  1. I used to go to Berkeley running store on University Ave across from Whole Foods when I lived in Madison. Always had good experiences but I'm sure it's completely different people working the floor now.
  2. Who has the home field in a Texas vs. Baltimore or NY one-game playoff? Edit: @ Baltimore if Baltimore wins tonight and NYY wins @ Texas if Baltimore loses @ Bal/NYY loser if AL East tie
  3. They've blown it open, 12-5. Hamilton is worse than Kotsay in that gigantic CF, do they not have anyone else to play center?
  4. I don't know if it's just random luck, but it seems the Yankees are not the kind of team that will blow the division title, especially after last night's game.
  5. Oakland has caught Texas and today's game decides the AL West title. The loser has to play a 1-game playoff with the Orioles. Since everyone is already technically "in", the games this week are basically playoff games meant to avoid the single elimination game. The fans are definitely buying it in Oakland, the atmosphere is crazy there.
  6. Yep I was a huge fan of the Weather Channel until NBC/Universal ruined them. Even worse, they have been slowly buying up all the private weather companies, they recently acquired my former employer, Weather Central, in Madison. They also acquired Weather Underground recently. I will say that they do still provide excellent coverage when there is a severe weather event. Their severe weather and hurricane specialists are top notch. And as for winter weather, the forecast is showing snow across much of Minnesota on Thursday night - Friday. Still 85 and humid in Miami :-)
  7. Closer shopping is almost always a waste of money. Henderson and Kintzler would both be just as good at closing as anyone else on the market. Spend money on maybe one or two cheaper arms and then let everyone else duke it out in spring training.
  8. Also need a couple Dodger losses as well. Well in that case, the season's probably over.
  9. Cards 0-6 Brewers 6-0 (including 1-game playoff)
  10. It would be nice for the Brewers to at least secure a winning season...
  11. Homer Bailey has 6 perfect innings vs. the Pirates. The Pirates are horrible. Too bad about the Cards winning, 5-1 after 1 inning.
  12. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor???
  13. After declaring the season over (for the 4th or 5th time this year), here I am again looking forward to checking the score tonight.
  14. I think most of us figured that the bullpen would find a way to finish off this season in one way or another.
  15. Yes I agree, at first I only saw the replay where he was messing with the sleeve on his arm. I find it hard to believe that he would come out for a groin issue though.
  16. Rock and Brian think something was going on since the previous inning. It appears he was trying to pitch through the pain. Maldonado had noticed it, but Aramis Ramirez finally came in and got Wily pulled from the game. It's almost certainly an arm problem based on his reactions. Edit--could be groin or arm, I'm not really sure after looking at the replays again.
  17. When was the last time Gomez went opposite field? Answer: Never. That was his first career opposite field HR.
  18. Looks like both pitchers brought their A-game early today.
  19. Yeah, that's ugly...but crazier things have happened. Really, it's just amazing that they (most likely) are going to have a winning season after how far back they were in August.
  20. Another extremely important game. After today, the Brewers have the scheduling advantage over the Cardinals, so they should be able to pick up ground. The bad news is there's no room for error, they must sweep Houston.
  21. So this means there's an 80% chance Matt Kemp is a cheater?
  22. Seems like if they can't get a game back tomorrow they are just about toast. At the pace the Cardinals are winning, even a 9-1 road trip might not have been enough.
