  1. Prince's OPS in 2009 was 1.014, in 07 it was 1.013. He's also 25. Braun's 2007 was also better then his year this year. To say they both had their "career years" at the age of 25 is kind of foolish.
  2. It actually is because he hasn't shown he can be a good player in the majors. Now if he proves this year that he can be good, then people will stop saying he sucks. Right now though, the only thing he's ever done in the majors is suck.In baseball, unless your a DH you play on offense and defense. Gomez had a replacement value at 20.5 in 2008 and a replacement value of 11.6 last year. So saying Gomez sucks would be incorrect
  3. So what? Because age matters?
  4. Carlos Gomez makes Melky Cabrera look like Mickey Mantle. I wouldn't feel so bad if we dumped Hardy for salary if we actually got a decent young piece back but lets be serious here. Carlos Gomez sucks. He has speed... and that's it. Now imagine him if he wasn't allowed to run on those few times he actually does reach base. I don't believe he'll ever be a good player. Again, he is arguably the best defensive CF in baseball. He plays defense at a rate which only a few can challange him at. Hes arguably the fastest player in baseball. He is 23 years old (going to be 24). He can develope into a better hitter. So saying "Carlos Gomez sucks" is not the correct answer
  5. Fanhouse reaction to the trade... http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2009/11/06/j-j-hardy-traded-for-carlos-gomez/ Still, he's only going to be 24 on Opening Day, 2010, and the Brewers can plug him into center field in place of most-likely-departing Mike Cameron. Gomez makes much more sense for the Brewers than Cameron anyway, considering his age and the fact that the Brewers already have enough power. They need table-setters. If Gomez can find a way to work his OBP up to the .350 (or more) range, he'll be a very valuable cog in the Milwaukee lineup.
  6. Gwynn had a 2.8 WAR this year. Gomez has been a 3.3 WAR player in his career.Gwynn Jr is 27 years old
  7. We now have Weeks, Gomez, Braun, Escobar and Hart. Ken Macha, its ok to steal a base. Please do.
  8. Turns out we didn't get anything for him. I'd rather keep him, hope he regains his value by the trade deadline next year and if he doesn't then you can still make a terrible trade for him later.Again, Gomez is the best defensive CF in baseball. We were going to miss Cameron next year so much. Who could the brewers have replaced in CF next year? We are actually UPgrading on defense in center next year. He's only 23 going to be 24. He still not developted yet on offense. If he can learn to take a walk once in awhile, we all of a sudden have an elite player.
  9. Im saying this right now, Escobar and Gomez are going to be so fun to watch together. Not just on the field either. They both are kinda "out" there with their own personallitys
  10. Exactly. However, I don't want him to bat 8th either as well. I don't want to waste his speed in the 8th spot.
  11. Well it only took 4 pages to have a real bad over reaction but we finally have had one.
  12. Big fan of this trade, we just aquired the Best defensive CF in baseball. He might not hit as much as Cam did but he is a defensive player. Good to see us pay attention to defense instead of going all in on offense. When you have Braun and Fielder, its ok to have some guys who are great defensive players at important postions. Escobar and Gomez will be fun to watch.
  13. Folks, we have a superstar in the making in Jennings. He scored 16 in the 3rd, including 11 out of 13 for the Bucks and a highlight reel lay up. He also played some real nice D at times. If only we could hit wide open shots. This is the most excited i have been about the bucks in a long time.
  14. Awesome game for Jennings! 17 pts. He hit 2 three's and a couple really long two's wiht his foot on the line. 9 assists. Probably could of had 11 or 12 if we knew how to hit a open shot. 9 rebounds. This suprised me. I always knew he could but man can Jennings fly. He had a fast break were he went, right left, right left, lay up while going coast to coast in a blink of a eye. He also made a couple really nice passes. Redd didnt look bad considering this was his first real game coming off of ACL. He did miss a couple wide open shots however. Andrew Bogut looked terrible. Missing lay ups. Getting beat. He ended up with 8 pts and 6 rebounds, pretty disapointing. Couldn't find Kurt Thomas with a search light. Warrick looked... alright I suppose. Missed a couple bunnies however. Ilyasova likes to shoot. He looked really really nervous out there. Like he was trying to do everything way to fast. Sucks to lose by 13 points, but I thought we saw a couple good signs in the game. We are a young team and at times its going to be frustrating. Hopefully we can get jacked up for the home opener tonight. Already becoming a huge fan of Jennings.
