  1. I'm all for bringing him in. Those calling him racist are only taking a surface look at him, judging him through a narrow world-view. Luke Scott article.
  2. Other than the disappointing Cubs series, The Brewers have probably done as well as can be expected. Maybe a game worse.logan, you can't just take that series out of the equation though...just like you can't take that one bad inning out of most of Narveson's starts that Schroeder keeps talking about in the broadcasts. The reality is that something HAS to be done about the hole behind Prince now, while the Crew is in first and the Living Statue is out for up to the next six weeks in St. Louis. I know Green hasn't "proven" it for a whole year in AAA, but he's been really impressive and has earned a chance.
  3. In Prince's post-game interview, he couldn't recall what the big-run inning was exactly...this whole thing about Tony P not knowing it was the ninth isn't as big of a deal as some here think. These guys play a long season, I'm sure they process the games mentally different than fans.
  4. I'm feeling uneasy, but cautiously optimistic over the first two picks. I couldn't imagine how exciting it would be to be a Rays fan today, or a Rays front-office guy...10 picks in the top 60?! That's nuts. How many (if any) of those guys are going to draft and follow guys?
  5. Someone's still celebrating Cinco de Mayo methinks.
  6. Where's Tanaka when we need him to give a pep talk to Yo? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKq1uF1T__8&feature=related
  7. Interesting thought, though if Fielder is shipped, I'd personally like Andy LaRoche instead of Lee with Gamel at third with the Brewers shipping McGehee to the A's for one of their extra starters as was suggested on MLBTR further down the page in the Iwakuma article. The Crew needs some lefty bats.
  8. Wow. Thanks Mass. Great blog by BA. He does a really nice job of writing.
  9. Edgar, I understand that, still doesn't change the fact that she showed no tact. It could have been handled much better. I have no doubts had the roles been reversed, Ernie would have done it correctly.
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanne_Zelasko This is the clearest piece I can still find on it. It's right below her biography. The fact that he said that it didn't offend him, allowing the matter to drop, is just more proof of how classy he is.
  11. Thanks for posting that Jim. Ernie Harwell, to me, is easily one of the classiest men in baseball. He'll be a great loss to the game. If I ever, for whatever reason, need a quick spike in my blood pressure, all I need to do is recall how horribly treated he was by Jeannie Zelasko during the 2005 All-Star game festivities. I can't type the words I was shouting at my television when it happened.
  12. Well, yesterday I took a leap of faith and left my well-salaried, full-benefits job as a CPA to start a business with a childhood friend doing digital signage. My friend has run a multi-media advertising business for years, but he doesn't design websites. He has "a guy" but I don't think he's over-the-top thrilled with him. We have our URL already (alcovedigital.com), but I took web publishing back in the mid-nineties so I'm unsure what language can be used to build it. I'd love your input Brian.
  13. Could he be the young, toolsy, buy low type in need of a change of scenery that the Crew could be looking for? What would it take to get him?
  14. Maybe the guy they referenced on the radio was going off of what TH said...who knows. When all is said and done, hopefully it works out for the Crew. Billy can play one of a number of positions (obviously), there won't be a problem finding him ABs.
  15. That was TH's guess in his post. Maybe so, but the guy they referenced wasn't Haudricourt from what I could hear ( I was on the phone in my office ).
  16. I don't get the hate either. This is why America is awesome. This guy was able to take goofing around with his friends and make something out of it. Kudos to him and darn it all, why didn't I think of it first! I did see him on Letterman and he was actually quite good talking with Dave. He just seemed like a guy that was happy to be here and understood his fortune.
  17. FWIW, on The Big 1070 they said that Burns and Iribarren were getting the call. They referenced a beat writer as their source of info, but I didn't hear it clearly. Sorry, no link to provide proof.
  18. Ha! That's a great one jwill! Someone, anyone take Jeff Suppan off of the Brewers hands. Talk about addition by subtraction.
  19. No one has any opinion at all on this guy?
  20. I read over on mlbtraderumors.com that he may be available as well. Would he be a good target to acquire & what do you think it would take to get him?
  21. Probably so, but I think the point that some appear to be missing or leaving out of the discussion is that Counsell and McGehee cannot play every day for the rest of the season due to health and Macha won't give regular PT to Gamel (moot now). Hall isn't playing at a league average pace and Heether has less of a chance of playing than Gamel did. Put simply, Lopez was needed.
  22. Obviously Gamel wasn't a solution to Macha. Given that, this trade is absolutely a necessity. Both McGehee and Counsell are nursing bad knees. Bill Hall is just plain terrible. Lopez is a proven commodity. Adam Heether is not. That no one was posting about the need for someone like Lopez, means nothing about whether or not the deal should've been done. Neither one of the guys given up were integral to the future of the franchise. You are correct, they do have value. They netted the team a proven major league starting SS/2b that can switch-hit and is a leadoff hitter. He's no great of the game, but he makes sense given the team's situation.
  23. True X, but the fact that Bailey has actually thrown a pitch in the majors makes him the better pick at this point in time.
  24. DM's trust in Jack Z to identify top talent to draft was pretty well documented through the various print and a/v features that have been done. DM had the ability to say yes or no, but he was going almost totally on Jack Z and his staff. DM works more on the day to day baseball operations of the major league club. I do give credit, Homer, to DM for finding some diamonds in the rough, but they were largely flashes in the pan, Doug Davis and Podsednik notwithstanding. Some here have mentioned Mags as another discovered gem, I find it ironic that, especially here, sample size hasn't been brought into the discussion on him. Obviously for the Brewers organization, I hope his current streak isn't an outlier.
  25. DM was pulling his chute methinks. I have always been in the "Jack Z is the reason for Milwaukee's success" camp. DM has done some nice things, but this team was built through the draft and scouting for the most part. I'm sure some here won't agree with me, that's fine, but I think DM wants out too.
