a question somewhere, and if so I apologize, but I'm curious about pitch counts. The above is just copied and pasted from a box score showing pitch counts. My question is about 2 strike foul balls. When a batter fouls off 5 pitches when he has two strikes, how are those pitches reflected in a pitch count? Are they just ignored? Are they included as strikes? Or for some reason are they counted as balls in a pitch count? I've been wondering for quite some time...
  25. I forgot all about the Baby Seal Award...didn't we used to have a sticky post somewhere with the criteria for it? Along with a glossary of other commonly used terms and their definitions and appropriate uses? Here's to a mid-day Baby Seal award for Mr. Marmalade! http://www.tigerhomes.org/animal/images/harp-seal-baby.jpg