  15. As I have mentioned before, I talk to Washburn once and awhile. A buddy of mine also goes hunting with him all the time (I dont hunt). But he knows im a Brewer fan, what happenes if he mentions going to Milwaukee to me? What am I suppose to say? I really don't want him to come to Milwaukee, but im really not going to say that to him haha
  16. It think it would be funny PrinceFielderx1 is really Prince Fielder asking for some advice from brewer fans http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif. But seriously, I hope we offer him a big deal and he accepts. However its so hard to see it happening.
  17. Just reading those words.... man I wish this was true.
  18. In no order at all... - King Yo taking Randy Johnson deep - Prince grand slam vs. the Indians - Home opener vs. Chicago with Weeks spiking his helmet - Gamel's homer against St. Louis - King Yo dominating the Pirates - Prince bomb at home plate - Prince breaking Cecil's record - Braun's 100th - Braun's walk off on F.A.N. - The Kendall little league home run to beat the Twins - Hoffman's Miller Park debut - Prince's homer off the scorboard - Cameron's catch - Dave Bush bringing a no hitter into the 8th - Hall's walk off hit against the Cards - McGehee's Grand Slam after giving the lead to the Mets, and having him scream in his helmet. - Prince walking off, and standing at 2nd base with his arms open and having the team dog pile on him - McGehee's pinch hit homer on the day his son threw out the first pitch - Triple Play - McGehee's 4-5 day in Chicago - PRINCE STEALING 2ND ON RUSSELL MARTIN http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif - Lopez going 4-4 in his Brewer debut in Pittsburgh, only reason he was in was because of a rain delay. - Fielder's 2 homer day to finish off 2009 Okay so I probably named a few to many, I miss Brewer baseball already http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif.
  19. Scott Podsednik was traded for Carlos Lee even after a bad season...you never know. Exactly. We don't need 10 GM's wanting to bet McGehee was not a fluke, we just need 1. The point is Scott Podsednik's "bad season" still validated him as a major league player (he led the NL with 70 steals in 04) and not a one year wonder at least as far as base running. Many Sox fans love what Podsednik did for them in 05 and he bounced back again and had a really good year this year too. That's why even if McGehee is ordinary next year, he'll retain his current value. If he repeats his 09 numbers, his value will shoot up incredibly. Scott Podsednik is not a very good baserunner. His SB percentage is around 72% in his career, which is almost hurting the team. In 04 he ended up posting a .677 OPS. And while slugging is not as important as a lead off hitter his OBP was .311.
  20. Scott Podsednik was traded for Carlos Lee even after a bad season...you never know.Exactly. We don't need 10 GM's wanting to bet McGehee was not a fluke, we just need 1.
  21. Alot has been talked about Prince and his awesome year he had with the bat. Hitting 46 homers, knocking in 141 runs and walking 110 times. However, I think more needs to mentioned on how well he played defense this last year. Coming up everyone knew he was going to struggle on defense, but with his offense you could live with it. Look at Prince Fielders UZR/150 these past years (Runs above average per 150 defensive games) 2006: -11.5 2007: -9.5 2008: -8.2 As you can see he has improved the last 3 years. And this year.. +0.1 Not only has Prince turned into a elite hitter in baseball, he has also turned himself into a pretty good defensive 1st baseman.
  22. I think everyone needs to remember Gamel is terrible on defense, and that might be a little to easy on him. Not saying I want McGehee, just saying.
  23. I was at the game, unbelivable atmosphere
  24. SI's John Heyman says (tweets)... "Trevor Hoffman will be returning to to the brewers. deal for about $8 mil expected to be done within a week"
  25. I feel a little better.. Prince is the youngest player every to have multi 45+ home run seasons
