    Are you the judge and jury? Show me evidence Attanasio hasn't stepped in on a few crucial baseball decisions.

    We finished tied for 7th in the NL for reliever WHIP. Behind the Dodgers, Houston, Arizona, Cubs, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.

    Would this be the same bullpen that gave up exactly 1 run in 4 post season games? 4 games is a good sample size now?

    The players would laugh in the face of "some guy" and tell him to sit there and get some real experience. "Some guy" would also have a fun time trying to implement his moves when the players don't respect him. It might work in the movies but I highly doubt we'd be better with Steve from accounting managing our team in real life.

    Oh come on. Suppan was brought in for the right reasons, its just that the results on the mound were not what we desired.I have no doubt Attanasio's intentions were pure. His logic sucked though. As is being talked about in another thread, "big game pitcher" is not the "right" reason to bring a guy in for big money. If we were getting Suppan just to be an inning filler we should have kept Doug Davis on the cheap. We were getting Suppan for the playoffs is a main reason Attanasio gave. In the NLCS, Suppan pitched eight shutout innings for the victory in Game 3, then allowed one run over seven innings in Game 7, which the Cardinals went on to win 3-1 on Yadier Molina's two-run homer in the ninth. St. Louis then went on to beat Detroit in five games for the World Series title. Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said that kind of performance was important to him as he tries to make the Brewers a "perennially competitive" team. "What you want to do is add a winner," Attanasio said. Attanasio invited the pitcher and his agent to dinner at his home last week. "It was a very relaxed evening," Attanasio said. "There was a lot of give and take, I got to know Jeff. I came away impressed."

    If you can't pitch Suppan in the playoffs than Attanasio's infatuation with Suppan was the blunder for the ages. (Jeffrey Hammonds territory) Further adds to my leeriness about Attanasio's involvement in baseball decisions.

    Dave Bush doesn't HAVE to stay or go. He isn't the core of the Brewer's future. We always seem to get caught up in the hype, e.g. Bill Hall, Brady Clark, Derrick Turnbow, etc. He's an average to slightly above average pitcher. That's fine, he's a good 4 or 5 on a playoff team. But if for instance Melvin puts him a package this winter, etc I'm not going to be outraged.

    Aside from the obvious CC choice: The Pirates and Russell Branyan. Branyan gave us an offensive surge around the time we got wally-whomped by Boston. Gave us some confidence back....

    I don't want to focus on any negatives since it's been so long since the Brewers have been in the playoffs, so if we get there Sveum and the rest of the guys on the roster are gods, imo. But we've won one series since Sveum has been manager and that was over the Pitt Pirates who Yost owned this year. Personally I think Yost would have us in the same position today but I don't care anymore cause WE'RE TWO GAMES AWAY BABY!

    I've been saying the exact same thing going on year 3 now. I wouldn't even mind trading Hart for a solid starting pitcher and a couple solid relievers and stick Gamel in left field. Melvin is kind of behind the 8 ball though because Jack Z. hasn't sent up a good quantity of solid arms through the minors.

    I'm no stat guru but bullpen era doesn't seem to tell the story well. Our reliever WHIP is 10th in the National League and we're 4th in blown saves in the NL according to ESPN's Stats.

    Selig would probably move the game to Cleveland or the next nearest city to Pittsburgh.

    The drafting that has failed to develop any sort of relief pitching? It's no coincidence that Doug's weakness is also Zack's weakness.You have to ask what good is Melvin then. He obviously has a hard time putting together a solid bullpen and has made some blunders, (Gagne-10 Mil, extending T-bow, Brady Clark, Bill Hall, etc.). We can do better.

    We were going to be on an up tick no matter who the GM was because of Jack Z. Melvin's now had two years to capitalize on Zduriencik's great drafting and has failed.

    "I would love to know how Solomon Torres can't secure a 4 run lead with 2 outs. Seriously, what the hell? This team is in very big trouble and it hurts real bad right now." Because he's yet another washed up retread reliever, the kind we've had to endure for the past five years.

    And another thing that ticked me off, way to throw away 2nd and 3rd with no outs, Igoramus.

    Thus far Melvin has shown an ineptness to assemble a playoff caliber bullpen and to acquire the needed complimentary pieces for our offense. I realize I may look like a fool if our offense gets hot but assuming we continue to tank: Who do you think can get us to our destination after some minor rebuilding over the next few years?

    Heck of a bullpen you put together Melvin. You had one job this off season and you failed miserably. Was this Melvin's talking point this spring, "Lets get a bunch of losers and sign em for big money. They sucked last year, then they're going to be good this year." I think Melvin needs to walk after this year along with Torres and the rest of the clowns in our bullpen.

    We're still tied for the lead in the WC after 150 games. At least fire the guy after we drop out of the top spot. To switch managers still in the lead of a playoff hunt with so few games left is just bizarre. It's an unprecedented move for a reason.

    My only point when saying "California banker" is to emphasize that while Mark A. seems like a nice guy and has committed finances to this team (and fans committed finances to him in exchange) his area of expertise is not baseball.
