  1. That was interesting inning, but good to see Rogers strike out the side! He has really good late movement on his fastball. And agreed on the number 37 part.
  2. I can't believe how good Kameron Loe has been. Great job again by Melvin
  3. You got to realize the value of OPS at shortstop. It may only be .720 but compared to the rest of the AL with guys who are head of Hardy with at least 300 at bats 1. Yunel Escobar - .768 2. Alexei Ramirez - .740 3. Mike Aviles - .727
  4. Escobar has 428 PA vs. Hardy's 270 PA's this season. Someone would have to make up the Hardy missed games and it would have been Escobar getting called up. Thier OBP's are pretty much identical. The only difference is in slugging. Hardy has 104 total bases in 270 PA's and Escobar has 147 TB in 428 PAs. So if you rate Escobar down to Hardy's lower PA's he would have 12 few bases than Hardy in 270 PAs or if Hardy had the same PA's as Escobar and kept his slugging up that would be 17 more bases than Escobar. Of course Hardy is as slow as can be and wasn't the greatest base runner so I would also remember an earlier post someone referenced Escobar scoring from 1st or 2nd when you know Hardy wouldn't have. Escobar also has 10 steals with 4 caught for a net of 6. Hardy is at 0 with one CS and 1 steal. Even giving Escobar something like .66 of a base for his net steals subtracts about 4 bases from that 17 base deficit. All in all given the negligible difference in OBP, basically a 13 base difference in slugging, and better scoring from 1 or 2nd, and just the sheer number of games missed by Hardy I would say their offense is pretty much a wash or even slighly favors Escobar because of the durability and the fact he would have been playing anyway. I don't know why your going through all this work to figure out the value of these players, when all the factors you mention are included in the formula for WAR, except their formula is properly weighted. WAR shows Hardy as more than twice as valuable as Escobar this year. Hardy has been almost 4 times more valuable than Gomez. Gomez is awful. Beyond awful. Not really
  5. As for the lineup? Ozzie seems to have an affinity for sticking fast, slap hitters in the top two spots. Weeks is fast, but I can almost guarantee you Ozzie would have him batting fifth or sixth. I'd hate that for many reasons. Mainly because I think it's important to have guys at the top who are actually good at getting on and personally, I think Weeks would be a trainwreck in a RBI spot. Are you referring to Juan Pierre? Because he currently is 3rd on his team in OBP. And Omar Vizquel who hits 2nd for them is 2nd on the team. He actually moved Pierre out of the spot when he was struggling to get on base, so its not like he stuck him there and said that was that. The year they won the world series, as you know Scott Podsednik was leading off for them. He was 2nd on the team in OBP. I actually think he does value OBP at the top of the line up.
  6. Gomez has been smoking the ball the past few days. Braun is destroying the ball this past month .
  7. Yeah but the Yankees came to Miller Park last time we played them so we have to go to New York this time. Just like with Boston, we went to Boston in 08 so they have.. .Wait.
  8. If we somehow get Ervin Santana for Casey McGehee I would do back flips.
  9. Prince Fielder is currently OPSing .903 coming into today. That is good for 7th in the NL. Since June 1st he is OPSing .953.
  10. I have no problem with what Morgan did after getting hit the second time. He stole 2 bases down 11. IT WAS THE 4TH INNING. How dare him try to steal after we threw at him. What should we do? Lets throw at him again!! The Marlins should not of thrown at him the second time. Or they should of thrown him out trying to steal the first time.
  11. What sucks about Gamel coming out is that he has back to back double headers in the next 2 days. That is 4 start he will miss while sitting on the bench in Milwaukee. Sigh.
  12. I don't really have a problem with those comments either. And Ken, if your going to play both Cain and Gomez. Gomez should be in center and Cain in right.
  13. 1. Cubs 2. Twins 3. Cards
  14. Well that sucked. Gomez gets the rally started, we catch a break. And Hart and Rickie cant come through. Weeks had a couple really hittable pitches to hit in that at bat.
  15. McGehee swing the bat!! I wanted to see a Grand Slam right there so bad. 8 rbi's would of been crazy.
  16. Gamel starting at 1st tonight. Already with 2 doubles.
  17. So far tonight, Lyle Overbay is 3-4 with 2 home runs and 6 rbis and 3TO is 2-4 with 2 home runs and 4 rbis. Overbay is playing the Red Sox and Branyan is playing the Yankees http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif And Casey is red hot right now
