  1. Did anyone just see Andrew Bogut's injury? That one is up there with Geoff Jenkins' ankle. I just hope he's back for the 2010-2011 season.
  2. It is working for me--I went into MLB at-bat and it prompted me to log in.
  3. There is a line of strong to severe thunderstorms moving into the LaCrosse area. Showers and a few thunderstorms should eventually reach SE Wisconsin overnight, but they will have weakened considerably. The dew point is only 50 degrees. Edit: There was an amazing temperature change at the Summerfest grounds today--the temperature increased 22 degrees F in 10 minutes! 3:50 PM T=57 F, Wind = SSE 5 mph4:00 PM T=79 F, Wind = S 24 mph
  4. I do not go nearly as far back as many here, but this is also Miller Park's 10th season already. That makes me feel old. There is now a growing generation of Brewers fans that never saw a game at County Stadium.
  5. The last 2 years, we have used Canal St. to get into the preferred lot. It works amazingly well, even though we are coming from the west. If you are coming in from the west via I-94 or National Ave, I highly recommend (if you see a traffic jam) to drive past the stadium and take 27th St to Canal.
  6. Good to see Prince getting hot at the right time. A HR on opening day would be nice.
  7. I suspect an outfield of Dye and Braun would be one of the worst defensive outfields in MLB. At least Hart is an average defender.
  8. My argument was going to be that Gomez is 11/11 SB, but I noticed that Escobar was 42/52 in Nashville last year. Point taken.
  9. I would like to see: Gomez Weeks Braun Fielder Gomez is only up there because of his base stealing ability, his OBP is generally way too low for the leadoff spot. Escobar does not belong anywhere near the top of the lineup at this point in his career.
  10. Last year they had the same record at home and on the road, so I'm not concerned. Young teams tend to struggle on the road, but this team isn't really young anymore.

  12. I'd say that we should use Suppan to throw bean balls, but he would probably miss for a strike.
  13. At least one article is predicting the Brewers to win the division: http://msn.foxsports.com/...l-title-not-in-the-cards
  14. I think this article from 2005 sums up the problem. The zoo interchange project and the stadium interchange project were both going to destroy a number of homes, which resulted in opposition from neighborhood associations. The I-94 expansion to Illinois did not present the same political roadblocks, so they went ahead with it instead, without considering that the bridges have a expiration date. Now, they are wasting money on new bridges that they are going to tear down in 5 years when the whole interchange is rebuilt. I suspect this will also have an indirect impact on stadium traffic for Brewers games, but it is hard to quantify at this point.
  15. 91 wins. This is a solid team that will benefit from a weak division (minus the Cardinals). CardinalsBrewersCubsPiratesRedsAstros
  16. Attendance is always delayed a year from success. The Brewers have followed this pattern almost every year since Miller Park opened. If the team improved over their previous record, attendance went up the following year. If the team regressed, attendance went down. Walk-up crowds have almost no bearing on the big picture. The last time the Brewers and Bucks both had winning records was 1987. In 1982, the Brewers, Packers, and Bucks all finished in 1st place (the NFL season was strike-shortened).
  17. It has to be non-linear. You could find a hyperbola that would solve that. I do not remember how to get the equation though.
  18. That map is actually one of the more favorable models for snow. The other model has Milw/Madison getting only sprinkles/flurries.
  19. That arena was not even full. The problem was that all the fans of the late game were cheering for the upset. Somebody forgot to tell the Big East that the tournament started.
  20. The problem was not necessarily that he fell apart, it was that Melvin gave him too much money and Yost kept sending the poor guy out there. Everyone knew that he needed the bases empty to be most effective, but I remember him going out there several times with runners already on base and no control--with the fans ready to jump on him as soon as he threw 2 balls in a row. My favorite memory is from the bobblehead night. The Brewers scored 4 runs in 30 seconds on back-to back bombs in the bottom 8th--before Turnbow came in and promptly gave up a bomb. Someone from the bleachers ripped off the head of his bobblehead and threw it onto the field--we ended up laughing instead of being upset about the loss. Of course, it all would have been forgotten if that line drive in the bottom 9th landed 6 inches farther to the right.
  21. That map is updating twice per day. As you can see, the snowfall has decreased but shifted to the south. There are 2-3 other models that are also considered, along with a number of other factors. Since it is spring and the snow will be wet/heavy and melt at first, the forecasts in that map are on the high end of what can be expected. At this point, there is no way of knowing what exactly will happen. Anywhere from a trace to 8" is a possibility. I am fairly certain that it will start as rain and everyone should see at least some snowflakes. Even the timing of the snow differs--one model has it coming Friday night, which would help with accumulations. The rest favor Saturday during the day.
  22. We always seem to get one snowstorm in March--and this looks to be the one. The models are still very inconsistent, but snow is likely somewhere in the Midwest this weekend. Southeastern Wisconsin is likely to see mostly rain, with a changeover to snow at the end. Portions of central and western Wisconsin are more likely to see accumulating snow--although the recent warm temperatures (could be in the mid-to-upper 60s on Thursday) will hold accumulations down. The main story really is not the possibility of snow, but the return to normal temperatures for next week. After all, the normal high is still only 42 in both Madison and Milwaukee. The normal high does not reach 55 until April 11 in Madison and April 18 in Milwaukee. Edit: Here is one of the model forecast snowfall images--painting a band of 16-20" of snow across much of the state. Of course, that is unlikely, but it is within the realm of possibilities, and it would not be historically unusual for this time of year. http://204.2.104.196/gfs/WINTER_GFS0P5_SFC_ACCUM-SNOW_120HR.gif
  23. There's nothing wrong with him. The only thing that matters is his fastball velocity. Without seeing the start, I would say that it is actually encouraging based on him already throwing 91 mph at this point in spring training. In addition, Sheets threw almost all fastballs. He will dominate this year--as he did the 85% of the time that he was healthy as a Brewer.
