  1. Unbelievable. I've never seen any baseball set such high expectations for himself and then go and meet them.
  2. Maybe Rivera hasn't played in so long that he thought he was 23 years old again?
  3. 5-6-3 DP. You don't see that one every day.
  4. Agreed. With us being a primarily right handed, pull hitting lineup, it gives us a noticable advantage. He's even slower out there than I remember, especially going back on balls such as Hart's double in the 8th last night.
  5. Nice baserunning by Rickie. Time for Prince to end his mini-slump.
  6. Nice start for Soup tonight. It would be great if he finds his stuff again for the stretch run.
  7. There's definitely room for adding capacity in the far LF and RF corner of the terrace, although those seats are some of the last to be sold. In LF, it could probably go 5-7 rows higher in about 3 sections up there to make the seating bowl touch the outside wall. That would be maybe an extra 300-500 seats. In RF, it looks like it could go higher from about section 405 through section 410. A few of these sections could probably go 10 rows higher which would add 500-700 seats at least. The loge bleachers and Dew Deck could both be extended farther towards Center Field--essentially adding 2 more full Loge Bleacher sections where Tundra Territory is right now. They could get 500-1000 more seats out of that. Same thing in LF, more Loge bleachers covering the Brewers bullpen--500 more seats. Thus, I think they could get at least 2,000 more seats in and possibly more. However, I like the ballpark the way it looks now. The terrace additions seem like a waste of time for seats that would only be sold about 20 times per year. However, the value in additional bleachers would be greater. I doubt they would actually do it, though.
  8. I'm still unsure about the playoffs and I change my mind every week, but for now: Cubs vs. Arizona Milwaukee (WC) vs. Philadelphia LA Angels vs. NY Yankees (WC) White Sox vs. Boston I'm not ready to count out the Dodgers, Cardinals (if the Cubs or Brewers fall off), Mets, Tigers, or Rays No matter what people say, the Rockies, Marlins, Braves, and Twins aren't going to make a run. The Blue Jays, Rangers, and Reds are all having decent seasons but are not talked about. It wouldn't surprise me at all if all the NY, Chi, and LA teams make it in, but the odds are kind of slim with all the other good teams still in it.
  9. I would never predict better than 2-4 on a SD/LA trip, 1-5 is what we usually do, 3-3 would be amazing.
  10. Harden's still better than what they had before. Also, I think Len Kasper and Bob Brenly are good announcers. Of course they are biased towards the Cubs, that's what they are getting paid to do. Still, compared to other national announcing teams, they work well together, they usually are talking about something interesting, and they are enthusiastic but not completely over the top giddy for the Cubs.
  11. That leads me to suspect that the definition of a sellout is skewed. The crowd last night was 41,357 and the seating capacity is 41,900. I can believe that there were 500 single/obstructed view seats that went unsold. If there were 1,000 open seats in the Terrace, maybe seating areas like the Gehl Club and Mercedes-Benz Field House are counted towards the attendance but not counted towards the seating capacity.
  12. We're 7-1 since the all-star break!!! I would like to see a big offensive outburst tonight, that has been our limiting factor.
  13. I think the Brewers and the JS article bragging about high ticket sales probably scared some people away. I always thought it was best not to say anything in order to not scare people away.
  14. Even though we had offensive issues in STL, we did get lots of runners on base. With a sellout crowd cheering the guys on, I expect they will come up with some clutch hits.
  15. I guess I didn't hear the booing because I was jumping around my apartment and screaming.
  16. I agree with the comment about Cardinals fans being the most classy in baseball. Their bullpen has been terrible and they blew it again, but you didn't hear any booing in the stadium, just deathly silence. I think the emptyness of 42,000 people sitting silently in their seats sends the same message as Brewers fans booing loudly after our relief pitching gives up runs.
  17. You just don't know. Maybe we'd be in the same situation right now except 2 games ahead of the Cubs instead of 1 game behind if we had Gallardo. All I know is that I like where we are right now, but to keep the momentum going, we have to take at least 3/4 against the Cubs.
  18. I have absolutely no problem with it. My roommate isn't a baseball fan and I was trying to explain the whole "unwritten rules" thing to him and I showed him a clip of Braun's controversial HR from last year as an example. He simply could not understand how taking a few steps after hitting a home run could be worthy of getting thrown at. Let's face it, after that HR, we were all jumping up and down and screaming and we expect him to just put his head down and jog around the bases when he just hit one of the biggest home runs of his career?
  19. BA is saying that we are down to our last "at bat" I'm not sure if he means 2 outs or just the last inning.
  20. I just can't believe they won again. After watching garbage baseball for over a decade, my mentality in that situation is still that they are going to lose 3-2, no matter how many times they come back. I can't believe it. Wouldn't it be sweet to sweep the Astros and meet the Cubs on Monday with CC on the mound and free burgers on the line?
  21. They can say what they want, but the TV rating will be over 10 and possibly the highest in Brewers history on Monday night.
  22. Still raining in St. Louis, although it isn't very heavy. They should start on time.
  23. Maybe he should try playing right field...
  24. Lots of rain in STL today. Hopefully it clears out for game time.
  25. In the IGT this was discussed, it was 1992. Last time we had a winning record on the road was the 1999 season.
