  1. MLB.tv blocks 98% of VPNs and actively block new IP addresses. As does the NBA.tv package.
  2. That show was much better than it had any right to be. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The relentless positivity is something I definitely needed in 2020.
  3. The Boys.

    Pizza

I'm a big fan of Lalli's pizza on 89th and North in Milwaukee. Other favorites include, Pizzeria Scottie's for deep dish and Taratino's for a solid thin crust.
  5. I wanted to take a look at this, and sorted by wrc+ and also by wOBA wRC+ : 2011 Ryan Braun 171 2019 Christian Yelich 170 2018 Christian Yelich 166 1987 Paul Molitor 165 1979 Sixto Lezcano 165 1982 Robin Yount 164 2009 Prince Fielder 161 2011 Prince Fielder 160 2012 Ryan Braun 159 1978 Larry Hisle 156 wOBA: -------- 2019 Christian Yelich .437 1987 Paul Molitor .433 1979 Sixto Lezcano .428 2011 Ryan Braun .426 2009 Prince Fielder .422 2018 Christian Yelich .422 2007 Prince Fielder .419 1982 Robin Yount .415 2012 Ryan Braun .413 2011 Prince Fielder .410

  7. Well, he was a Cardinal, and from what I hear VERY classy Seriously though, that one is a head-scratcher. Granted it was during the war years and the talent league-wide was diluted, but Marion had a .686 OPS, 6 homers, and just 63 RBIs! Must've had something to do with the Cardinals winning the Series that year I'm sure. Any one of the next three guys in the voting that season would've been my choice: Bill Nicholson, Cubs -- .287/391/.545/.935 OPS, 33 HR's, 122 RBIs Dixie Walker, Dodgers -- .357/.434/.529/.963 OPS, 13 HR's, 91 RBIs Stan Musial, Cardinals -- .347/.440/.549/.990 OPS, 12 HR's, 94 RBIs - you'd think Musial would've won it with St. Louis taking it all that year I guess he was that good! https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/7a722fee
  8. I’m with you on Lutz. If reports of his pre-draft 110-mph exit velocities are accurate he has a chance to be a difference maker with the bat.
  9. You're assuming the company is compensating and allowing people to work their way up. The new way of doing things in big companies is to care less for training, make people do that in their own time, then not give them compensation in accordance with their new skillsets. Loyalty flows two ways, it's something I've learned in tech over the last 10 years, and in general, companies over 50 or so people, don't have loyalty, only profit margins.
  10. Can I ask where you're off to? Best of luck I was someone who used to hate teaching classes (I coach software development teams) and slowly fell in love with it. Being in front of a group became more comfortable and learning to get the group engaged through powerful questions was truly helpful.

  12. I dont have it, so I cannot speak to it directly. However, all of my friends talk about it and love it. Most often they mention days where there are just amazing deals. Steam is a service (marketplace?) where you can buy games digitally, and download them at your leisure to replay them anytime. Where it truly is amazing, however is the "Wishlist" feature, (I want these 8 games) and it will then notify you when they go on sale. You can also 'friend' people on Steam and find out when they are playing (and what they are playing). So if you want to co-op with buddies it makes it easier.
  13. I'm a PC gamer, and I've become mildly addicted with a game called Factorio. You build a factory, automate some stuff, automate more stuff, make trains to help you automate even more stuff and then suddenly it's 2am.
  14. Mr. Glass was amazing in Firefly, probably my favorite performance from the single-season cult hit. R.I.P.
  15. 1) Congrats on the soon-to-be parent! 2) Try outs are the norm... at least in my field (I.T.) Companies use it as a final screening process. Who you are on paper doesn't compare (at all) to who you are analytically/socially/ability-wise... which is who they want to hire. 3) If you like your current supervisor and you have the ability to grow at your current job, stay there. You'll find there are a lot more terrible bosses than good ones. Companies are starting to learn this, but, it's a slow process. For example, in IT, many companies, once you get to a point as a programmer, your next step is to become a manager. What does being an amazing programmer have to do with being a good manager? Absolutely nothing. Not a single thing. Leads to a lot of awful managers.
  16. In every interview since I've worked there I was asked why I left that place. I'm assuming they will ask me as well, and I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but are you saying I should lie instead of tell the truth that I was let go (because the CEO was using shady accounting practices to make the company look successful to investors until he ran out of money and was eventually sued by multiple people)? Saying "The company went out of business" or "I was let go due to budget constraints within the company." is a perfectly acceptable answer to that question. You don't have to delve deeper into it, really.
  17. Contact every staffing agency. Don't just contact them, find jobs on their website and apply for them specifically. http://www.net-temps.com/staffing-agencies/Milwaukee/1/ Is a solid list, although I'm not sure how often it is updated.
  18. Do not just go up there without having a job first. It's amazing how many friends I've known who have done things like that and never found a decent job after moving for a significant other. If things don't work out between the two of you (these things happen, to many, many, many couples) you don't want to be stuck both girlfriendless and unhappy in your job.
  19. In my experience, the last two years, very few HR people have a clue what job hunters are going through and the job-hunting industry has completely lost it's personal touch. I've had interviews scheduled for positions I am completely unqualified for, I even had one case where I sat down to a second interview and it turned out I was interviewing for a completely different position than the one I'd interviewed for over the phone (and no one bothered to tell me this) and I've had about 1/4th of the companies I interviewed with even follow up with me afterwards.
